- The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) was established in 1882. A separate Naval Investigative Service (NIS) was established within ONI in 1966. In 1992, as part of a restructuring following "Tailhook" sexual misconduct scandal, NIS was rebranded as the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The TV show bearing the initials began on CBS in 2003, and has since had shows set in Los Angeles and New Orleans. A Hawaii version was announced in 2021.
The episode "Everything Starts Somewhere," airing November 24, 2020, established that Leroy Jethro Gibbs met Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard in 1980 -- and that Ducky, himself a former Captain in the British Army, previously rented the Alexandria, Virginia house where Gibbs lives.
The younger Gibbs is played by Sean Harmon, Mark Harmon's son. Adam Campbell, the English actor who has played the younger Ducky in scenes set between 1969 and (so far) 1980, was born in 1980. He not only looks like a younger version of David McCallum, but could pass for McCallum's earlier character, Illya Kuryakin on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - Zábava
I would really like to see a "prequel" series about a young Gibbs and Ducky.
That definitely would be something to watch... and get to see his real life son more play Jethro and whoever played younger version of ducky and how he got his name you know
@@cassandraleberta8343 Mallard is a type of "duck".
That would be great
exactly Have it set during the early years of Gibbs's career as a Probie under Mike Franks
This looks like Jethros house
Ducky. It was a privilage knowing you existed. I will treasure those memories of you forever.
Ducky is always wearing elegant 🥰
Those two real MVPS 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love them both 🥰
Rip Doctor Mallard
Gibbs bought Ducky's old house
Sorry, Gibbs had this house when he was married to Shannon. That's why he didn't sleep in the bedroom after she died.
Ducky sold his house and moved into a "Brownstone" after him Mum died.
the house was ducky's then gibbs got it @@karltork6040
The actor who plays young Gibbs is Sean Harmon, and the actor who plays young Ducky is Adam Campbell. I agree that if they're going to add the Gibbs and Ducky storyline to NCIS: Origins, or even better, make the Gibbs and Ducky thing its own spin-off, those are the actors that need to portray them.
I have watched David McCallum "ducky" for years
That really is nice old wainscoting. 😆
What I don't get is why Gibbs didn't know Ducky when he woke from the coma, and how Ducky didn't know about Shannon. Poetic license, I guess....
Yeah I think thats just plot wholes on the writers part.
Gibbs and Ducky went their separate ways, and diffrent career paths, before Ducky came back 10 years after and Gibbs never talked about his loss
I was wondering that too. In one episode when they were younger Ducky did know about Shannon.
Ducky never knew about Shannon or Kelly and it shown way after the two part episode where Gibbs was temporarily retired in Mexico.
I'm miss you all daily, but the second stroke really hurt me. I have to be really careful or I'm on my face, I fall a lot and am trying to make sure I can keep my home. I have so many places, I would like my ashes spread. Mark you will always have my love and heart ❤❤❤
I think I read the young Gibbs is one of Mark Harmon's sons.
Yes, it's Sean Harmon.
Yes Sean, his wife also plays in the show in Gibbs last season too the reporter that tells him about the serial killer before he leaves to Alaska
He is Mark Harmon's son Sean.
I really hope they keep this actor for ducky in the prequel.
A 40-year friendship huh? That may be true but then could someone explain why Gibbs wouldn’t come for a tribute for his closest friend? 😢
So ducky's house became gibbs house
Nice job
How come young Ducky has an English accent and older Ducky has a Scotish accent?
David McCallum was from Glasgow. Adam Campbell, who plays younger Ducky, despite his Scottish surname, is from Somerset, in the West Country of England. An in-universe explanation might be that spending so much time in England with the British Army might have affected Ducky's accent somewhat, to the point where, sometime after, he decided to reassert his Scottishness and revert to his natural accent.
