I Used to live near Southend. I remember the free annual air show. Sadly that ended a few years ago, lack of sponsors I believe. Leigh on Sea, such a lovely place to visit, with all the cockle sheds, buy straight from the fishermen. The train still runs along the pier. You're quite right the pier has been the victim of damage, it's been hit by ships too. I worked in Southend until 2005, brought back so many memories. Rossi's ice cream-simply the best. Best Wishes and safe journey to the Emerald Isle.

Lovely day JP love the british seaside. Can't beat it when you get good weather which is very rare at the moment. How does Sammie keep so trim. I can completely understand don't drink but anything sweet and I'm first in the que. Enjoyed your Turkey adventures with Dan and Mazzy. Great people.

My husband's from Southend and was chatting along with you, pointing bits out to me (I've never been, I'm a Somerset girl). Apparently it was a bowling alley that burnt down on the pier but there's been fires at both ends, so he says.

Not a fish lover myself, long story, but never tried oysters. I only live in Kent and never been to Southend, might have to put that right when we can get out in the van but doesn't look hopeful this year unfortunately. Hello from Majorca I felt very nostalgic watching this video lots of childhood memories I remember the old Kersual not sure I spelt it right as a kid getting the train from east ham to Benfleet or it might of been manor park station where I lived
But all very much changed now it was great to see they kept the crooked house I don’t suppose the ghost train is there now I remember a pub next to the kersual I think it was the foresters I used to sit outside with my bottle of lemonade and a bag of crisps this was in the early 70s
I went to southend about 3 years ago now when I spent some time living in Hadleigh loved it there Leigh on sea on the doorstep too great fish and chips I miss it and my pie n mash happy days

But it is one of the best places on the island bit of a nightmare to park but early bird catches the worm you can normally drive around for half an hour you get lucky

I used to use 3 places there the artist italian was one and the other was in front of a little mallorcean house that stood all on its own good fish and chips and the third for cocktails and drinks the owner always said my husband looked exactly like someone on the spanish tv
I said no mate he’s with me and he’s English and comes from grays in Essex

I think Raven enjoyed the walk with a little twitchy nose sniffing the sea air🥰🥰 I wish I loved shellfish. I do like crab & scallops, but none of the other shellfish. When I see my friends having huge prawns they look so good & I do try them but still don't like them😝 Maybe one day when I grow up😂😂 Its probably so clean because nobody can afford to go & park there for the day so no-one to drop litter 😂😂 Well done with the bargain donuts & the ice-cream looked good too😋 I think I would prefer a drink down your local though🍹😂

JP I wouldn't be able to resist eating one of those warm doughnuts and I have been eating low carb, Keto for almost 2 years. 100 lbs lost so I am allowed to treat myself now and then haha. 20 more lbs to lose to get to my goal but I will continue eating low carb for better health. Yes that happened to us in Skegness we got extra because they were small. We sat on the front where we got the donuts and bought coffee I said I always wondered when you see the detective programs where they dunk their donuts into their coffee. I don’t drink coffee at home as I don’t like instant coffee so always have coffee when I’m out and about so there I was dunking my donut in the coffee. What does JP often say blooming lovely and it was blooming lovely so when I get the chance I dunk a donut in my coffee, but I’m like you JP watching the weight you’ll need to get fit so you can run after your wee grand child 💕
