Doggie essentials you keep in your car, what you bring on a longer hike for her, training for off leash hikes, tips/tricks/hacks you have learned along the way adventuring together!? I have been "doing it for the dog" lately too, as well as my own mental health, and taking my boy out for adventures even if it's just locally has been so healing for me. Also love what you said about the energy vortex, so much yes!

Ausies are one of the smartest and best hiking companions. If confronted by coyotes they will naturally sit an protect the tendons in their back legs so another coyote can’t grab them. They won’t run off chasing the coyote because they instinctively stay to protect you. They are herding dogs that are not normally scared of thunder and their fur coats protect them from sun and cold . Their coats protect them from coyote bites to the neck and they have that stare that other dogs will recognize immediately as “ I might be smaller but don’t mess with me, because I’m a really good fast protector of myself and herd/ family.
All we give my dog are their dream bones they love them. Our dog is 8 and just starting to hike with me(Kelley) she is a trooper we did a 14-mile hike no long ago. She listens so well but I haven't been brave enough to take her off her leash. I just know one wild animal and she might take off. Been teaching her voice commands, she knows when we see a biker to stop and sit beside me. Ordered some from your link to help out since we already love them.

Great video! Thank you for sharing. I can’t pull my hiking shoes out without my dog getting excited! She’s getting a lot older though, so I have to watch her carefully because she will NOT let me know when it’s time to turn around on a hike. Do you ever have that issue of your dog pushing herself too far?
aw sweet thing! Tabor is only 3 so she can pretty much always lap circles around me but I know there will be a day where I will have to make sure we don't push it too hard. Sounds like you have an amazing pup and that your pup has an amazing mama!

Gus loves hiking and backpacking and pretty much anything outside being the Cattledog he is. Dogs can be the best hiking partners.
