The dinosaurs in the Field Museum are great, but the modern animal section is definitely the strongest exhibit. The way they displayed the specimen and designed the environment around them with the plants growing by the side was really lifelike.
Thank you so much for upploading the video. We could visit the museum here in Mexico 5th grade Tomas Fernandez Blanco Elementary School 2112 We loved it!! Hidalgo del Parral, Chihhuahua Mexico
This is a very small part of the museum. The vast majority of specimens are stored away. Kind of sad that the full scope of the museums collection is not available for the public to see.
Hey man. I wanted to know.... since its my first time visiting a museum in Chicago, which do you think is better, Field or Museum of Science and Industry?
Does anyone know exactly which tyrannosaur was pictured in the dinosaur part of the video? I think it's a Daspletosaurus, because it looks pretty big so that would rule out Albert, or Gorgo, and it has the distinctive brow horns of an early tyrannosaur.
guys I don't know a lot about dinosaurs but where's the shoulder and pelvis bones and joints on most of them idk if it's because some of the bones are reconstructions but they look weird with the arms and legs only connected to the rib cage.
fuckur feelingz It’s because it’s quite rare to find a completed skeleton. Most are reconstructions with the missing parts modeled after the bones of a similar species. The most common finds are leg bones, ribs, teeth, and vertebrae.
Whereas with Sue she was the most complete T-rex that was discovered to date...almost 90 percent. She was discovered by Sue Hendrickson of Black Hills Institute and thus named after her! I wish they were able to keep her as the whole world knows that Maurice Williams on whose land Sue was discovered got greedy and wanted Sue all for himself even though he was paid for her. Hope he's burning in hell for the pain and grief he caused the people who painstakingly excavated the dinosaur and then pocketed 7.6 million dollars when she was sold at Sothebys....Evil greedy man!
Ah, bummer man. That thing scared the hell outta me as a little kid (It was so damn big and it was so dark down there.) But in subsequent years it became my favorite exhibit. I wonder where they sent it(?) Or if it was all fiberglass, I wonder if they just destroyed it (?)

+thebarrochannel both are good. Only thing to really consider is that field is in the downtown area and near things like the planetarium and aquarium. The industry is about 8 miles out of the downtown area
My favorite place to visit in Chicago (besides Wrigley Field.) I'm a little surprised such an honorable institution would not leave the issue of evolution vs. creationism more open to discussion. Especially for the many school groups that visit on a daily basis. Less than half of earth scientists still believe in Darwin's theories...
I love the museum, especially when hardly anyone is there!

When I was a kid during school we went there every year
My favorite is the Lions of tsavo
Chicago is the left armpit of the United States but it makes up for it with its museums and the aquarium
I've always wanted to see Sue in person.
I get to see her every once in a while, I live in Chicago. :P

Where's the gigantic whale shark in the basement? Did they remove it?
