  • Trying to keep it as short as possible. I've covered kingpins more than once, but this is the first time on a 620 set. This is more to show the differences and not a complete rebuild.

    That air tool is awesome. I'm going to have to pick one up the next time I'm at HF. This is a cool project.

      +russtuff Cool project? I think we have different perspectives on it! lol!!
      I've got about 10 more sets to rebuild. I started thinking that I might just see if I can get a bigger ultrasonic cleaner....maybe that would work well so that I wouldn't have to do any of this scraping and cleaning.....just might have to see about ordering one of those in fairly soon.

      +bluehandsvideo HAHA maybe. You know I don't run a wrench these days so watching you hammer dried grease and grime from a part is how I get by. Keeps me thinking about working on my own old junk someday sooner than later.
      Would sandblasting take that stuff off the part? I've tried soaking stuff like that in my parts washer (I use white spirits) and you just can penetrate that hard grease some times.

      +russtuff If I never hammered grease off another part, I'd survive. :)
      Sandblasting would work just fine. Even the glass beads would do it....prob is that it puts so much contamination into the media. Both setups I use recycle the media. My abrasive is cheap enough that I could "open" blast, but then the local cats use it as a sandbox and I don't want to go to jail for killin' one of the little bastards!! lol
      I use odorless mineral spirits(same as yours I think) and it does not do a good job on the hard, thick stuff. Not very thrilled with it in general, but it beats the hell out of the water based degreaser from HF that I had in before.

    Is the whole youtube world up this time of the night? From the dates mentioned you have been sitting on this one for a while. Almost forgot, I want one of those gasket scrapers.

      +Amateur Redneck Workshop I'm at work. :) I sat on that one for a long, long time......still have more to edit for the next couple of parts. :)
      They actually work pretty well at scraping gaskets, too!
      Thanks!

      Had to go check it out to figure out what your were referring to. After the grease was cleaned off in the parts cleaner, I used glass abrasive to blast it clean....that's what made it look so nice. :) Thanks!!

    That stuff looks pretty familiar. So sorry my friends didn't clean that stuff prior to shipping.

    First of all, your video is really good, I am doing my self the same thing but, I wonder if you can tell me where to buy this set, becouse I buy a king pin set but the 4 bushings are the same size, and in your video are 2 kind, 2 different sizes.

    • @bluehandsvideo
      @bluehandsvideo  Před 4 lety

      Sorry for the extremely late reply! The set you have is for the 521 and earlier model. Both versions can still be bought, but the prices are going up a lot since they're getting harder to come by. This vid shows the differences better. czcams.com/video/dzbRHWhU8Bc/video.html

    that pin with the tapper that mushroomed when you hit it was probly a pushbike pin [crank to crank arm pin] because i would have thought myself it should have been hardened metal

    • @bluehandsvideo
      @bluehandsvideo  Před 8 lety

      +howietorock It's possible. It's been brought up before. New ones always come in the kit, so I've never paid too much attention to them. I've never come across a hardened one. I'm not sure it's good to put two hardened items in contact with each other like this.....and the kingpin is definitely hardened. This one did seem exceptionally soft.....and a bit different than the other, so you may well be right about it being a bike pin. :)

    So finished your 3dprinters yet? ;)

      @bluehandsvideo  Před 8 lety

      +3Dsweden I'm sure I'll have my Tiko in hand before I even touch the other two printers. lol!! At this point, I have no projected completion date for the printers. Might be able to work on them again in April. :)

    The first parts you took off at about the 1 minute to 2 minute mark, the seals. What did you do to replace them. I need to source some

      Check this page.... www.bluehandsinc.com/king-pin-rebuild-info.html Toward the bottom, there's a link to a page where we had talked about the seal options.

      @@bluehandsvideo ok. So we don't know if the seals coop was talking about worked or was it confirmed? Also, do you have any king pin rebuild kits left available to purchase, if so link?

      @@marcroszyk5937 Not sure if the link to the seal works still.....but this is the best "work around" that I know of. ratsun.net/topic/41333-kingpin-rebuild-mklotz70/?do=findComment&comment=926455
      I have plenty of 521 king pin kits, but no 620 ones and yes, they are different. If it's the 521 versions, they're the second item on my site bluehandsfab.com

    • @marcroszyk5937

      The link does not work and I need the 620 version. I'll check ebay

      @@marcroszyk5937 Sorry it didn't work. I'm assuming it's the link to the seal that didn't work. I'm not sure if that site is working or still around. I'm sure they're not the only ones selling that seal. I would imagine Moss Motors handles them too. Good luck.
