This is by far one of the most useful things I've learned so far from countless mixing videos. I feel like I should owe you money for this.
Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. A like, Sub and maybe a share would be payment enough. 😀
LITERALLY
1000 Mid/Side tutorials later. This made the most sense. Thanks
Glad it helped! Cheers!
Dang. I wasted an hour watching 10 other useless videos of people droning on and on about or around he topic. Wish I'd watched YOURS FIRST! Thanks! Top shelf man!
Thanks so much!! Glad you found me eventually!! :)
Why can’t everyone make their explanations regarding audio this simple. Awesomeness!!!
Glad you found this helpful! Thank you!
@@LonelyRocker
How did you get the analyser to read mid and side on one track? 🤔
Bit by bit my mixes are getting clearer. This mid side stuff is a game changer.
Awesome!! Keep it going!!
The GOAT of mid side mixing tutorials.
Ha! Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed this....
After many producers failed to explain the concept to me, and like half a year later, I finally found this video... Than You so much for breaking it down so simply, you explained it really well, and my songs are much better now! I subscribed, please continue making amazing stuff like this!
Wow. I’m so happy it helped you. Glad to have you here!!!
One of the best videos on Mid Side EQ Mixing. You have made it so simple that anybody can understand it. Thanks a lot for the effort.
You're very welcome! So glad it was helpful. Thank you!
Six years into mixing and listening to lectures on Mid-Side EQ, this is by far the best video for anybody to understand it properly.
Cheers! Keep making these awesome tutorials, love from India!
Wow, thanks! Much appreciated! Glad it helped you. Cheers from Canada!
This should be on one of those lists "10 secrets the pros don't tell you". This clearly shows the reasoning behind the tips " cut the sides of the low frequencies" and "check the mix in mono" which are oversimplifications. In reality, you just have to mix the sides and the mid independently cause you can cut a mid trying to remove a resonance caused by the sides and vice-versa.
Especially if you use headphones, sides that sound very open can clog everything when they merge in the same space.
Thanks so much!! Really thrilled you found this helpful. Seems it has become one of my more popular videos. Really happy many are finding it useful. Thank you!
Hey everyone, I've just spent over an hour on CZcams trying to learn about Mid/Side Processing, and most of the other videos end up confusing you more than clarifying anything. This guy is so easy to understand and he does such a tremendous job of explaining things. I just had that A-HA! moment - the light just turned on for me after watching this. Thanks for a great walk-thru of this procedure.
So glad this helped you! And thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
about time someone explained this technique that even I understand lol missed this video only by a year thanks Lonely Rocker Salute😄☮
Ha! Better late than never!! Glad you found it helpful :)

I was really struggling to understand why I couldn't get the mud out of parts of my mix or what mid/side eq actually did but now after watching this I understand so thank you for this video 👍
Great to hear! Happy I could help. Cheers!
I love it, award winning intro too🏆
Thanks so much! Actually I have refreshed my channel a bit since this video. And built a new studio. Curious what you think of my newest intro 😎
i was waiting for this!!!, thank you
You're welcome...I got you! :)
3rd video i've watched on this topic, and by far the most helpful.
Thanks so much. Glad you found it helpful!
@@LonelyRocker a follow up question if I may. I am a little unclear on how implementing Mid/Side EQ'ing remains/is affected as the audio progresses through the signal chain. For example, if I boost the sides at the start, then the audio hits other plugins or is routed to a bus, what should i be mindful of to keep the intended results? I hope that question makes sense. Thanks again Rocker, who continues to be lonely.
@@CosmotheDane That's a much bigger question and hard to answer here. I do tackle bigger questions from my Patreon account if you were interested in joining me there. Link to that is in the description. Maybe I will see you there?

Great vid. Thankyou
Thank you! And my pleasure :)
You explain better than Streaky and many top pros, OMG where have been all these years? Thanks for even creating a CZcams chanel and teach so crystal clearly. wow. Thank you, its funny no one told us that what you pan in the center doesnt stay in center go goes to the sides too. when mono start being a little stereo shows that everything is screwed in the information we about many thing in the world by people and schools and wont say the full truth. You are amazing. one could watch a thousand videos about midside and might understand fully till this video.
Because no one is saying mono signals are not pure mono.
And I think its like even what is mono is also in both left and right speaker. and you can choose to eq it so that that eq effect is only heard in the center or around the left right.
The lingo is what most things complex, they use terms to sound fun while might be giving a wrong picture.
Thank you so much!! I honoured to have my name near Streaky. He truly is a mastering expert. But maybe I just found a way to explain M/S more clear. Hope it helps your mixes!!
Very helpful, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutoria! I understand M/S Eq so much better now.🙏👍
Glad it helped! Cheers!

No one actually is teaching about this technique. Scoop the frequency in the centre mix. After I’ve learn this technique, it was like a breath of fresh for me. I like using midside on the bus channel. It works as well. You’re awesome man.

If you load the Channel EQ as Dual Mono rather than Stereo, you can process mid and side using one instance of the plugin. (This applies to all stereo plugins in Logic, not just Channel EQ.) Insert the plugin as Dual Mono and open it. To the right of the L and R buttons is a settings button. Click it, and then you get the option to change the plugin mode from L-R to M-S and the buttons change accordingly. Now you have M and S buttons at the top of the plugin window.
Yes...I missed that for this video but discovered that since. I find that a bit cumbersome though....
This is a game changer thank you so much for sharing ! 🙏🏽😎

@@LonelyRocker I working on Vocal - Acoustic guitar(panned left and right)song , tried using span
If guitars and vocal reverb/guitar reverb are sharing same frequencies, is it considered masking?
Any frequencies that overlap can mask but many instruments can share frequencies. The trick is to carve out unique spaces for key elements of each to make them all fit. Level and panning also help to make space...it's a careful balance of all of those...
