The perfection of Grishuk and Platov is that everything came together and worked for them - amazing choreography, their acting skills, their attention to every small step, a small movement, to some extent contributes to their unity, their beautiful musicality, their sincere affection for each other. even in 2022, Grischuk and Platov are invincible.
I'll never forget this routine as long as I live. My favorite free dance that they ever did. They really flew around the arena. The TV coverage is deceptive and doesn't give enough justice to just how fast they were going. Loved the seamless content. I really think they should have gotten at least 2nd (there was no way of beating K/P because of just K/P's name alone)
@@gk891 They deserved 2nd. Duchenay’s were so blah to me. I don’t know how they even won at Worlds in 1991, and their “iconic” program in 1990 and 1991 was just so boring, and just empty content wise for me.
@@icestan_dancefan7024 At least second. Possibly even first. As good as K&P were, I honestly found their free dance to be overkill in terms of all the drama and angst. I honestly found it to be a little contrived.
Chris Cuthbert's words proved prophetic, as they did indeed come out on top in Lillehammer, even with Usova/Zhulin in the mix (not to mention Torvill and Dean).
yeah it was ironic "if Usova & Zhulin don't stay for 94, this could be the team to beat in Lillehammer." Well Usova & Zhulin did stay for 94, and Torvill & Dean returned, and they were still the team to beat in Lillehammer.
In regards to Barb's comments at the end, this FD is meant to have a somewhat cold and clinical feel to it. I really liked it because it provided a nice contrast to the red hot passion that the other Unified Team couples demonstrated.
@tony braxter Her ice dance commentary was absolutely awful. At the 1992 Olympics, she seemed almost bitter towards Klimova & Ponomarenko and couldn't criticize them enough while showering as much praise as possible on Usova & Zhulin and the Duchesnays, two teams who were technically nowhere near K&P (or G&P even at that early stage in their careers).
@@gk891 Barb's commentary is awful in all the events. Her OTT Michele Kwan, Kristi Yamaguchi, Lu Chen, and Sasha Cohen worship in all her ladies commentary for years while dumping on skaters she dislikes such as Surya Bonaly, Irina Slutskaya, Yu Na Kim, Fumie Suguri ad nauseum (not saying those skaters dont have their weaknesses, yes even the great Yu Na Kim but Barb's bias is blatant). Her OTT Elvis Stojko, Brasseur & Eisler, and Sale & Pelletier worship while dumping on nearly all their competitors, particularly any that are Russian. Her on and off bandwagoning, like her OTT Kazakova & Dmitriev worship to suddenly going cold on them in mere weeks when Bereznaya & Sikhardlidze replaced them as her new faves, then going cold on B&S when her new pets Sale & Pelletier emerged. She is hideous.
Same here. It was a much more challenging program than Usova & Zhulin's. I would've placed them higher than U&Z in the other segments of the competition as well. For example, Usova's closed choctaws in the Blues CD were absolutely awful.
@@fivantvcs9055 The Duchesnays were known to be artistic innovators but they weren't great technical skaters. By the time the 1992 Olympics came around, their innovation was kind of gone. I thought they only placed second due to their reputation and the fact that the Olympics were in France that year.
@@rolandgreen7484 I especially liked Petr & Janoschak's OD. And yes, they were badly undermarked. And yes, especially at Worlds! I thought both Canadian teams were badly undermarked at Worlds.
Катаются , как дышат !!! 👏👏👏
Спасибо Оксане и Евгению за талант ! 💐

no doubt they also deserved the Oli medal in 1992.

Yes, I found this program to be very engaging both technically and artistically. Fantastic stuff. Definitely medal worthy.

без сомнения, они также заслужили медаль Оли в 1992 году.
My favorite ❤❤

@@gk891 What do you think about the Italian judge placing Callegari and Camerlengo above Gritschuk & Platov in the free dance, LOL!
I would have ranked this FD second behind Klimova/Ponomarenko and ahead of Usova/Zhulin.

The Duchesnay were far better. Eventhough the Grichuk/Platov style is so refreshing.
