In the 100th Bomb Gp, nearly everyone was killed, missing or a prisoner in short order, so there was no way but for a few characters, we could get to know them. Yet, they climbed in their aircraft, and went anyway. That is the stuff of legends. We will remember
I think the point is that the affair was a big deal to HIM, and maybe, ultimately to her, too. He was so very attached to his wife, living for her letters. He could not and would not take this step lightly. He was blown apart at the loss of his buddy, his on-site cheerleader. The daily loss of life... And then, in a flash, it was gone, as unpredictable and jarring as getting on the plane. His affair in this production was a stand-in for all the men torn apart by their reality, finding comfort, solace, and fortitude literally anywhere they could find it. I am very glad they included it because, using him in particular, I felt for the predicament of fighting men in ANY war even more.
It's mentioned in one of the episodes I think after Bucky got shot down and they thought he was dead, no one tried to make friends or have a close attachment to anyone as any of them could get killed the next time they went up
Buck got married again 2 years after his first wife had died. He married Esther Lee Athey, to whom he remained married until he died in 2006. For some reason the creators of the show decided to leave that information out.

The fact John Egan died when he was only 45 made me tear up a lot All he went through and he passes so young I loved this show, it was amazing. I will be watching it again for sure

One of the things I love about the Spielberg/Hanks biographical movies and series is that they **never** forget that the film is about real-live human beings who actually did these amazing things. The profound respect they have for these people, both men and women, of all faiths, of all skin colors, just emanates from their work and gives reverent respect to the children of the Great Depression who rose up and fought and died in their thousands so that strangers did not have to live in tyranny. Understand that I cast no shade upon anyone here, Allied or Axis. At the combatant level, down where the metal meets the meat, most troops were human beings caught up in events far far greater than themselves. They had no more control over the events of the war farther than their weapons could shoot. War makes human beings do evil things and this is the principle reason why war must be avoided if at all possible. But that was not possible in World War Two. And it is absolutely amazing that it was avoided a generation later, though by a razor thin edge.
I’m kinda felt sad that this is the first time in three of the miniseries where no actual people being interviewed before playing the episodes. May these people being portrayed find peacefulness in the Heavens….😔

Since some or many of the interviews of the actual people being portrayed in the miniseries are either from the archived videos taken years or decades ago...... For example is the interview of Eugene Sledge from 1980s or 1990s if I'm right with the date, was added to the documentary about real people portrayed in The Pacific miniseries.
I’m not really an emotional man, but the Marge and Gale ending was extremely upsetting to read. What an unfathomably awful thing to happen to them. So, so sad.
I was nervous while watching this tributes since many veteran air crews end up with losing in accident in the following missions/combats in still young age. Not saw these type here, but ending of Marge and Bucky were indeed upsetting.
This whole series was incredible. A reminder, if one was needed, of all of these heroes. We will remember them. And what a poignant reminder at the end. Thank you Apple+. Absolute respect to everyone involved in the production of this. Lest We Forget.
Incredible story finally told. B-17 stories are brutal!!! My grandfather was a tail gunner and had to bail over France. He was taken in by French resistance and survived. So, with that said, I was excited to watch MOTA. I was very happy with this series, and of course bawled my face off at the ending credits. I still cant believe this all even happened, less than 100 years ago. Hats off to all the men and women and families that fought for our country and for the world.
How most of them retire as Colonel. A reminder that within Armed forces, always held respect for those old folk that was either higher up rank cause you never knew, they might be ww2 veteran.
With all due respect, and I do, Eight Air Force lost more KIA than the U.S. Marines did in the Pacific! A friend of my parents lost their son, a bombardier over Berlin. Lt.Col. Bierney Lay was with or at least around the 100th, and wrote the book that became the movie, "Twelve O'clock High!" Gen. Curtis LeMay led a number of these missions in the ETO before being transferred to the Pacific, and command of 20th Bomber Command. God Bless them all!
A fantastic series to remind us all what they all had to endure fighting fascism...a subject that is taking a foothold with the GOP here in the US. Thousands have died fighting these thugs and it shocks me that there is a segment of our population that embraces the exact evil that lead the world descend into WW2.

Today people in America talk about how they live such horrible lives, yet I don’t think these brave people who went into metal tubes of death to fight against a dictatorial regime were protesting in the country they lived in saying it’s an absolute dystopian society. I watched each episode hoping the next one would be better, it never happened, such a disappointment, and it failed to honour all those brave airmen. This was a very sad but factual part of a series that was so inaccurate it was almost disrespectful.
The series was in my opinion) quite ok till 5 episode from there I guess they run out of money and we didin;t get much air battle in show about airmen instead we got some boring subplots and too much jumping between characters without enough time to bond with them as a viewer. Hard to compare it to Band of Brothers in that regard.
