The Code Black Duck is by far the best full choke I've EVER used in my 40+ years of duck hunting. It is amazing used with my Browning Maxus 28" barrel shotgun... LOVE IT!!!
Last season I switched from a Carlson's to a Patternmaster. Such a huge difference, the Patternmaster shoots much tighter and uniform, I had more kills, longer range kills, and no cripples that a can recall. Everyone in my group shot Patternmasters last season and they did the job well.
Patternmaster doesn’t shorten the shot string. That’s been proven by “Surviving Duck Season” channel with the super slow motion camera. Not taking away from their patterns bc they do look good, but they definitely don’t shorten the shot string.
Beretta A300 with the patternaster is amazing, shot the gun after falling in the water multiple times and with ice in it. Smacks mallards without a problem.
Yes and no. I mean I agree it’s definitely not at all what they’re saying but I’m shooting a Browning A5 so there’s gonna be differences but the biggest thing for me is in the field what it’s doing to birds on impact. There’s something there, maybe imagination, but I don’t think so. Never seen birds get hit that hard so consistently

Patternmaster and their false advertisement of shortening the shot string by that much is BS! It doesn’t matter if it’s an A5 or SBE3 it doesn’t shorten the shot string by anywhere near 80%!
I use both. I like the kicks for lead BB and #4 buck in .670 and .680. I can get 6 pellets pretty. Consistent with both in a 5 inch circle at 60 yards. I have used pattern master code black turkey in both 12 and 10 gauge. Patten master doesn’t offer sizes they just pick a size and market it.ivebused the originals when they first came out. I could shoot ducks at a 100 yards with a monster lead.

I have a kicks and it’s awesome! I have ordered a Muller and should have a video up soon. Well done! My kicks has done 100% in 30 inch circle at 40 yards. I’ll be very impressed if the muller can beat the kicks.🎉 I hate flapping Bang flop with coyotes too.🤟
Ive only been duck hunting a few years. When i bought my browning a5 i bought a kicks high flyer extra full on the recommendation of a friend. Have tested 4-6 loads through it and could only get 1 to pattern worth a darn. Im considering going to patternmaster or carlsons. Would be nice to have some versatility and not be confined to one load for the rest of my life…
A lot of people saying Patternmaster is all marketing hype or whatever. I see many chokes recommended and people say patternmaster is overpriced. For me, I tested lots of chokes and PM not only had high % in pattern tests but incredible patterns, with great coverage and few gaps. People say the shot string is BS and can’t be tested. Go swat a cripple on the water with a PM vs a construction choke. You can literally see the difference. I went from a construction to PM and it’s either a miss or a fold. Birds get absolutely trucked. I do feel if you are a bad shot it will make you a worse shot, but good shooters will see less cripples. People say I drank the marketing koolaid, but on paper and on birds I haven’t found anything better.
Jebs .685 is crazy. I shoot cans in the gulf and I was shooting heads off at 25 yards. A buddy has pattern master Cade black duck and the jebs has a much tighter pattern when we compared. Jebs is best IMO
I've use kicks now and have great luck with them in both my Benellies M2 ,SBE2 great chokes for the shooting I do. I shoot ww shells 3 in 1550 #2 or #3 pattern best and knock down birds. Awsome vid thanks
Went out and got a Code Black today and did a few patterns. NICE! Only thing is patterns were a bit higher than the Carlson's I was using, but I can deal. Patterns were night and day better.
I never knew what a shot string was until I switched to pattern master and saw what It did on water swats and cripples especially when you don't have a dog like Rocky
I actually use the same choke tubes exclusively with hevi steel. I can’t decide which one of the 2 are better on paper so I just switch back and forth whenever I’m feeling superstitious lol

Joel is a friend of mine and I can’t argue research but I can argue I know what it does in the field. It could be a mind thing. I never bought it cuz of their marketing because I never seen it, I bought it because I seen what it was doing to all the birds my buddy shot. I may change in 2 years who knows 😂
@@MidValleyMercenaries From a shooting pov and having changed from gas to inertia, I'd say the SBE3+Muller is giving me less felt recoil, a more true pattern, and less flip at the tip for a follow up shot. At the moment its been broken in on the Clay Comps with a shell at 1500fps. But, using the Decoy H20 Choke which is equivalent to 3/8, not much gets away. The Passing is more 5/8, and patterning with Steel, am pleased with the results. Jimmy Muller comes from an engineering background as you probably know and its worth listening to his thoughts on Ported, makes you think/query their design. Am no expert, and our Wildfowling here in the UK is very different to yours, but Mullers seem to gaining a solid reputation here over Kicks/Carlsons/Patternmaster which has been surprising.
Question Titus, I to shoot the cold back duck in my A-5 it looks just like yours. And I have the same sight you added on yours. My question is. Does your gun shoot high? Mine does when I’m pattern it. It shoot about 4-5 inches high. Just wondering if that a default for n the A-5.
It does shoot a little high that's why I put a Truglo site on mine because it's a bigger site and which causes my point of aim to drop. I figured that out after my first season with the shotkam

I always say shoot what you like and what patterns best for you. I shoot 10-40 yards with this choke. Never has tore the birds up. I use 6 shot though. Now if I shot a teal at 10 yards it might. Over half of my harvested birds last year were mallards which are obviously bigger and more hearty

I use the code black duck and goose but lately I have found the anaconda series has been just as good if not better at times. They use gas coil constriction unlike the code black series. Plus they only cost 60 dollars compared to 100 or maybe 89 on sale. I also use Carlson chokes. I went away from kicks after one bulged out however the company replaced it but my trust in it was kind of lost. They work well hevi hammer, federal blue box and some other brands. I have Browning's, Berettas, Benellis so I have a lot of chokes lol.i just won a black mamba on another channel it's a tight choke so might try it waterfowl might not. I did kill a coyote with it though with hevi shot turkey loads. Hope to see u at the refuges again down in NorCal.

Personally the Rob Roberts T1, T2 and T3 were the worst chokes I’ve ever used in my life. I’d shoot a factory choke before putting one of those in my gun again. The patterns on paper were absolutely horrible. I ended up selling the set to a buddy of mine for $100.

I run the Kicks High Flyer Extra Full in every shotgun that I own minus my Browning Citori. I started running that choke back in 2012 and haven’t looked back. Everything from doves to Honkers.
The Patternmaster CBD is so superior to the Kicks it's really no contest. My Kicks full in sitting in a drawer... all hype and BS. Honestly, Kicks high flyer chokes are great for the cool factor but my Carlsons Cremators out pattern it and the Patternmaster out patterns the Carlsons. Expensive Patternmaster's are worth it if you want to reduce cripples and bring home more waterfowl.
Patternmaster has used their “studring technology” as a marketing gimmick. It does NOT create a shorter shot string, it actually causes a LONGER string. Pattermaster is a total lie and they have no studies to prove their shotstring claim , obviously, and won’t because it will expose their lie. Watch you tube channel Surviving Duck Season (Joel Strickland) and how he proves patternmaster wrong with a slow-motion camera in his choke tube comparison/shotgunning series(parts 6 and 9). Also, patternmaster had the most inconsistant pattern of all. The best choke tube pattern of all the comparisons(constriction types, load types, load shot)was Muller. Muller won100% of the time. Every test. Btw, Joel also proved that ported tubes actually cause bad patterns and do not reduce recoil enough and that it was undetectable. Unlike a rifle. I did shoot patternmaster. I now shoot muller because i saw the proof and truth. No myths and heresay by other hunters repeating what they’ve heard or read on marketing packages.
Both ported garbage. One's ported wad-stripping garbage. Both easily beaten by any choke without holes in it, and the one is completely destroyed by any chokes that don't wreck the shot column as it leaves the barrel. But, these aren't marketed at folks like me... Heh.

I’ve had nothing but good luck with a Patternmaster Code Black Duck on my SBE3 for the last two seasons. It was worth the money for sure.

Tried Kicks in a Browning, now use an SBE3 and using Muller H20 chokes. A world of difference and will never go back to anything ported.

Hevi shot makes a blend called Hevi-XII. It’s a tungsten blend. Not cheap

I love trying new stuff but with ammo prices I might lay off anything new for awhile. At some point I’d love to try everything out there
