it's a 5.1 mile round trip TO THE LAKE........not the viewpoint. as a person who has been to the viewpoint a hundred times and down to the lake about 70 times (twice a year for 35+ years), and crossed the creek and walked and fished the shores and on numerous occasions climbed the far ridge overlooking Avalanche Basin (and lake) and climbed Bearhat Mt. (3 times) and even took the cross country Sperry traverse from Logan Pass to Sperry Chalet and down to Lake McDonald......i'm very familiar with the area. obviously i find great beauty and peace there. or did. i moved away over 2 years ago due to the untenable influx of people. too many. way too many. and they aren't friendly. when i moved to Whitefish in 1982, it was a very friendly, undiscovered ski resort town near a seldom visited National Park (Glacier). that has changed. a lot. too many unfriendly, inconsiderate, arrogant people.......too many.
What a stunning area of Glacier! The scenery does not look real. Even has some great waterfalls. Great job capturing the views!
