I say this with all due respect, but ever since the "Go Time" video it kind of opened my eyes to things. I always knew it, but something about that video put a fine point on it for me. If you can make a song like that with that little device you can pretty much make anything sound good. Makes me think we are all chasing such small margins at this point. I cancelled all my plans on some expensive amps I had lined up to buy and have not even been playing the ones I have. Kind of just been messing with the Quad Cortex and plugins appreciating what is in front of me and trying to better myself on guitar.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of “new”. Most of the time it’s just about making things work. Bending the gear to your will.
@@ChrisAdkins1985 words of wisdom, man.
@@ReturnToCoda you’re totally right. The only thing new gear offers is inspiration. But that can come from a new plugin or changing tuning. Buying expensive guitars and amps thinking it’s going to make any difference to what people hear in your music is just a fools chase.
If you were to dial in your favourite tone, capture on the QC and stick it on the cloud, I would be sooooooo happy.
I spoke to Friedman and they said they totally don't mind and actually said you should upload your THREE favourite tones.
100% knew that was the Custom before seeing it… such a signature sound!
Thanks for the review. Mine’s getting the rundown tonight, and I just came up with perfect song to record!
Sounds tremendous!!
I'm definitely interested in this pedal. Great Tone and Function Review... I'm considering buying this pedal
IR-D is my next purchase. Fantastic preamp!
Yyeeeeeessssss glad you made this
This is the one to get. Man this sounds good. I hope they make more in the series like a Jerry Cantrell or Jake E Lee IR
Been super happy with the IR-X since it came out..
Seeing how much I love my Dirty Shirley 40 I had to at least try the IR-D
Got it in and am very much digging it.
Running channel one on the mid gain structure switch gain at noon and playing lightly gets a nice clean/edge of breakup thing, engage boost at 1/2 level gets me a great crunch rhythm and channel two with max gain an the bright switch off gives a great solo sound.
Working exactly how I was hoping it would.
Small board with the IR-D, direct or via FX send through my rev/delay pedal into the return of another amp. At band rehearsal studio there is a Mesa 1/2 stack and I run into the FX return, I will take either my Dirty Shirley 40 1x12 or JJ Junior 1x12 depending on the situation. I like that I have a board that gives me all my tones. In the rare event I need to plug into the front of a clean amp I have another small boar built up with a Valbruch high voltage tube preamp. Need to try this into the front of a clean amp but I know that is not ideal
I like to use my own IRs as well. I like the Ownhammer Classic rock, using the Greenback 57 most of the time live. Just sounds "right". At home I will sometime run through my FM3 direct using it for stereo IRs and more eloborate delay/verbs
This thing (like the IR-X sounds great and feels like the real amp.
I love the concept of the Twin Sister as most muilt channel amps I find I like one channel but not the other(s)
Like Rabea said, both channels sound and feel like the same amp but I can dial in different gain/eqs.
My main crunch sound is ch 1 with boost engaged and I have channel 2 as lead with more mids, etc. with the boost engaged.
Nice!
Damn that les paul sounds so good😮
Best review yet👍. Thinking of using this for stereo with my Bluguitar Amp1 to run to sound man for #majikband shows. Really sounds good.
Got mine yesterday. It’s dope
Nice. 🔥👍
Great demo as usual Rabea and as always Amazing playing as usual. However I own a Marshall JMD 1 that I push over the edge with a V1 Kraken pedal 🦑 and I am the happiest man in the world 😊
I would be floored if you could do a video showing how to properly integrate analog pedals with your/any nueral plugin
That Les Paul tone was killer.
It already sounds great with driven cleans
These looks like pretty amazing on the pedalboard "amps". The tones are pretty killer.
Apologies if you mentioned it in the video and I missed. Are you using effects from the UAD or some other stuff?
Edit: Just found the part where you mention it. Yup, effects in Archetype Rabea are great.
Mmm, that first part sounded so juicy. Sick as usual. I might have to take a look at this.
Man that les paul is just sooo cool
I agree, what he is playing after 15:00 is having a lot of soul.
I would love this pedal style layout and quality but for a 5150ii. Straight up.
Thanks for a great overview Rabea! What are your thoughts about the comparative strengths between the IR-D and Victory Sheriff V4 preamp (lower gain green channel in the case of the Sheriff)?
Damn! I whish I could afford it, sounds flipping amazing!
It's rabea making it good, he can make the first transistor amp sound the new big thing, and everyone has been shitting on those for 50 years now 😂😂😂
I got a credit card for my IRX. First one in my 40 years of life. Worth it
What are you using for the drone tone during the lesson Paul portion of the video?
Just bought this...waiting on the snail mail
Quickly with the Les Paul 15:10 Sweet!
Excellent video as always...can you tell me which one has a better clean tone. Every video so far that was for the IR-D says that it has less gain than the IR-X, but no one has shown that clean tone so far. When I say clean tone I mean a pure clean tone for funk or some pop
Not a lot of people buying Friedman amp products for "clean" toned...
If you play your Les Paul custom, I am bound to like the video.
Now compared to the Victory preamps? 😈
I have the IR-X and wish that you could save the EQ and gain parameter settings digitally. I'm really not sure why they couldn't squeeze that in given how easy it is to accidentally bump a knob when moving these. If anyone in the comments is concerned about that, you could put a rubber disk under each knob to make it harder to bump them.
I use duct tape. For everything but the volumes.
Your comment seems to contradict itself.
@@slugtoenail I was expressing an issue I had with the pedal and the solution I found to remedy it. That said, it could have been prevented initially had the settings been savable from the start.
@@karikaroyt2689It’s possible to buy a cover for these that also allows turning the knobs… I believe the dude selling these just said they were sold out, but wouldn’t be surprised if he makes more… check on Reverb and/or the Friedman IR-X & IR-D User Group 🙂
@@karikaroyt2689 Well, it’s an analog preamp with analog pots… that’s why they “couldn’t squeeze that in”. You are asking for an impossible option given the product. Check out the Soldao X99’s motorised pots for what your request would entail.
If the desktop editor was interactive then the knobs on the pedal wouldn't be WYSIWYG.
That LP is devine, she’s like black honey just so pretty
I can't focus on the product because I am listening to Rabea...
You mean where 90% of the tone lives?
would have been a better demo without the verb and delay, as they give a false sense of space, which is def needed for a pedal like this, but it would have been nice to just hear it as it is... otherwise the little that was demoed without fx sounded typical for this type of pedal... flat.
thx for the demo.
Every demo of this pedal does that and there is a reason. I bought one to record with and for rhythm guitars in a mix it plain sucks. Sounded good by itself but hasn't got much eq able bottom end which is kinda just flabby and the top end hasn't got much power. I ended up buying the dsp mesa boogie and wow, the difference in quality is silly
@ashleydines144 What is the difference in price?
Okay. I work at baseline customer service in a computer store in Canada, and I have never seen a mouse like that before, or even have a client enquire about it. What the hell is even that?!? I must know...
nothing's better than Two notes revolt
truly? i’m thinking of grabbing one but it doesn’t have IRs
Thanks for the video demo. Really wish there wasn’t any music whilst you are talking. It just sounds like pulsating white noise….
Bea has a twin sister? She must be hot
I heard something odd, like a tube rattle or something? The unit and your playing sound amazing! I did not watch, only listened and heard some kind OF peaking or tube rattle. Just FYI.
Never mind the playing..the Fro’ is looking majestic 😂
Do you think anyone has profiled this pedal and upped it to the Tonex library? Lol!
Defeating the whole point of tubes
@Ottophil, the emperor, is naked. You might feel the compression of the tubes under your fingers while you're playing. You won't hear them in a mix later. Tonex is ridiculously close to the real deal.
@@Pete1980ificationill be honest with you Tonex feels really really good even better than my Kemper
It’s getting hard to take these videos seriously anymore when these reviewers never actually use this stuff in real life.
The purpose of my videos is to show you features and tones to help you make an informed decision as to if you’d want to use one yourself or not…Not to tell you I use it in real life.
@@RabeaMassaad You don’t have to tell us you use anything. It’s evident in your rig rundowns that you don’t use most of what you “review.”
@@stanknuggetthey’re demo videos, as in demonstration videos of the features and tones.
@@RabeaMassaadspeaking of which... is there a place your IRs are available?
Rabea I am thinking of Buying the IR-D and tickle it with my GT-1000. I would also use the effects from the GT and use it's midi to controll the IR-D, or any additional stuff that would come along. What do you think? I then have a Brunetti 2x60w power amp that would drive a Mesa Roadking 2x12.
