Psalm 23 ; Psalm 27- “The Lord is my ….”

Psalm 23 and Psalm 27 are two of my favourite psalms. They always encourage me and boost my confidence. A man can have confidence in what he has accomplished or what he can do but that confidence means nothing compared to the confidence one has when his trust is in the Lord. In Psalm 23 David starts by saying “The Lord is my shepherd…”, and this shows that it is the Lord who David looks to to guide him on where he should go and what he should do. In Psalm 27 David begins by saying “The Lord is my light and my salvation”, as his light, the Lord was the source of David’s life, joy and comprehension. As his salvation, the Lord was was who delivered David from his enemies and troubles.
In both Psalms David talks about how he may face much opposition and many troubles but his confidence will still remain in the Lord. I try to connect to these psalms in the same way, reaffirming to myself that no matter what may come, my confidence will remain in the Lord forever. He is my deliverer and my protector, he will not forsake me and he will be with me in all the paths I walk and in all the things I go through.
