just done mine and did the same as you. Took out the two screws on the fuel tank that didn't need taking out. But mine came out a bit easier than yours.

retrorestore, I got a question about my Honda EX650 suitcase generator. Under the fuel lines theres a fork with three prongs facing up. I bought the thing at a yard sale and one of the fuel lines is on one of the prongs. There's no way the fuel lines go on the fork, right? I'm pretty good at working on things, still learning but that doesn't make any sense if the fuel lines go on the forks. I also don't see any other outlet for the fuel lines.
