So, what do you think? Will these be your first cine glass set?
Will be mine - ordered the set of 3
YES
ordering mine tomorrow for my birthday along with FX30!
I really love the look but i am debating whether I should get these or a sigma 30mm prime for the AF as a photo+video use case.
I don't mind MF when i use my helios which is i am confused whether i should get a cine lens or prime. Does it really matter if i shoot video on photo lens
@@starfox2013 if youre shooting photo and video definitely grab the still lens.
OMG this is the PERFECT structure of a lens video review. Right amount of talking, showing, etc... please repeat for other lenses!
This was a really good review, covering a lot of points about how you would practically use these lenses in real life, connected to performance. Really nice.
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
As always, best review out there my man! These are genuinely my first ever cine set. I’ve owned a few random cine lenses before but never a set, so rad!
Thank you bro! And same! The set comes in so clutch.
How's it??
Been shooting with the Fuji 16-55 & 501-40 lately but been itching to get some quality cinema glass for the price. Your video was the one that made me pull the trigger on getting this today. Great review!
That's awesome to hear, I'm excited for you! You're definitely gonna love 'em. Thanks for the comment.
hey thanks for the comprehensive review man!
Absolutely!
I think the image you get out of the xh2s is the best of all creators around here. Great review btw.
Thank you!
very informative ✊🏾
Can't wait to get my hands on them. Right now, I am testing out X-mount cine glass with DZOfilm, Irix Cines in the pipeline. So Sirui is a very exciting option for me (especially as I really love the Anamorphic X-mount version). ...
Oh sick! Can't wait to check out the DZO x-mounts...
Awesome review and love the footage you got out of these! Now to decide if I want the 24 or the 35 🤔
If I had to choose just one for a crop sensor I’d probably go with the 24mm
Cool lens. Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
No problem 👍
Looks sick!
Yeah man!
Thank you so much for this video and your opinion, came here from your awesome "kitchen" video.
great video and great lens!
Great review. I have 2 of the 7 Artisans, but these are really interesting to me. How are the color shifts between lens? Accurate or a little off? I want a set of their anamorphics as well, but I might give these a try soon.
I haven't tested the color consistency between the lenses. I'm not as concerned about that as I'm balancing and grading anyways, plus I use VND's a lot of the time which shift the colors as well.
Loved this video, was thinking about purchasing one of these lenses but had a question that may well help me decide. I wanted to shoot some portraits, like the smooth skin textures but I can't decide which lens is better suited for that. Would the 24mm still do fine or would a 35mm be the better option for me?
Have you looked into the Sirui Sniper Series lenses? Probably a much better option for shooting portraits, they seem similar to the Nightwalker but with autofocus, which would be handy especially when shooting photos at f1.2.
If I were shooting solely portraits I'd probably go for the 35mm, but the 24mm is still my favorite all-around focal length for these.
Love these lenses! Do the have RF mount for canon? Or would i need an adapter? Thank you for the video!
They're great! I have the X-Mount version for Fuji. They sell them in E/X/RF/MFT.
those flares Look so good
Yeah, super smooth!
Were you able to check WB and color between the three to see if they match? I worry consistency within the set is where Sirui may have cut cost.
I haven't checked. I'll have to test that sometime in the future. For me, that spec doesn't matter as much, because I'm grading and balancing all the footage anyways. Plus, I'm using VND's a lot of the time which also alter the color balance.
I’d love to see a comparison between the Sirui Night Walker Cine T1.2 - 24,35,56 set to the Viltrox Cine T1.5 - 23,33.56 set and the Mitakon Speedmaster T1.0 MFT Cine 17,25,35,50 set. Let them battle it out.
That would be a great comparison. Unfortunately I only have the Nightwalkers
as a fashion / concert / unit photographer I’m kinda stuck on these or the anamorphic. I mainly use my 7Artisians 35mm 1.2 (though i have used most Fuji lenses)
what’s the framing like on these? Are they any better than their anamorphic series?
Can you clarify what you mean by "framing"?
Great video! I think I will try the 24mm with my Sony FX30...a good general lens I think...
Great combo
Very nice review. Is there any vignetting if using one of these with a full frame censor camera like the Sony a7sii?
Thanks! Probably, since they’re designed only for APS-C coverage
Nice review. I’m considering these lenses, but i shoot on a c100 mk2, i know its old, but i love it. Any ideas where there may be an adapter? I have looked all the usual places, but can’t seem to find an EF to *insert mount* E OR M4/3 etc, adapter. All the best and i hope this finds you well. Cheers
Unfortunately, according to my understanding, none of the mounts on this lens are adaptable to EF mount. I believe this is because of the flange distance, making it physically impossible.
If I had the money right now, I'd have already ordered a set tbh.
What lens did you use to show in flare stamp in this video? Is the 35mm t1.2?
Great review as always.
#prettygood
Please for A7C, I require 35mm plane is used for full frame o 24mm, i dont want to cut apsc?
I was thinking about getting rokinon t1.5 cine lenses but are these Sirui t1.2 lenses better?
I haven’t used the Rokinons so I can’t say definitively, sorry!
which lens for gh6 will be approximate as in conjunction with Sony fx3 with sigma 16 1.4? so that I can take a very high-quality video of yourself at arm's length with limited space?
I’d go with the 24mm Nightwalker with that use case
Are these compatible with Sony a7iii camera?
The thing that I don't get is what is the actual difference between a cinema lens and a photo lens? Is it something artsy that I don't understand? My Canon photo lens can autofocus perfectly and the image quality is amazing. I'm seriously asking this question because I do photo and video. I did want to test out a faster lens so I ordered these not realizing they were super 35 and I have a full frame Canon R5C. That being said I'm considering keeping them and shooting in super 35 mode. I'm wondering though what the benefit would be other than the faster aperture? Then having to rig it up with a follow focus or by DJI's newer focus system. I do have their older one but it works with the gimbal alone.
How do these do against the 7artisan vision cine lenses?
I can't say personally, as I haven't used them or done a side by side comparison. Sorry!
im tempted to get the 24mm
On a crop sensor, 24mm is one of my favorite focal lengths.
What about the mount? I shoot a Nikon Z9. Thanks for the review!
They do not have an N mount for this lens, so you'd have to adapt it to E/X/RF/MFT
Nice. How's the breathing on all 3 lenses? Looks like its minimal.
Yes that's right, very little breathing. On the 24mm I didn't notice at all.
@@EvanSchneider what about chromatic aberration when shooting wide open?
@shridexdigi1982 there's a fair amount of chromatic aberration
Can you please do a video of you putting together your rig with the Siriu lenses
Yes, I'll keep that in mind
@@EvanSchneider thank you for replying!
Thanks for sending me theses lenses I will keep them and use them for my client work...immediately sells them lol.
Still have them and still use them
If you had to carry only one sirui lens for your fuji, which one would you take?
I actually think I’d actually go for the 16mm! It’s a great focal length on the crop sensor for all around stuff. That or the 24mm would be a close second.
So would these be usable on my full-frame camera without going into APS-C mode?
Honestly I’m not sure. I’d recommend searching for videos from people shooting with them on full frame
Aye aye capn’🫡
Hello does sirui night walker series works on fujifilm xh2s ?
Yes they make an x-mount version
@@EvanSchneider does full frame lens works on apsc lens ?
I am new to lenses, would this work on my EOS M50 Mark ii?
They are not compatible with EF mount, no
@@EvanSchneider I appreciate the quick response! I am having a hard time getting into the world of camera and lenses and mounts etc. All I know is that I’m looking for a cinematic/cinema lens for my M50. I’ll keep looking though
anyone try an anamorphin adapter/filter with these?
I haven’t seen anyone do that yet
I use the sirui 1.25 adapter. On the 24 t1.2
i definitely need a 10mm for mft and i can purchase a set of 10 , 24 and 56. that would be my perfect set
Yeah, a wide would be dope. The 24mm is pretty nice though!
Too bad the set isn't including a 4th 16mm lens for that wide shot.
You’re in for a nice surprise here shortly 🤫
“Pretty nice to use”? I appreciate the video and the time these thing stake to make but to be honest i find this kind of review very irritating. I appreciate that these lenses have been given to you and maybe you dont feel it appropriate to make direct comparisons with other lens manufacturers by direct comparison and name them but this advertorial style of review remains so vague and everything becomes so meaningless. Is the 35mm softer at f2 than your art series equivalent? Fringing?? Chromatic aberration? The lack of technicality and reference to other lenses make this a meaningless fluff piece simply because it says so little and uses phrases like “pretty nice” to describe most attributes. I get it you are keeping the lenses and like getting free gear but seriously a little more definitive detail and technicality would go a long way. If you are looking for a budget cine lens these could be good?? Maybe just put that up as text at the start and we could save a lot of time. Thx
It helps to watch the entire video. I go over many of these topics and share my opinions throughout. I even compared it to the Sigma Art photo lenses. Did you watch that part? I’d recommend before giving feedback like this, make sure the claims you’re making are accurate. I respect your opinion on my review, but a comment like this is harsh and unnecessary, especially since this is my first video of this type (which I also mention at the beginning of the video).
I also said I’m happy to answer any questions, so if you’d like further info, you could just ask.
@@EvanSchneider i appreciate your response and i watched the entire video. I dont make the comments to be anything other than critically constructive. Nothing personal. That’s exactly how i would love reviews to be. Theres just not enough hours in the day to hope for something approaching a definitive opinion. We have rental houses and retailers and of course brands outputting meaningless content simply because at the end of the day they are trying to sell the products. So brands extend this marketing by giving youtubers products to “review”. It falls ideally to independents to do more than echo the same format. Use your experience to say why you do what you do. Be dogmatic have an opinion!! Sigma why? Why not fuji or canon. Is it price quality look design …. what? If i was at a rental company testing lenses i would walk out the door if someone said hey try this cooke, its pretty nice. Relative to what?? I expect professionals to use terminology that is professional and actually means something otherwise its wholly wasted breath. Its like a politician saying that they will deal with an issue in a robust and timely manner. Meaningless. I know that you must have an opinion so please share it in a way that is meaningful. That’s what makes a conversation worth having. Thx
@@KenFlanagandude. Why are you being such a dick?! Like the man did a really great video HIS way. He didn’t do it simply please you! No one cares how much you like a review drowning with technical terminology just to fuel your ego. There’s an audience here that really appreciate his work. If you don’t, kick rocks. No need to be completely harsh over a keyboard just because it makes you feel good about yourself. Go somewhere else. Let people enjoy what they are doing.
These... do not look good.
I like them
I guess you were "given" them "for evaluation." @@EvanSchneider
🤣🤣🤣
That's your perspective. Your opinion is subjective and relative to YOUR tastes
I hope they add on to this set, on the wider side
Yes, a wider one would be great!
