The fist pump, in my opinion I've always looked at it as the first time Bender has had any happiness or clarity in his life... And it's his way of rejoicing...idk, I could be wrong but just my opinion.

FUN FACTS: This was the first script John Hughes intended to direct for his first feature, but Universal felt his teen sex comedy Sixteen Candles would sell better at the time, so it was fast-tracked instead.
The woman and little girl playing Brian's mom and sister in the beginning were the real-life relatives of actor Anthony Michael Hall.
There is no punchline at the end of Bender's joke when he's crawling in the ceiling. Judd Nelson made it up on the spot.
Writer/Director John Hughes can be seen playing Brian's dad, when he picks him up at the end.
Nicolas Cage and John Cusack originally auditioned for John Bender.
John Hughes wrote the script in just two days (July 4th and 5th of 1982).

It's not really all that uncommon for young Millenials and Zoomers to not have seen popular early 80s cinema. There's alot of older Millenials and young Xers who never saw Star Wars until the 90s.

Absolutely, why do you want to see dad or mom favorite movie, right. How "uncool" is that. Right. Every gen wants to enjoy whatever is the "now". Except, the "production" of the money making arts(music, movie, tv,...etc.) know that the young, impressionable are free for the manipulation. Only true nerdy cinephiles will take the initiative to discover on their own the "good stuff". It doesn't matter contemporary or old(classic), good is good. Same can be said about music. However, just like the art of film making with music only musicians have the "tools to judge for themselves" what is good. A very difficult skill when you are up against peer pressure and the "machine" pumping out derivative music to tell you what is good.

I love this movie. My first time watching it was at the end of my junior year of high school in Literature class. High school was terrible 😅 but I have a fond memory of just watching this movie. I associate it with that relieving feeling I used to get near summer break.

In my opinion...the fist bump. Was the kids winning in the end, in their own individual ways. That's an 80's/90's kid speaking from a broken home and it it makes complete sense to me. Poetically without saying too much literally...It's done perfectly. I may have stuttered

  • @krisfrederick5001

It's amazing and scary that these exact stereotypes exist to this day. Maybe one day they won't. It also shows how everyone can get along. I was Bender but not sexist, and my teachers loved me...."This is what you get for spilling paint in the garage...did I STUTTER?" This movie...is just...Perfection. I was the punk rock long haired kid with the band and the beautiful blond cheerleader girlfriend. It confused a lot of people but we loved each other. And we loved that it confused people. Saturday school absolutely SUCKED I had to do it. This is based on a true story. In every way.

Dude we used to be SOOOO unsafe with our SSN. As late as the 90's it was on our driver's licenses. My college ID number was my SSN & we'd have to say it aloud allllllll the time.

@@ronb8500 you're right. I stand corrected. She was 22 at the time of filming but never finished college. Got her big break and that was it.

Wait....when you fist bump the air is it to communicate a specific thought? I've just been using it yo communicate like...yah!

  • @trexinvert
    @trexinvert Před 3 dny

    Fist bump is simply this.
I'm a teenager and what I feel and think matters.
Don't Fk with me you adults and society and tell me what to do.
If you all are confused or over-analyzing.
I recommend you google Rage Against the Machine.
In the 80's we were starting to figure it out.
    In the 90's, kids leveled-up.
Then a reset happened to society after that.

    1. The woman and little girl dropping of Brian are Anthony Michael Hall's real mother and sister.
    2. The late Paul Gleason😇 played Beeks in "Trading Places". Also, the idiot assistant police chief in "Die Hard".
    3. "Ya got fifty bucks?" was supposed to be twenty. The look on Paul's face was genuine.
    4. That's not Molly's crotch, she was a minor.
    5. I still use the term "doobage".😎
    6. Even John Hughes said the shattering window was a huge reach.
    7. That's not dandruff, it's parmesan cheese.
    8. I love Ally Sheedy. Personally, I liked her better GOTH.😍😋😈
    9. If you catch it Andrew's dad is scoping out Allison as he's picking up Andrew.
    10. John Hughes😇is picking up Brian.
    11. Hughes used this school in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Uncle Buck".
