Groundhog Day is an American tradition, where the most well-renowned groundhog in the nation will take a stance ahead of the season. The largest celebration will be happening in Pennsylvania. Every year in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Gobbler Knob will be becoming a playground activity for those who are pondering if winter will be lasting for a few more weeks.
Groundhog Day is just nearby and in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania town, the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil are making preparations for their big day in February on the first Friday this year.
Punxsutawney Phil will be taking a look around, and in the case of him seeing his shadow, we can be expecting six more winter weeks, however, if he does not we will be witnessing spring a bit early.
On Groundhog Day, our old friend the groundhog will emerge from hibernation and make a prediction about whether winter will bring more freezing weather this year. Folklore has it that if the groundhog sees his shadow, he will go back into hibernation and the freezing weather will continue for a few more weeks. If not, warmer temperatures are on the horizon.
