Hamas says they will release hostages if there is a 5 day cease fire and Israel says no cease fire untill hostages are released. There is way more to this than just hostages
The Palestinians with Hamas have never wanted a two state solution, it has been offered before. They were even given high percentage of land but no they wanted all 100%. No Arab countries wants them Eygpt, Jordania etc. They purely want a one state solution to have Israel to themselves and eradicate the Jews who sadly have been betrayed yet again. The Likud party charter states that from the river to the sea must be Israeli rule only, no two state solution. The Hamas charter since 2017 says they would accept a two state solution. Netanyahu is hanging on to power. It is unlikely that he will bring the hostages home because that will mean he surrenders to Hamas. Bringing home hostages by military means is not easy because nobody knows where Hamas kept the hostages. It is unlikely that Hamas uses the hostages as human shield but Israel's indiscriminate bombing could have killed some of them. In addition, some of the elderly hostages may need medical help and probably are in the hospitals which were attacked by Israel.

Bringing home hostages by military means is not easy because nobody knows where Hamas kept the hostages. It is unlikely that Hamas uses the hostages as human shield but Israel's indiscriminate bombing could have killed some of them. In addition, some of the elderly hostages may need medical help and probably are in the hospitals which were attacked by Israel.
