    Back in the day.. 50 or so years ago, the 1955 and 1957 Chevy 150 or 210 were most desirable. Honestly, no one would touch a 1956 Chevy if they could get their hands on either of the other two, although powertrain swapping was equally the same (55,56,57) . Body style was ultimate when there was a selection. Guess everything that old has become more and more rare as time goes on. Back then, the next set of "desirables" were the 1961Chevy Impala 348ci with triples and 4 on the floor, following that model was the 1962 Impala SS 409ci. Today, the 2 speed Powerglide transmission from that era is still used on some racing applications.

    • @depression666
      @depression666 Před 2 lety +1

      As someone who grew up going to drag racing events my whole life not all drag cars have that type of body most do have them made out of fiberglass but those are also the most powerful engines at the event pushing 2-3000 hp maybe more since they don’t tell you. Most of the time especially if it’s not a NHRA event and an small event at a local drag strip most of the cars have steel or aluminum body’s with a big engine to run 9 second quarter miles at least. The car on this episode sound like an original steel body by the sound the door made when he closed it.

    • @DJayAce4
      @DJayAce4 Před 3 lety +3

      He's selling it for quick cash, that's what pawn shops are all about. You go in and walk out with $, it's the easiest way to sell something. You ain't going to get premium dollar selling something going that route. That's the beauty of pawn stores. You can always decline and walk out, no harm no fowl. Pawn stores aren't going to take gambles on what they buy also, it would be bad business. Rick offered a respectable price on something he's now going to have to try selling for top dollar, which ain't easy and takes tons of time. Or he can flip it for some fast cash and sell it for lets say 50k... He has earned that ability through years and years of building clientele. Also pawn stores have to keep cash flow in order to survive. Sometimes they can't just wait for top dollar and have to sell things off for cheap when things go south, especially on something that takes up so much inventory. I'd say his offer was respectable enough, all things considered.

Remember the guy call him, so Rick has the upper hand right from the start, he knows that he is way low on the list of buyers the seller has tried and failed.

    Love the show but there is no way that motor is worth 40k. I bought and had built a world merlin 2 series 454 block and heads with an 871 blower and two 660 center squirter carbs that I had 25k into and it ran an 8.597 NA at 167mph in a full tube chassis 1971 ss Camaro. I had 250 shot nitrous but never sprayed it. My car had a race prepped TCI th400. That motor looks like a typical truck 454 with an injection setup. There is no way that car will run 160 on that setup.
