Nice work Matt, and congratulations Rod for this awesome setup.
So good to see you give a shout out to Solar4RV's again too, their dedication is on par with yours so they deserve the great recognition you give them.

Great job, again. I've been following you for a while while upgrading my own setup for free camping. My only question is what the chain on the customer roof for?

Nice set up there , but going lithium even so the batterys are in a boot still scares the crap out off me I don't trust them if one goes faulty the van is toast

Actually providing the batteries are "good" ones (meaning not cheap ones often sold from online sellers) , then they are extremely safe, much more so than AGM. There are so many safeguards built into them that they're really hard to make them do something wrong. Keep in mind that these types (LiFePO4) are not the ones used in laptops, scooters, e-bikes and most of the EV's to date. Newer EV's are also changing to use LiFePO4 batteries because of the safety aspect.
AGM batteries have no protection features at all, and the only protection they have (if installed at all) is a temperature sensor that may be connected to the charger.
There's a lot of myth surrounding Lithium batteries, so it's always good to confirm with factual objective reviews. :)

@@PowerPaulAu ok thanks your given me some comfort but why the law don't want them inside anymore if their safe

@@davidmilledge221 it's a really good question, and ultimately it's been a long time coming. The same rule effectively applies to all batteries now, so it's across the board. LiFePO4 batteries don't vent any gasses, unless something has gone horribly wrong, and by that time you're well aware of it. Lead Acid based batteries vent gasses (hydrogen of all things) during charge and discharge, but most of that is contained providing the battery seals are in place properly (debatable with some brands and age can cause issues too). So authorities have just made this new rule to cover everything at once.
I'm the maker of these batteries, PowerPaul Australia, and I'm that confident about them that I sleep literally 2m from about 60 of them, with no concern at all. When I'm on the road delivering them I may have 50 or so in the van with me and there's no worry about them.
Actually we recently had 2 of our batteries be the unfortunate victims of a caravan fire. The fire started close to the batteries, but the batteries themselves did not catch fire. Everything else was barely recognisable.
The key thing is to ensure they are installed properly like Extreme Auto does every time, and that the rest of the electrical system is designed and specified for exactly what you need. That way you're never pushing the limits and putting yourself and your equipment in danger.

All I'm interested in is a system that will run the ac
On a hot day and hope the solar keeps up with it and the batteries are still charged

      Thats the idea.
      it's all about efficiency though.
Think of it like a refrigerator that someone keeps opening the door to pull food from.
unless you open that door the less the compressor is going to kick in and the colder the ambient air temperature will be.
