On this December 26th, 1963, episode of The Jimmy Dean Show, Rowlf finally meets Lassie and serenades her with the song "Honey," replacing the title endearment with her name.
WOW! I didn’t know that Rowlf was that ancient. I bet that he’s blessed that he was created way before Miss Piggy made her debut. Sure Kermit made his debut seven years before Rowlf. But unlike Rowlf, Kermit was not an overnight success. It would take a good long while for him to become The Kermit that we all know and love.
Yeah, always wondered why it was so hard to find acting dogs that matched their character's sex. Toto in Wizard of Oz was played by a female dog called Terry too
@WiseDeerLady it’s because I non-spayed female Collies are known for shedding a lot when they’re in heat and spayed ones are known to become fat after they get fixed.
Hello !! Thanks for posting i remember watching the jimmy dean show all the time as a kid just so i could see ralph. I remember this one bit where it was some christmas special and ralph did a solo sing of have yourself a merry little christmas and since i heard that its been stuck in my head and i cant seem to find it anywhere online, if you have it, could you please post it this christmas? It'd really make my day. Thanks again !
Also im aware there are multiple versions online while looking for it but the one i remember had ralph wearing some sort of sleeping hat? and it was all black in the background and was snowing.
I reviewed my collection and, sadly, I do not have the version you are referring to. I have another instance of Rowlf singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" on The Jimmy Dean Show, but not the version you are looking for.
Lassie certainly was played by a male dog through the years. During this, I'm guessing everyone knew that, except Rowlf. No one had the heart to tell him!!
Well Jim was supportive of LGBT people, including letting Richard Hunt, a gay man, become part of his team. Not saying Rowlf is gay, as he clearly refers to Lassie as a "she", but the idea of Rowlf knowing the dog's gender and still going for *him* isn't too farfetched.
In the original book Lassie was a tri-color, but the tri-color female collie that they originally got for the movie was unwilling to do some of the scenes so was replaced and the rest is history
also why ask for a commercial that's already been mirrored several times from young users (Merita Bread - Brand X) for kermiclown to upload. camera or not its not like he has every gold mine of the muppets. when hes uploaded em all, hes uploaded em all.
“Dogs only bark? Then what am I? A kangaroo?” Seeing Jimmy struggling to come up with an answer for that question cracked me up!! 😁👍
I love how Jim Henson could break Jimmy Dean
Such a cute and beautiful dog and the collie's not half bad either.
Jimmy seemed to really enjoy Rowlf.
Shows like this were pivotal especially to a nation still very much in mourning. Was nice to tune in, forget, and laugh
Silly Rowlf! He’s so cute and cuddly.
Oh , this was great. I even remember seeing this as a kid when it came on tv.
And it was great every week! Great show, and Rowlf and Jimmy's portion was always a hoot.
Rowlf and Lassie a love story 💘
I wish that ship was real right?
If you're depressed this will fix you and laugh
Thanx so so much, KermiClown, for sharing!
Love Jimmy Dean, Jim Henson, and Lassie. RIP all. Thanx for the music, magic and memories.
Rowlf forever!
Lassie doesn’t die only the dogs who play her do
My 2 favorite dog characters, So cool 😎

Lassie really was a great dog, she did great with Rolf the doug
In real life Lassie was played by male dogs. So in reality she’s a he.
@@1lunawolf263 would Lassie be considered a Drag Queen these days.
@Hailey Shannon No!

I remember this one too.
Bravo!
Jimmy Dean looks and sounds like he could be a brother out cousin to Dolly Parton.

Rowlf will be disappointed. The Lassie dogs on tv were not females.
Wasn't Lassie normally played by a male dog? I kind of remember reading something about that.

Yes. I found myself wondering about Rowlf & Lassie's Crying Game revelation...

The trainer was also the owner too. I'm sure he had a female collie too. (Generations of future lassies)
I ship it.
Do you have these Jim Henson Commercials?
1. Community Coffee - Exploding Cigar
2. Calso Water - Cannon
3. Merita Bread - Brand X
I do not. I have posted all of the commercials that I have.

Weirdest Video from back in the 60s. Tom & Jerry was better.
