That would've been funny if the kids looked at each other and one said, "Can you believe it?" and the other kid said "Yeah, who'd _ask_ to be served turnips?"
This movie is beautiful.especially the boy has a wonderful soul.i love how they handle the situation.how the boy handles her postpartum depression.the kids handle it very well
What's so weird about this movie is that it was directed by John G Avildsen same man who directed and won an Oscar for Rocky. Original release date 1/15/1988. Meanwhile John Hughes who was sort of a mentor for Molly Ringwald comes out with She's Having a Baby starring Kevin Bacon three weeks later.
"Why don't we just keep it?" "Shut the hell up, you had a gerbil last year and you forgot to feed it and it died" Hahah, seriously couldn't stop laughing...
“Sebastian!! I know you’ve been keeping something from me.” “Keeping something?” “About Ariel.” “Ariel?” “In love.” “I TRIED TO STOP HER, SIR! SHE WOULDNT LISTEN! I TOLD HER TO STAY AWAY FROM HUMANS!!”
Interesting this movie is, Also trying to think how I miss this back then. I didn't even see at all. Well I guess, I'm going to have to go to Barnes and Noble and buy this dvd
teenage pregnancy is not a joke. whats funny about it? the girl might go on welfare and uncle sam can support them since the supposed father runs off.if u play, better be prepared to pay. it takes two parents to raise kids not just one.i live in a small town where there r a lot of kids growing up on welfare instead of parents supporting their own kids. no one should depend on uncle sam to live on completely.
RacBeat girl Play? Do you read? So many pregnancies are the result of force. And men can most easily prevent pregnancy by use of a condom, so why don't they? Because they are selfish. Better make sure none of the taxpayers carrying you in your old age were unwanted babies, cos' I'm sure you wouldn't accept their taxes, would you?
you judgemental fool, you don't know how those people are paying their bills, and it's none of your business. It's not like anyone can afford rent on a minimum wage job anymore. Also, most welfare programs require you to be working or volunteer. Mind your business.
I agreed with the Darcy's mother in this scene. Darcy had her whole life ahead of her, travelling, going to college, etc and she threw it all away just to have and keep the baby. A lot of people seem to forget that abortion IS an option.
but having a child is not a handicap. nothing prevents them from doing all these things after. In the movie Darcy and Stan have a wonderful relationship why mess it up? Nonetheless teenage pregnancy is indeed a serious topic and I think that as it should not be romanticised abortion shouldn't be commoditized because you know it's life.
I think the idea of the movie is that she makes a wish when the star is running through the sky. In my interpretation of the wish is to stay with Stan forever because she started doubting since many were saying that they would probably drift apart. Especially when they’re going to different universities. In one scene she tells Stan that she really tried to abort the baby, but she couldn’t. -Darcy “When I think about you and me I just want to have that.” The baby brought challenge to their lives, but it kept them together just how she wished to the star. Also Stan realizes that Darcy and Thea are want he really wants so he finds a way to make it work. It’s a beautiful love story
I was a teen mom also, I had the option of abortion I was gonna do it, but I decided not too, so I just went on and laid in the bed I made, and my Son who I was gonna kill is now a Doctor, Never know God's plans.. That one selfish thing you decide to do can kill an entire destiny for the world.. But I ain't judging..
i think that line is classic :i'm pregnant can you pass the turnips?"
Lol 😂😂 I laughed so hard that was so funny 😂😂

I rather have my tax dollars go to taking care of teenage mothers than corporate welfare!

This is why birth control and abortion should be available to everyone.
Agreed. And I'll tell you guys, one thing: This gem of a movie is definitely a precautionary tale.
I agreed with the Darcy's mother in this scene. Darcy had her whole life ahead of her, travelling, going to college, etc and she threw it all away just to have and keep the baby. A lot of people seem to forget that abortion IS an option.
but the fact is she did make her option , to keep it
