I think it's also worth noting that marrying young doesn't always equal a bad marriage or divorce. There are many couples who have married in their teens or early 20's who have had long and healthy marriages. Marrying young may be right for some, but not for others so to each their own.
My husband and I got married in our 20s and we're still going strong. We'll be celebrating our 16-year wedding anniversary in a few months...inshaAllah. Getting married young doesn't determine whether you'll stay married or not; compatibility determines that.
I broke tradition on my 22nd birthday

I guess I’m just speaking from my own experience… I definitely want to be financially stable and established in a career before thinking about marriage as it is a big commitment, and often times that doesn’t come until at least after you graduate from undergrad ( and even longer if you want to go to med school, law school, grad school, etc). But to each their own, glad your great grandparents had a marriage that was so strong and stable even at a young age! :)

People are getting married before turning 18? I'm pretty sure it's illegal in my country.
In my country you need special permission to marry before 18.
In the US you can get married before 18 if you have your parents consent.
In the U.S. it depends on what state you live in as to the age of consent to marry. Some require a parents permission but not all do. Massachusetts has the lowest minimum marriage age with parental consent of 14 years old for boys and 12 years old for girls.

Women were considered “Old Maids” @ 25 yrs old back in the day. Tracing my Family Tree to 1517, all the females:
- Sisters, Mother, Grandmothers, Great Grandmothers + all were teenagers 12-19 years old, when they married and stayed married to death do them part or are still married today. Today, all our children went to college first and many married in their late 20’s or 30’s. Times have changed.
Your family must have been quite wealthy if they married that young. Back then the wealthier you were, the younger you tended to marry. It’s the opposite today.
I may not have celebrities in my family but every woman on my mom’s side of the family got married at a very young age. Like 18 to 20. My grandma had my mom when she was 19 and had my uncle when she was 20
Same with my family. My mom was 19 and my dad was 23 when they got married. My mom's mom got married at 18, my dad's mom got married at 16 (she was pregnant) and my mom's brother got married at 22 to my aunt who was 18. My parents and my uncle and aunt are still together ❤️ I'm 26 almost 27 now and it kind of blows my mind that my mom had two kids by 22.

I know marrying young doesn’t always end up in divorce, but yall have to realize there was significant age gaps in some of these marriages and, therefore, one of them had the power over the other due to the different level of experience. For example, Uma Thurman and Gary Oldman. Don’t you think he was “courting” her while she was still a minor? That’s where the problem is, not really in marrying young.
