I am a huge fan of these two guys, were not overly friendly characters while playing, but since they started commentating I appreciate their qualities much more.
I feel Stokes opting out of the t20 world cup squad kinda shows how unessesary it rlly is. Cuz it happens like every 2 yrs. We dont wait so long we just watch it n its over. Unlike the 50 over, where we properly wait n theres a flood of excitement whenever it is close.
T20Is never saw the best of Stokes. Hope he plays the 2026 one in India

Time has come for Ben stokes to either retire from ODI and T20 rather than play bits and pieces parts. He's not helping himself or England!
He won't regret it...the day he announced odi retirement I was sure that he will play odi WC 2023, and he played it. Its like fooling oneself n others. Taken retirement then stick to it... making a u turn means team is about to perform bad n thats why they called him again...
If he has taken his name out due to his current form in T20s then its a good decision, as he will not occupy the space of a deserving player in the squad. He has taken decision for the team. On the other hand there are guys like Suryakumar who hasn't done any improvement in ODi format but still wants to play it
Stokes did the exact same thing during the 50 over world cup only to later make himself available for it later, I see same thing happening again, this is what happens when you are over dependent on someone!!

Bleeding the sport dry by having them so close! Alternative years between the girls and boys, four years apart, most of the comments appear happy with that, but ICC know what we want- burnt out players (who want to play for country and have enough to retire/security) who are injured ( physical and more important mentally) lining their pockets! Stokes still has some white ball left in him. He should play ODI’s till CWC 2027 and T20IS till WT20 2028.
Definitely need to change to T20 world cups to every 4 years. If you take into account the women's WCs then you would still have a WC every year.

Ben stokes is highly irregular in his career and this pick and choose type Players not good and especially England's obsession with ashes is not Good /great for the world Cricket ,if Stokes was keen T20WORLD Cup was the key as atmost he would bowled only 4overs in a match and a tournament of about 1month if Eng go the distance ,so very very poor decision,since stokes anyway is not Playing the IPL and had the rest , should have Played the T20World Cup

Ben Stokes is probably the most overrated player going around. I mean, he's definitely a good player who plays a fantastic innings every 20-30 ODI's or once 8-10 tests. He's at best on par with Fintoff, but no way near Beefie. The English media potrays him like he's the best alrounder after Sobers!
A little harsh.... He is a truly outstanding cricketer but probably will just fall short of greatness....
