I would recommend against getting the 4cyl turbocharged version. Your putting way to much stress on the little 4-banger. If you don't believe me ask Scotty Kilmer.
I got a 96' bronco xlt with the 5.8efi and ill never get rid of it. Also got a 2000 civici si and ill keep that forever too. Some cars are just good investments.
Actually the 96 ford bronco 5.8l specs are 210 HP @ 3600 RPM and 325 Ib Ft. Torque @ 2800 rpm, so depending on your rear axle gearing, that turbo system is going to be hard to compete against the v8, even in todays standards; for off roading because of the low rpm torque delivery that the 5.8L gave to most drivers. Which is why towing with it was such a blast (at least for the f150 and f250 owners during that time, and even today). Essentially getting out of a rut or up a steep incline is going to be more efficient and beneficial for the v8 engine vs a turbo system that generally relies on high rpm for boost to be produced. Obviously you can tune the computer for boost production, however in a general sense high rpm and off-roading dont usually mix unless you are running the BAJA 1000. I get it, Jeeps off-road with a NA V6 and do it very well, but off-roading with a V8 is just its own type of exhilarating fun. Just figured i'd correct the specs mentioned.
These editors always mess it up. Expedition replaced the bronco. The explorer only carried on the 5.0 engine. Probably for marketing purposes they needed an engine that would fit that was considered a quality engine.
Love the video full of detail about new bronco, the only problem I have with all these vehicle manufacturers is yes they gain a little more gas mileage but I've been a mechanic for 32 years and i can tell u now that i see all these newer vehicles coming in my shop before they even hit 100,000 miles and guess what they need a turbo that went out or both quit working and u are talking $3,000 to have that fixed if not more. Plus u put these twin turbos on these little bitty 4 cylinder engine and they start popping gaskets once the get a little bit of mileage on them!! Now take the regular v8 engines that were absolutely great and would hit 300,000 miles EASY if u took care of them before anything went seriously wrong!! So vehicle manufacturers need to stop trying to cramp a half of a gallon more every year!!! Its just the way it goes and u ask any mechanic that has been doing this as long as me or longer and they will tell u the exact same thing I just did!!!
I hope automation gets required in new vehicles in the near future. Not full autopilot, but assistance to tell knuckle heads whats around them and how fast other traffic is moving.
The comments about the four and six cylinder engines being more efficient, in this context, are somewhat misleading. A four cylinder in a big heavy SUV with a turbocharger doesn't work. It increases wear on the engine due to the need for the engine to work harder to pull around the same engine a V8 would pull around. More wear, engine breaks down faster, changing engines more frequently. If they're putting a turbocharger on the six cylinder version as well, they must be doing so, obviously, because the engine lacks the power to move the vehicle's weight around, or moving it around quickly. Or, if not, they want it to seem more zippy. Either way, that increases wear on the engine. It can put up with it longer than the four cylinder can, but still, not the best. No less, if you use a big heavy SUV in an off road application, working the smaller engines harder, you won't be saving any money on gas mileage. Same thing with towing. You might get some savings on the highway, but, even so, its hard to avoid working the smaller engine harder due to the vehicle's weight and the turbocharger. People just need to accept that a big heavy vehicle needs a V8 to pull all that weight around properly, and no matter how hard you try, weight and a big engine are very difficult to make efficient.
Your comparison needs a reliability and stamina stat. In your comparison, the 2010 NA v8 is still on the road today. The 2012 ecoboost is in the parts yard.
I gotta say some of the vehicle information was incorrect the 5.8L engine in the bronco produced 300hp at 5800 rpm. As well as the explorer is definitely not bigger than the expedition.
@@JimiMoso yes it was. The 5.8 produced 235hp or so. A few more horse power than the 5.0. also the old bronco for 80-96 was based on the f150. The new bronco is based on a ranger similar to the early explorer.
*Turbo Chargers* and *better for the pocket* are an oxymoron, in most cases their complex systems that have a tendency to break down more often because of the increased parts and the time to find and fix the problem than a single metal engine block will require. But they’re betting on infrequent use to the stated limits of capability of this vehicle. If so, and if a person won’t intend to keep it past 4 years, and live in an area where the grocery store and school are 20 mile drives in different directions, so you aren’t driving or wearing out the additives to the engine, they can be very fun cars. Just ask Scotty Kilmer.
But that engine won't be reliable..... I want a vehicle that will go and go and the turbo charged engines just won't do it from looking at other turbo charged engines
That big V8 will still outlast that 4 & 6 cylinder eco boost engine, sure the smaller engines with turbos will put out more power but it will stress it much more & wear it down sooner. Spend thousands just to save a few cents on fuel. High technology makes engines highly efficient but also highly unreliable & expensive to maintain & fix.
The thing I hate about these new high stressed v6 and 4 cylinder engines is that they may put out as much power as a basic V8, but the stress they are under doesn't allow them to last nearly as long.
My in-laws were in California on the night that Nicole was killed. It was night and a white Bronco like the one OJ was driving cut them off in that general area. My father-in-law wanted to chase it down and confront the driver. Generally his wife is all for it but talked him out of it. Just think if they had chased the white Bronco down. Imagine if it was OJ in that white Bronco? Things might have been different at the trial.

He was charged but he was innocent.
Scotty linked me to this page always great documentary style videos
Thanks for coming
It's Scotty page. He changed the name of the channel multiple times
Thank you for the help with scotty's channel!!
Our pleasure!
Yeah, OJ didn't get away, so Ford renamed it the Escape.
He did get get away with murder tho
For real ?
Except the escape is nothing like the bronco. Its front wheel drive with a v6. Its closer to a car
Top comment on CZcams!
Story about Annie is amazing. Hope you do more stories like that!
More to come!

9:58 What a little-known yet fascinating story about the bike race!
I still prefer a gus guzzling V8 to a fancy turbo charged V6. The V8 would be far more reliable.
You won't see Any 2020 models still running in 2040. Regardless of engine size. Too much alluminum and plastic, not solid built like back in the day
Good luck with Tesla in if you’re in Chicago.
HORSE馬 I was referring to pathholes got so many in Chicago area.
HORSE馬 seriously all that traffic lmfaooo
The Annie Londonderry story was a good one.
Thanks - glad you enjoyed
Ford should get OJ in a commercial and recreate that chase
That Bronco was actually A.C. Collins, that looked exactly like O.J. Simpson’s Bronco.
Love Scotty and his creators!
He’s a regular at my store it’s surreal serving this dude coffee.
Who?
Taco Cat OJ.
What? You got pictures?
Zach Conant not me personally because it’s hella weird to me but my coworkers and even regulars have taken pictures with him.
pilot /// next time he comes in just scream ‘Bronco man’ and take a ton of pictures of him.
Ford expedition is larger than the explorer.
I'm glad some one else noticed this.
Yeah that made my brain confused
These editors always mess it up. Expedition replaced the bronco. The explorer only carried on the 5.0 engine. Probably for marketing purposes they needed an engine that would fit that was considered a quality engine.
For some reason that really bothered me
Car chase gave us one of the greatest prank phone calls of all time! #RobertHiggins
Pearl handled pistol?---her sponsors were not naive, were they? Thank God 2A!
Explorer is bigger than the expedition? I think not
Another great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Scotty. I'm stuck in Asia. North American boy here.
I'm in Hanoi Vietnam right now. Going to Sapa and ha Giang loop.
Who else with me here

Not sure Scotty approves all the messages in this video about small 4-cylinders being "better for your pockets"
Especially if it's a Ford "EcoBOOM" engine, Japanese 4 cylinders are better than American 4 cylinders
I saw an EcoBEAST the other day
Is it really that hard to find a gas station on an LA freeway 😂
I like Broncos
Same, and Tesla's... But my wallet keeps death staring me...
I hope automation gets required in new vehicles in the near future. Not full autopilot, but assistance to tell knuckle heads whats around them and how fast other traffic is moving.
They should of stuck with a modern f150 front end now it looks like a freakin Toyota . Turbos are also hard on engines, they won’t last long
Great Video ~^^
Thank you! 👒
Thats a good way to advertise the Bronco.

Turbo Chargers are just another part of an engine when they get used
Your comparison needs a reliability and stamina stat. In your comparison, the 2010 NA v8 is still on the road today. The 2012 ecoboost is in the parts yard.
I’m not sure I like Turbo and Ford in the same sentence.
I gotta say some of the vehicle information was incorrect the 5.8L engine in the bronco produced 300hp at 5800 rpm. As well as the explorer is definitely not bigger than the expedition.
Thanks for the catch. It was my oversight.

Love it. Bring back ttb tho
I don't like it bring the old body back or something that look like it it look like a Jeep compass
No we fear it will lack the reliability of a naturally aspirated engine which is better for my pocket by not having a bunch of stuff to break.
Twin turbo means you ended up buying too many sparkplugs.. smh.. v6=12 sparkplugs..
You don't need 2 sparkplugs per cylinder due to twin turboing lol.
You do realize 1890s is over 100 years ago
Dude really did get away with murder...
Here from 94 celica man
If I’m in a autopilot mode my car has to know! Not predict, lay out, figure out anything if we’re to drive one it has to know what it’s doing
Elon musk is no where near Henry Ford. These are not a affordable car to everyone.
Thinking about buying a 2007 suskixl7 buy or run away
Anyone else here from Scotty?

Explorer larger than the Expedition... I think not.
Turbo charged engines are not better for my pocket
Buildin a sentry
The turbo chargers could kill the engine faster the v6 maybe big but not that big to last long especially with 2 turbo chargers. I will miss the V8's
the fuel economy in a modern day v8 isn't that bad the hellcat redeye when driven like a normal car gets 30+ miles per gallon
What was the wife and mother of three doing in a bar in 1890? Is this a fairytale?
I came here for the horses....
I was disappointed 😔
He was proved to be innocent
But that engine won't be reliable..... I want a vehicle that will go and go and the turbo charged engines just won't do it from looking at other turbo charged engines
Smaler the engine and on top of that twin supercharged the engine will not last long under that stress
V8 relates to durability. V6 TC. Not.
That big V8 will still outlast that 4 & 6 cylinder eco boost engine, sure the smaller engines with turbos will put out more power but it will stress it much more & wear it down sooner. The bronco was a piece of s*it but better than the Ford exploder💥
Omg I thought Chevy made it
5:41 "lets talk about eco-friendly" sorry but cars run off coal are not "eco-friendly" ill stick to my quote "gas guzzler"
I feel like I need to get a bike and beat her record. I also do see the similarities with Elon and Ford only time would tell.
behold a pale horse
