- In this video I touch on updates for my manual swapped Mercedes and also install a very nice aftermarket oem looking radio!
Radio:
VDO Continental TR7412UB-OR European Style 12v Radio
Orange Display Bluetooth a.co/d/4DbW54S
I recommend calling Victor at Restore your Mercedes’. He is up in Brooklyn, Victor reprograms ECUS ON these cars on the regular. Very knowledgeable guy.
where?
Tough luck on the reprogramming not working... someone will come to light eventually. Man that head unit is awesome though! May be a cop in future for the E420.
How does the radio sound? Is it better than factory?
In part 3 (?) you mentioned leaving a transmission computer connected to the shift lever, to ensure that it started. It would fool the ecu by making it think it is in park.
I believe there was an rpm limiter in park on the auto transmission models. I don't know if the rpm limiter was also in neutral, you'll have to do your research. If it wasn't then it's a matter of making that computer always think it's in neutral.
Yea I’ve tried every mode P N D R doesn’t fix it
@@IgnatBK I know that there is a limiter when the car is traveling under I believe 5mph. I'd say thats probably why but no clue how to get around that
I have one in my 99 SL500. It’s a great radio and it does everything well but the USB functionality is so useless. These don’t charge nor sync, just meant for music on a flash drive. At that point, I’d rather not have the USB Port as its only there to tease lol
Give Sound German Automotive in Washington State a call about your limp mode issue
Just got the radio for my 97 SL500 but one of the plugs does not fit. The top smaller connection is different than my original one. I have to send it back. Too bad I really liked the look of that radio.
Nice great car with manual💪💪💪
Hi! Do you know if it is possible to change the welcome text that shows up when you turn the radio on? Thanks!
Any recommendations on a shop for your SL500 in Minnesota? Appreciate the video - considering the same radio as well
Nelson’s in saint Peter tell them I sent you
howd you get the asr abs lights to turn off im having the issue of them on idk what it is
Need a scan tool to break it down for you, mine was just a broken wire. Could be a lot of different things it’s for your traction control.
does this work for the mercedes w124?
whitouth any soldering or anything like that i mean
How is the audio quality? Did your car come with the Bose amp behind the driver's seat?
Quality is good and yes my car does have the Bose amp
Hello! I have a 98 SL600 and bought this unit. The bottom plug connected perfectly but the smaller top plug would not fit. Everything seems to work without that top plug but did you also have this issue and do you know what exactly that top plug is for?
Did you ever figure this out? I’m having the same issue
@@danludwig3679sameee😢
I believe it is for the phone feature in the stereo
@@danludwig3679 yes it was for the car phone
@@andrewmoorefield5505 thank you for confirming it!
I know someone who is german car nerd, maybe he can help you but not sure
