Looking back Oksana's skating offered "high art" to the masses. She was one of the few skaters who offered cultural exchange in every performance. Ice skating at this level is above Disney On Ice. Oksana was expressive and culturally relevant in almost all of her performances able to translate high art to her audiences. Yet she could perform rock, & pop too. Her TALENT & work ethic has no equal.
Good job by commentator letting us see what is unique about her and what skating for an audience really requires. Intelligent, mature and knowledgeable.

Her little girl is skating. I follow her on IG and she did say the media and skating community turned on her. She seems very happy with her life now with her husband and young daughter.
When she looks up and finally unveils herself from the leafy curtain under which she was hiding on a musical peak, it's a very powerful, vulnerable and beautiful moment.
This is one uniquely gorgeous program. I wasn't able to fully appreciate this at the time due to all the insults her skating often received not to mention all the negative publicity she always got.
Even this number looks beautiful now it didn't back then. Time has allowed me to see how beautifully unique she really was in truth. There was too much negative commentaries about her 24/7. They really were jealous of her so many skaters really hated her just for breathing.
As I've written elsewhere, she was to become our first (and only for a long time) female Actor on the ice. Had the cards been in her favor, she could have set the world of stage on ice with her as the main protagonist. Alas, such was not to be. But we can see it in her, no matter.

I don't know how anyone can say she's 'underrated', she is a championship Olympic GOLD Medal athlete.

This is such a beautiful program, it just makes me want to cry. I wish she was still involved with skating and would coach elite skaters.
