Met him at a seminar 4 days ago. He’s the real deal. I still wish I knew how he hits so hard. He hit me while I was holding a pad and knocked me back almost six feet.
Dude is legit on punching. My Shorin Ryu Sensei taught same thing really. Vertical fist is best. When tall westerners started learning karate vertical punch defeats boxing cover and is good for punching taller opponents.
Thank you for your presentation. I love the concept of wing chun emphasizing "close quarter" martial arts. I practice FMA and presently residing now in the Philippines. I am originally from Stockton, CA where my background of FMA originated from. I studied directly from the late GM Angel Cabales. I thank you so much for your emphasis of "simplicity" particularly when you are dealing with reality self-defense. Since eskrima, arnis, kali, or Filipino Maratial Arts overall deals with weaponry particularly the blade, simple movements is often heavily emphasize in order to diffuse your opponent's offensive attack. And, wing chun follows the same concept and its movements are closely related to that of FMA which is why I am very intrigue by your presentation and movements sir. I'm a student of sifu Emin Boztepi and sihin Keith Fain in the 90s. The reason that sifu Emin Boztepi teaches both Wing Tsun & Latosa Escrima in his schools is because he believed that the two arts compliment each other very well as scientific self-defense that both follow triangular principles, are practical, efficient and possess longivity (one can practice both arts well into old age). Some aikido sensei named Rokus, now preaching m.m.a. combat sport is the only effective fight training, has a youtube channel called Martial Arts Journey, has publically challenged any Wing Tsun expert to prove that Wing Tsun is effective in full contact fighting. Rokas should've been training with us in the 90s when sifu Emin Boztepi made us fight him bareknuckle, in order to pass testing/grading, and he was able to throw every attacker down without punching their face. Sifu Boztepi use to accept challengers off the street whom entered his class provided they signed a legal waiver and agreed to no-gloves, no-rules. . . Sifu Boztepi is a real fighter. Not a youtube paper tiger like Rokus.

In so doing, makes everything simple, efficient and yes practical. GM Rene Latosa used to practiced his eskrima along with some few of his students at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA in the mid '80's. A great person Rene Latosa. So, i am assuming you've also learned the Latosa System of Escrima then??
Usually, people who can make Wing Chun work already have various other arts under their belt or they are naturally aggressive like gang people. That might apply to most fighting arts.

boha, Thank you Sifu, Grandmaster Emin Botztepe this cool wing Tzun system of unarmed defense options is very easy to explain. I haven't been there for over 15 years, but in the 5 years that I took part, I recognize the great skills that you can learn in WT, but it has me scared.

There is a counter to a counter to a counter. Doesn’t make a technique ineffective because you can counter it every technique has a counter to it. You could take a bunch of time demonstrating how wing chun can be used against other styles, but doesn’t make the other styles ineffective. A lot of times the other styles beat wing chun because more practice in sparring. What you aren’t understanding and neglecting is in a real fight with a lot of distance there is a constant changing of distance. You can take the centerline and show the counters and demonstrate that Bruce’s techniques are no good, but a fighter like Bruce can take off with fast footwork and catch you coming in with boxing punches. He can also make an opening with boxing punches. Because it’s a fight with a lot going on with deception, changing of distance, changing of position of hands feet. Bruce used the centerline theory of wing chun, but understood it’s limitations and used specific techniques to bridge the gap and specific techniques to follow up and specific techniques to recover. One of the main limitations of wing chun is not practicing the bridging and recovering against a skilled fighter who knows how to spar. Training has to be spontaneous and work in action. Predetermined counters to choreographed movements is beginning of the training. Wing chun guys need to spend more time sparring their techniques with skilled opponents instead of focusing on theory. Which is probably why on paper looks good but can find countless videos of their moves not working
Agree 100%. I did WT for 5 years with a good teacher and we did freestyle sparring once a week. But the problem is that eye pokes and knee/groin strikes are such an important element of WT but nearly impossible to practice in live sparring. So we end up with a fully padded kickboxing style sparring session which isn't really Wing Tsun. I'm not sure there is a solution to this issue.
@@joemissionary1454 I believe wing chun can be very effective, but can be hard to use primarily because not very forgiving and takes a lot of composure to stick to technique. Within the style there is no torso movement no head movement involved. It also takes a lot of practice to use the low kicks to time an opponent with stop kick and use as defensive tool to check leg attacks. Bruce Lee studied fencing, savate and boxing and use that material to add agility and variability to use striking technique. I believe if someone practices the stop hits and stop kicks with the ability to maintain a good stance when moving it can be very effective. I think the key is to use the hands offensively to check the hands and be aggressive with the straight blast as well as using the low kicks as a tool to stop the opponent when advancing, and as a good offensive weapon similar to a Thai fighter using the low front kick to the legs. I think in training need to have control but use the straight blast, low kicks to thigh/shin and take the center by “sticking” to opponents guard or being able to keep the economy of motion with hands to check, parry and counter with the punches. It takes practice but need to do specific drills
I was student of sifu Emin Boztepi & sihin Keith Fain in the 90s. Sifu Boztepi required full sparring in our training. And during testing/grading he required us to fight him. Without punching our face with knuckles he was able to steal our structure and throw us down. His school of American Wing Tsun Organization was a fighting school and sifu Boztepi accepted challengers whom entered his classes off the street to challenge him provided they signed legal waiver and agree to fight no rules. He was known for defeating challengers: western boxers, muay thai guys, karatekas and shotokan guys back in the 90s. I was a competitive boxer, grappler, taught military combatives and experienced martial arts bareknuckle fighter when I met sifu Boztepi and sihin Keith Fain. But they threw me around like a rag doll when we touched hands. They invited me to use boxing, grappling, whatever I wanted to do and without punching me they stole my structure and throw me down, kneel on me and lightly touch me in my neck & throat area with rapid strikes before I realized I had been thrown to the ground. Emin Boztepi Wing Tsun doesn't require striking to dominate an attacker. It's really an art of destabilizing and stealing structure to throw an adversary down (then either escape or dominate by dropping knees into rib cage followed by carotid sinus neck & trachea throat strikes into larynx or a digital choke. It also, against multiple attackers, is used in conjunction with a blade but this isn't taught to everyone. I've trained many arts and fought competitively. I've also survived in prison, where I've used my training to survive penitentiary gladiator school. The two martial arts that had to be felt to be believed was Daito Ryu and Emin Boztepi AWTO Wing Tsun. Merely Observing one can not understand what's truly being done. Every other Wing Tsun master I've seen does not use constant forward pressure y legs with hips to uproot the lower structure while cutting & camming incoming limbs the way we do in AWTO.

As much as Emin is maybe indeed a true legend as a martial tradesman, for all I due have respect, this is just only combat & self-defense, nothing more, & martial arts. These are just only modernized & mechanized combative methodologies, they're good, that's if you are in or looking to excel in combat sports, street survival, or battlefield fighting; to call something martial arts requires something else that most of the so-called modern martial arts & crafts these days are lacking… it has to something to do with philosophy & spirituality, on at the least in & on personal base & preferences, I would like esoteric (Reiki natural healing system, I-Chang, bioenergy-welding, qigong, cosmology, arts & crafts of charka-works, biokinesis & telekinesis methodologies, holistic parapsychology, magic) to be thrown into the mix. It seems that in most of the area of the world's stage, the world & practices of martial crafts itself is not what they use to be; these so-called martial arts in modernized fashion are just efficiently effective ways to take down an attacker you might have the misfortune of have encountered on the streets, score a knockout in a ring, or kill a foe & survive on a battlefield.

Dude is legit on punching. My Shorin Ryu Sensei taught same thing really. Vertical fist is best. When tall westerners started learning karate vertical punch defeats boxing cover and is good for punching taller opponents.

Thank you for your presentation. I love the concept of wing chun emphasizing "close quarter" martial arts. I practice FMA and presently residing now in the Philippines. I am originally from Stockton, CA where my background of FMA originated from. I studied directly from the late GM Angel Cabales. I thank you so much for your emphasis of "simplicity" particularly when you are dealing with reality self-defense. Since eskrima, arnis, kali, or Filipino Maratial Arts overall deals with weaponry particularly the blade, simple movements is often heavily emphasize in order to diffuse your opponent's offensive attack. And, wing chun follows the same concept and its movements are closely related to that of FMA which is why I am very intrigue by your presentation and movements sir. Again, thank you so much for your video.
I'm a student of sifu Emin Boztepi and sihin Keith Fain in the 90s.
The reason that sifu Emin Boztepi teaches both Wing Tsun & Latosa Escrima in his schools is because he believed that the two arts compliment each other very well as scientific self-defense that both follow triangular principles, are practical, efficient and possess longivity (one can practice both arts well into old age).
Some aikido sensei named Rokus, now preaching m.m.a. combat sport is the only effective fight training, has a youtube channel called Martial Arts Journey, has publically challenged any Wing Tsun expert to prove that Wing Tsun is effective in full contact fighting.
Rokas should've been training with us in the 90s when sifu Emin Boztepi made us fight him bareknuckle, in order to pass testing/grading, and he was able to throw every attacker down without punching their face.
Sifu Boztepi use to accept challengers off the street whom entered his class provided they signed a legal waiver and agreed to no-gloves, no-rules. . . Sifu Boztepi is a real fighter. Not a youtube paper tiger like Rokus.

GM Rene Latosa used to practiced his eskrima along with some few of his students at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA in the mid '80's. A great person Rene Latosa. So, i am assuming you've also learned the Latosa System of Escrima then??

There is a counter to a counter to a counter. Doesn’t make a technique ineffective because you can counter it every technique has a counter to it. You could take a bunch of time demonstrating how wing chun can be used against other styles, but doesn’t make the other styles ineffective. A lot of times the other styles beat wing chun because more practice in sparring. What you aren’t understanding and neglecting is in a real fight with a lot of distance there is a constant changing of distance. You can take the centerline and show the counters and demonstrate that Bruce’s techniques are no good, but a fighter like Bruce can take off with fast footwork and catch you coming in with boxing punches. He can also make an opening with boxing punches. Because it’s a fight with a lot going on with deception, changing of distance, changing of position of hands feet. Bruce used the centerline theory of wing chun, but understood it’s limitations and used specific techniques to bridge the gap and specific techniques to follow up and specific techniques to recover. One of the main limitations of wing chun is not practicing the bridging and recovering against a skilled fighter who knows how to spar. Training has to be spontaneous and work in action. Predetermined counters to choreographed movements is beginning of the training. Wing chun guys need to spend more time sparring their techniques with skilled opponents instead of focusing on theory. Which is probably why on paper looks good but can find countless videos of their moves not working
Agree 100%. I did WT for 5 years with a good teacher and we did freestyle sparring once a week. But the problem is that eye pokes and knee/groin strikes are such an important element of WT but nearly impossible to practice in live sparring. So we end up with a fully padded kickboxing style sparring session which isn't really Wing Tsun. I'm not sure there is a solution to this issue.
@@joemissionary1454 I believe wing chun can be very effective, but can be hard to use primarily because not very forgiving and takes a lot of composure to stick to technique. Within the style there is no torso movement no head movement involved. It also takes a lot of practice to use the low kicks to time an opponent with stop kick and use as defensive tool to check leg attacks. Bruce Lee studied fencing, savate and boxing and use that material to add agility and variability to use striking technique. I believe if someone practices the stop hits and stop kicks with the ability to maintain a good stance when moving it can be very effective. I think the key is to use the hands offensively to check the hands and be aggressive with the straight blast as well as using the low kicks as a tool to stop the opponent when advancing, and as a good offensive weapon similar to a Thai fighter using the low front kick to the legs. I think in training need to have control but use the straight blast, low kicks to thigh/shin and take the center by “sticking” to opponents guard or being able to keep the economy of motion with hands to check, parry and counter with the punches. It takes practice but need to do specific drills
I was student of sifu Emin Boztepi & sihin Keith Fain in the 90s.
Sifu Boztepi required full sparring in our training.
And during testing/grading he required us to fight him.
Without punching our face with knuckles he was able to steal our structure and throw us down.
His school of American Wing Tsun Organization was a fighting school and sifu Boztepi accepted challengers whom entered his classes off the street to challenge him provided they signed legal waiver and agree to fight no rules.
He was known for defeating challengers: western boxers, muay thai guys, karatekas and shotokan guys back in the 90s.
I was a competitive boxer, grappler, taught military combatives and experienced martial arts bareknuckle fighter when I met sifu Boztepi and sihin Keith Fain. But they threw me around like a rag doll when we touched hands. They invited me to use boxing, grappling, whatever I wanted to do and without punching me they stole my structure and throw me down, kneel on me and lightly touch me in my neck & throat area with rapid strikes before I realized I had been thrown to the ground.
Emin Boztepi Wing Tsun doesn't require striking to dominate an attacker. It's really an art of destabilizing and stealing structure to throw an adversary down (then either escape or dominate by dropping knees into rib cage followed by carotid sinus neck & trachea throat strikes into larynx or a digital choke.
It also, against multiple attackers, is used in conjunction with a blade but this isn't taught to everyone.
I've trained many arts and fought competitively. I've also survived in prison, where I've used my training to survive penitentiary gladiator school.
The two martial arts that had to be felt to be believed was Daito Ryu and Emin Boztepi AWTO Wing Tsun.
Merely Observing one can not understand what's truly being done.
Every other Wing Tsun master I've seen does not use constant forward pressure y legs with hips to uproot the lower structure while cutting & camming incoming limbs the way we do in AWTO.

As much as Emin is maybe indeed a true legend as a martial tradesman, for all I due have respect, this is just only combat & self-defense, nothing more, & martial arts. These are just only modernized & mechanized combative methodologies, they're good, that's if you are in or looking to excel in combat sports, street survival, or battlefield fighting; to call something martial arts requires something else that most of the so-called modern martial arts & crafts these days are lacking… it has to something to do with philosophy & spirituality, on at the least in & on personal base & preferences, I would like esoteric (Reiki natural healing system, I-Chang, bioenergy-welding, qigong, cosmology, arts & crafts of charka-works, biokinesis & telekinesis methodologies, holistic parapsychology, magic) to be thrown into the mix. It seems that in most of the area of the world's stage, the world & practices of martial crafts itself is not what they use to be; these so-called martial arts in modernized fashion are just efficiently effective ways to take down an attacker you might have the misfortune of have encountered on the streets, score a knockout in a ring, or kill a foe & survive on a battlefield.
