    Nice job, maybe pull harder in the break to burn more speed and not get so wide, will also enable you to turn in earlier (greater than 1.2nm into the groove is a WO) and not have to be so flat till in close. Get that gear out at 300 also. The RIO calls the ball not the pilot, and Ray-Bans has a hyphen it it :) You should check out Aleraxs LSO AI script for DCS.

    Thanks... And great video. The F-14D is my favorite aircraft and I think, as tensions grow in the East, we will need the reemergence of the Super Tomcat as we have the need of a superior fleet defender.

    • @104thMaverick
      @104thMaverick  Před 4 lety +1

      Normally when aircraft arrive back at the boat they fly in front of it then turn for the downwind to give themselves time to trim the aircraft and get it ready to come on board. The SHB is only done by the best of the best who can do all of that without flying in front of the boat and while the aircraft is constantly turning all the way around in to the groove.
      In real life, it's the ultimate swag for a Navy pilot.

    Mav do you have any advice for controlling this beast in landing configuration? I’m still not at all where I want to be in terms of keeping it smooth etc.
    Best thing I can think of doing right now is to just take her up to 5 or 6 thousand feet and doing slow flight / landing configuration flight practice.

    • @104thMaverick
      @104thMaverick  Před 5 lety +4

      Matthew Kozachek just get as much practice as you can mate and eventually it will come.
      Remember to use rudder to assist with the turns when you’re slow this will help to keep the aircraft stable.
      I wouldn’t go as high as 5k, do all your slow speed stuff around 600-800 feet, that way you’re getting more time in on the altitude you’re going to be recovering from.
      The main thing is practice sir, there is no secret or substitute for time spent in the cockpit, the more you fly the better you’ll become.
      I was pretty awful when I started out but after hours and hours of practice it came to me!
      Good luck!

      104th_Maverick thanks a ton! Haha yeah the 5 or 6kft thing is habit from when I was training for a PPL. But you’re absolutely right. I realized while reading through the F-14 manual again that I wasn’t fully extending the air brake. So that will absolutely mess up the handling characteristics.
