  • How to make Homemade Water Kefir with grains purchased from Cultures for Health. Also, how to take it a tasty step further to make a fizzy and delicious Water Kefir Soda.
    Recipe (for previously activated grains):
Once your grains are activated per the company's instructions,
-melt 1/4c of sugar in 1/2c of hot water
-add 3 cups of cold water to the hot water sugar mix
-allow water to cool to room temperature
-add in activated grains and cover with a breathable fabric
-leave in a temperate location for 24-36 hrs or until the mixture is cloudy and smells a bit sweet and yeasty
-once fermented, strain out grains and save them to repeat the process
-drink the strained liquid as is, or add juice or flavoring to taste
-OR mix in 1/2c of juice to the liquid
    -pour into a fermenting bottle
-rest in temperate location for an additional 24-36 hrs
    * "burp" every 12 hours to release pressure and check level of fermentation
-soda is done when bubbles form and carbonation fizzes up the neck of the bottle
    -pour a glass and enjoy!
**store fermented water kefir and/or soda in the refrigerator

After learning about water kefir and purchasing and following the fermentation guide, and then visiting 3 CZcams sites for directions, which all left me a bit uncertain with missing, unclear steps that left me somewhat confused, I finally stumbled upon your site.

For my secondary ferment I thaw frozen fruit in a blender and blitz it with a spoon of organic sugar a heap of vitamin c powder and ginger then add the primary water kefir and blitz again. Distribute equally in swing top bottles and ferment 1.5 days or so. The bugs are definitley consuming the vitamin c probably making it more bioavailable.

this is really a good video. it is very informative and really very well delivered. thanks. now comes my question...i have read several discussions on the internet in which it is said that a person should drink only 1-2 cups of Kefir each day. they say that more than this will cause cramping and other uncomfortable side effects. what do you think about this?

This is the third video where the first steps are left out. How did you create the first one that you have in your hand?

Is there a way to make this to where it's not carbonated by any chance? If not is it only slightly carbonated? I had rny gastric bypass a couple years ago and I'm not supposed to drink carbonation but I'm interested in this for the probiotics. Thanks
