First of all, I've enjoyed your calm, logical presentation of the pandemic over the past year or so. I'm a consumer advocate and my work has included significant research on covid and the vaccines. The only missing element of your discussion on monkeypox, from my perspective, is the percentage of those cases that had been vaccinated and boosted for Covid. I've seen many reports showing reduction of immune systems and HIV like symptoms after vaccinations. Can you provide the Percentage of those cases?

    • @LTPottenger
      @LTPottenger Před rokem +6

You are going to catch it if exposed in the it's unavoidable. Fasting can help your immune system, though.
Some of the many benefits of fasting and a lower carb whole food diet on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data:
The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers over time with extended fasting and rise from dieting
Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria and viruses by the immune system.
Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered, which is very important for a good outcome with the current pandemic.
Fasting increases nitric oxide, which has manifold postive effects like reducing arterial plaque.
Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods.
Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy!
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus.
Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility especially in women with PCOS.
It's absolutely fine for cortisol to be high while fasting, because it produces sugar from fat instead of lean tissue czcams.com/video/giEDadzoErs/video.html
Does the body prefernetially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, it never uses mainly glucose for fuel and using glucose for fuel is very biochemically damaging! czcams.com/video/Nf1jwMbvNxw/video.html
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Is fasting just the same as caloric restriction? No! Dieting increases the hunger hormone ghrelin while fasting decreases it and has many other health benefits! czcams.com/video/sVl-nilhWLc/video.html
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.
It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.
Does fasting burn muscle? In most cases no! czcams.com/video/teQIaU6wp2o/video.html
Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: czcams.com/video/5RM8GRzsIIg/video.html
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! czcams.com/video/BeC_gIR2Z14/video.html
Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections.
After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system.
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging.
Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting.
Autophagy induced by fasting even helps hair regrow.
      What breaks a fast? czcams.com/video/7aRLsCpxy3o/video.html
Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it and builds muscle!
      czcams.com/video/fJUDucBWv4s/video.html
Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice.

This reminds me of the Aids epidemic here in the U.S. back in the 1980s which started in the same community. It funny that we have over 100,000 overdose deaths a year and lots of social and economic pain here in the U.S. because of drug abuse yet Monkey pox gets front page attention. Just shows we care about some people more than others. They had us wearing masks, mandated, and taking vaccines, mandated for some or lose your job, for covid, why don't they "Madate" that people stop the risky behavior that is spreading Monkeypox, oh yea a special class of people don't have to follow rules and care about the rest of the people around them, as usual.

Since it only affected a particular group (gay men) it was known as the gay cancer. Reagan did nothing in the beginning to help and it killed so many people including those who used drugs. Covid spread as the pandemic was downplayed by the former president. So if you are looking to blame start at the top!

@@jewelstar9000 In this case with a very small affected community, taking precautions could have made a significant impact on the spread of the virus. Unlike Covid which spreads far easier and was beyond the control of lockdowns withing a short time of the epidemic. In fact I will argue that by the time it spread out of China, lockdowns did little but cause long term economic harm, though it did give time for vaccines to be created. This virus seems to have affected mostly a very specific population in a very specific locations and the numbers are actually quite low now. Especially in NYC where they went all in on Mask Mandates and lockdowns for Covid so why not now with this. The fact that it is a small localized outbreak that is more difficult to transmit means that a short refrain or caution given to behavior that spreads this virus probably would have had a significant effect. The reason they did not do this was the group its effecting. The shame is they are doing more damage to that group and everyone else by not doing what they know they should do because of political correctness. I do not dislike this community, I just have a problem with the double standards associated with it, either go one way or going the other.
I agree that with covid a more middle of the road approach would have worked better. I remember when they had a "lockdown" where I live and I would go out for a run and see everyone having parties at their houses as soon as they called for lockdowns. I think in many ways some governments did, and still do, take actions to combat covid that are too severe and actually counterproductive in both the short and long term. I also think that the authoritarian approach of some governments with covid and the false and misleading information presented by them to the public has severely damaged a good portion of the publics trust in the governments making it harder for them to be taken seriously during the next crisis. I agree people are social, that's part of human nature. But then again a little common sense from all parties go along way. Impulse control is a big factor in not only success but also long term survival.
To me the way Governments react to things seems to be based more on how much power they can grab out of the issue, rather than actually trying to mitigate the problem for actually living breathing working felling human beings.

After the lockdowns traveling and group activities were on the rise.

any psychopath tyrant/s planning on world domination/control (fascist or similar) would first need to achieve one goal:
1: find a discreet way to kill off 80-90+% of the world's most educated cohort
      Why?
'discreet' because you don't want the world you seek to control being effectively uninhabitable due to being covered in radioactive nuclear fallout for thousands of years so 'nuclear' war is out plus it indiscriminately kill the many milions of obedient subservient slaves you will need to grow food etc AND a 'traditional' war that wipes out your target of 80-90% of educated peole will take many years, and require America's or China's military participation, which they will not give. Without them current world powers it will cost you trillions of dollars only to lose.
why 90% most educated must be killed?
they are the most likely to know how best to effectively oppose you and then successfully bring down you and your fascist regime. they are skilled communicators so can recruit millions of others against you,
they know what freedoms rights ARE so they are most motivated to destroy your fascist Regine scrapping them all. they also create the demand side of 'global warming' pollution. so if they're dead the 'tipping points' will be significantly delayed and/or forever avoided.
in short the people in "the west" must be wiped out for your global fascist regime to have any chance of success.
DISEASE is your most viable solution. So, next step is to work out How best to utilise disease ?

And if now, all the sudden, there is an outbreak of an auto immune condition related virus, it would make sense that those who contract it, would have a immune system compromise, bringing out more viral occurrences, due to their compromised immune system. Therefore making anything more viral. Continuing the narrative just as planned. But most are unaware of it. Just they see the results, never understanding that they are the part of the plan, at the expense of their health.

I recall in the relatively recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa that that virus was also discovered in seminal fluid, and in some men those viral particles remained active for months after the infection seemed to have cleared up. This is likely due to the fact that that seminal fluid is relatively immunologically privileged (the immune system is not very active there). I fear we could see a similar extended period of infectiousness for those who catch monkeypox this way.

ECDC: "Treatment is primarily symptomatic and supportive (alleviation of fever and pruritus, hydration), including prevention and treatment of secondary bacterial infections. Antivirals tecovirimat, brincidofovir and cidofovir are potential options for severe cases. Only tecovirimat has market authorisation in the EU for the treatment of orthopoxvirus infection, including MPX. Limited data on efficacy and safety exist currently, while clinical studies are ongoing in Africa.
There is currently no vaccine that is specifically licensed for use against MPX in the EU/EEA. Previous vaccination against smallpox can confer cross-protection against monkeypox, which was estimated from older studies to be as high as 85%. The protective effect of smallpox vaccination wanes with time, although serosurveys indicate that it can last more than 20 years. However, it is believed that despite the waning effect smallpox vaccine confers, lifelong protection against severe disease can occur due to memory B and T cells therefore some degree of protection should be expected in the population of adults in the EU/EEA currently over 50 years old."

The UK Government Technical Briefing #4 gives the total number of confirmed cases in the UK alone, as of 20 July, as 2162. This compares with a total number of confired UK cases of 846 in Technical Briefing #2 (data to 22 June). How does this latter total square with the NEJM study results, which indicate a total of only 528 infections diagosed between 27 April and 24 June, across 43 sites in 16 countries (using the UK diagnostic criteria)? Additionally, while on the balance of probability it appears likely that most of the infections were due to sexual contact, the NEJM article goes only as far as to say this mode of transmission is 'suspected'. There also appears to have been an assumption by Dr Campbell that the virus can now be transmitted via seminal fluid; this seems, however, unclear as it is unreported in the NEJM article how fluid specimens were collected for analysis and thus could have been contaminated via contact with suppurative lesions in the area of the urethral meatus. Furthermore, the article adds the caveat that "it is unknown whether the viral DNA detected in these specimens was replication competent". The Data Collection Methods section of the NEJM article notes that "Each contributing center completed a deidentified structured case report spreadsheet developed on May 31, 2022 (Fig. S2)" but fails to show this figure, so the method by which case details were recorded is unclear. Finally, the footnotes to the table of Diagnosis and Clinical Characteristics state that 'some people underwent testing at multiple sites' (and therefore might have been counted more than once), and that more than one site per person may have been reported. Despite peer-review, there therefore appear to be several points of uncertainty in this paper and, I'm afraid to say, it therefore cannot be regarded as a definitive snapshot of the current situation.

Thank you for the information. My niece has been in the hospital for almost a month. The doctors don't know what's wrong. They have tested for just about everything but Monkeypox. She went into the hospital with problems breathing. She was on a ventilator for about 2 weeks. She is now on a trachea. She also had a swollen body which made her unrecognizable. Luckily the swelling has gone down. She had a lesion on the side of her face, near the temple and ended up with more on her body within a matter of 2 weeks. She now has jaundice. Fevers have been an issue. She tested positive for herpes and negative for chickenpox. The more I learn about Monkeypox, the more I seriously wonder if this what she has. She's been treated with Antibiotics. A biopsy of her liver will be taken tomorrow in hopes that they will discover the leading cause of her condition. I'm praying the doctors figure it out.

Somebody in this comment section mentioned that Monkeypox seems to have almost the same epidemiology as HIV in terms of social communities and by sexual behaviour. If this is true I wonder if the spread of HIV could serve as an analog for the spread of Monkeypox. HIV is something that we have decades of data for and if we can extrapolate from HIV, that would make the forecast of and hence prevention efforts for Monkeypox WAY easier than if starting without any data. Analogs can be powerful tools in natural science.

Many people know how DNA vs RNA viruses work and many are going to ask questions..."DNA is a more stable molecule than RNA, and DNA viruses have a proofreading check as part of their reproductive process. They manage to use the host cell to verify viral DNA replication. If the virus makes a mistake in copying the DNA, the host cell can often correct the mistake. DNA viruses therefore do not change, or mutate, much. RNA, however, is an unstable molecule, and RNA viruses don’t have a built-in proofreading step in their replication. Mistakes in copying RNA happen frequently, and the host cell does not correct these mistakes. RNA virus mutations are frequent and can have important consequences for their hosts." So what are the odds that a mutation would take place at all...very small. What are the odds that the mutations would just happen to occur now...much smaller.

It's reported that they still had gay orgies in the middle of the monkey pox epidemic in San Francisco and that after monkey pox starting spreading there wasn't a cry to stop unsafe sex for a while, but instead to rapidly get a monkey pox vaccine out into the city so that risky unsafe sex practices can continue.
