    Hi, great video, I like the idea. I was considering installing a concrete slab or pavers on a small triangular area in my front yard. However, for both options, I need a permit and a site plan. I will probably cover the triangular area with gravel. The reason why I want to cover this area is because it's just dirt and I have to cross it each time I enter the house. Thank you.

    Some great tips there. Thinking out loud, I wonder if tacking the plastic strip onto some old wood may help stabilise it? I know wood will warp, but with the odd long stake it could be hammered deep every metre to ensure its sturdy. We keep any old wood and it always comes on handy. Thanks for the video.

    • @VanDamArtisan

      It was primarily to control the water. There's a low spot with a drain just under the surface. The pipe is perferated to allow the water that gets under the concrete to enter the pipe and escape downhill.

    I have a nice big yard with space on the side too. The side yard it's just sitting there looking boring..I want to use that space too..the side yard has a slope which iam thinking of removing or adding dirt to level. After that iam gonna lay down concrete to use that space too. However, now iam debating between gravel and concrete for the side yard space ( 15ft from house to fence and 60ft long.)...my only concern is gravel getting stuck under shoes and bringing it into the house...I have very nice plank vinyl flooring.. we won't be taking shoes off to go into house.

    • @VanDamArtisan
      @VanDamArtisan  Před 3 lety

      60 feet of concrete would be pretty expensive, but then you wouldn't have to worry about weeds or gravel in the house. If it were me, I would probably do both. I would pour concrete high traffic areas and grave on the sides, or maybe some planter areas. You could do a lot with that much space. I have a similar situation with an area in my backyard that I still haven't done anything with.

I also like the idea of laying down concrete in high traffic areas..
