We lived in Esperance before moving to Perth and then back east a couple of years later, the only thing most people know about Esperance (if they know anything at all) is that picture of the roo on the beach they use for tourism. Gave up explaining where exactly in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Esperance is - neither 'directly south of Norseman on the highway' or 'just at the end of that bump on the south coast before the Bight starts' really work. South coast is the only thing that really works.
