  • Filling in for a local shuttle for 2 cold and snow days will really make you want some comfort food. My go to comfort food is Pho noodle soup. I just happen to know of a awesome local Thai restaurant that serves my favorite bowl of Pho noodle soup and I definitely did not miss the opportunity to get some during my trip. I also brought some friends along.

    General Tso‘s chicken , chicken, fried rice, and that hot and sour soup. You will HAVE TO SHOWCASE SOME GOOD General TSO’s chicken that you have found out there. ✌️out.

    On a cold snowy winter day my first thought is stay home and admire the white landscape from the window. But…I guess that is an Atlanta thing more than Illinois! 🤣
    Also, I loved the meal footage with some of your lunch mates going with the fork in the pho. I have not had that dish but would like to try it - looks good! My wife’s mom is Korean so I have gotten better with chopsticks since I have known her, but I’m not sure I could tackle pho without a fork and spoon! I may need to try to find out this winter!

    James, I love watching your video. Would you believe, i'm also a fellow bus driver. Well, i say that I only drive a 12 seat minibus but I would love to drive a coach for sure. I'm wandering if the rules on driving are the same to you from over here or not. We have something called EU hours and Working Time Directive. I notice that you also have a walk around which is also similar. I kinda want a chat about it and find out what it's like driving and working in America driving coaches.

    • @JWangvlogs
      @JWangvlogs  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Andy thank you so much. Means a lot to me. I would love to chat with you about driving here. We have several drivers in our company from the UK. The rules here are 10 hours driving and 15 hours of on duty time. You need 8 consecutive hours off duty for your clock to reset.

    • @handymusic4123
      @handymusic4123 Před 4 lety

      Thanks for getting back to my james. I appreciate the response from you. So your shift I'm guessing is 15 hours long? Because here it's like 9 hours driving every day or 3 days of driving 10 hours max. We also have to have 11 hours daily rest every day or 9 hours 3 days in a week. So basically if we have 11 hours daily rest. 24 hours off 11 makes a 13 hour shift but if we have the 9 hour daily rest then it's like 15 hour shift like you. Did that make sense james? Haha sorry if not. I'm hoping so as your a bus driver also Haha. Keep up the good work james.

    • @JWangvlogs
      @JWangvlogs  Před 4 lety +2

      LOL yeah they are good sports! The newer body style models are nice. They are easy to get in and out of tight spaces. On the interstate they are a bit lacking as far as stability. You really notice the missing set of tags. They are also a bit nosier than the MCI's and Prevhosts and Vanholls. You can really hear that drive train working down there when accelerating and getting up to speed. I find the cabin gorgeous. Very modern and the lighting is nice, The dash is a bit confusing just because im not used to it. I feel like they went a bit too far trying to make all icons look fancy but its a bit of a distraction when trying to figure out what the coach is trying to tell you. Would love to get to drive on of the 45 footer Temsa's one day just to see what they feel like.

    What are some tips for a new coach driver coming into it?

    • @JWangvlogs
      @JWangvlogs  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Trucker Spuds. Thanks for your comment. Some tips i would give to someone looking to be a coach operator would be to have humility. Be humble to the profession. Its a huge game changer when your cargo talks back and can and will judge you. You are at this point no longer just a driver. You are a counselor, a problem solver for schedule conflicts, a logistics planner, a meal provider, customer service agent and a Chauffeur all in one. Your group will have many needs that will turn your solid plan into a very fluid and dynamic day that you will have to be flexible with. Its a lot of fun and rewarding if you get to you know your group and treat them like your house guests. I would say to get ready to wear a tie and dress shirt pants and shoes for long periods of time. The driving part is easy but learning how to maintain control yet making your group feel safe and cared after is the hard part while dealing with traffic and tight turns when operating the coach. It is a really fun job. Are you thinking of becoming a coach driver? I would highly recommend it!
