  • Let's find out together who has the strongest camel rider. The imperial upgrade of the Hindustanis or the heavy camel with the multiple extra bonuses of the Gurjaras?
    Gurjaras:
deal 40% more bonus damage in Imperial Age
    are trained 25% faster
    cost 25% less food
    +4 melee armor
    (Lack Blast Furnace)
    Cost: 41/60
    Training Time: 13.23
    Hindustanis:
    attack 20% faster
    Cost: FOOD 55/ GOLD 60
    Training Time: 15.04
What are you thoughts on them?

The thing to note for camel vs camel that camel units deal bonus damage against mounted units including camels. That's why we see gurjara camels doing well against imperial camels. If you know earlier gurjara camels were ourperforming imperial camels because of 50% bonus damage so in equal numbers or 1v1 they were winning but not anymore as their bonus damage reduced to 40% now

When comparing camels you should put them up against knight line to see the actual comparison. It matters more who can counter knight line better.

Gurjara Camels are pretty badass. Their melee armor beats HP in this case. So it's pretty good unless they face something like a Leitis that ignores armor.
The Hindustani camel attacks faster so with equal numbers (they also have more HP and attack) they'll always win.
I'd say I prefer Malian camels because they have a +5 attack.

@@DemonAgeOfEmpires2-wf8lv, yup. Their cavalry are still among the best in the game despite that. Cavaliers get 19 attack and Camels get 14 attack.
No Halbs or Bracer, though, so you'd need to use Hand Cannoneers and Scorpions depending on the game.

Well honestly, both camels are needed for their own civs to counter cavs (Hindustanis only has Pikeman, and Gurjaras only has Spearman!)

Just so you know, when both were first launched, Gujaras win in equal numbers because of 50% bonus dmg. Now it’s only 40%

50% bonus damage was so good. Even cataphracts and war elephants didn't stand a chance.

We (me and a friend) have done the same test on our channel.
We kind of came to the same result that they are completely equal in melee.
(We had them them fight 50 vs 50 and the results just depended on pathing.)
But the Hindustani camel deals a lot more damage to troops that do not receove bonus damage.
    (8+4 vs 7+2)
THat simply makes the Hindustani camel a much more well rounded unit because
there are many scenarios where you do not only fight cav but also units like
Bombard cannons, onagers or otehr siege, villagers and what not.
Taking all these things into account and especially having a look at the fights
where camels might not be the best unit choice in the first place,
I would basically ALWAYS prefer the Hindustani camel, to be honest.

@@lukasvideosify1596 small note here, keep in mind that I run these test multiple times before posting them, in case there are different outcomes. But I'm glad someone is testing it in real gameplay, thanks for the extra info, I appreciate the effort!

      @@DemonAgeOfEmpires2-wf8lv Hey buddy!
We were repeating each test 3 times as well.
So basically in equal numbers who wins and who loses is just a matter of pathing.

Both are kind of equal. It matters who hits first.
However Gurjaras camel only has very high melee armor. So both have the same amount of pierce armor here. But Imperial Camel has more HP.
Against Archers Imperial Camels survive much better than Gurjaras camel.

      @schullerandreas556 Před měsícem +2

Yet the camel is mainly used as anti-cavalry, there the extra melee +7 helps way more than the extra HP.
A fully upgraded Paladin does 18 damage, with 7 Melee armor that gets reduced to 11. The result is 13 hits needed to kill a 140 heavy camel.
The +3 of the imperial camel reduces it to 15 damage. The imperial camel dies in 12 hits.
Both units have the same +18 attack against cavalry. But the the heavy camel gets one or two more attacks in.
In Age of Empires 2 focusing armor in melee is almost always more important than anything else. There are Civs with Light Cavalry that get beaten by Teuton scouts because of the +5 armor
