I’m pretty sure that the people in red coats are audience members (I’m basing this solely on the way they’re acting) so it definitely alines with his joy of audience participation taken from Great Comet

King of Adapting Books that No One Thought Should Be Adapted but He Makes Them Sound Cool
I heard that, as part of his planned "Impossible Trilogy", his third adaptation(after War and Piece and this) will be of James Joyce's Ulysses!
I swear, I have only just heard about how abstractly structured the book is, but I instantly thought that Dave Malloy would be PERFECT for the job of musically adapting it!

You can tell from this show alone how much Malloy likes to include the audience in his works, I love him so much
literally what goes through dave malloy’s mind to create this music? not that i’m complaining but? are we sure dave malloy is on the same dimension as us?
Being in one of those boats was one of the only highlights of my 2020 😭❤️. Glad they didn’t get the video of the night I was there, though, was basically fangirling out the whole time.
This was my daily reminder that Dave Malloy deserves a lot more attention and respect for his music than he gets.
Also my daily sob sesh over Great Comet closing before I ever had a chance to see it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
omg I love how even the audience who isn't even brought on stage are still cheering and raising their arms up during the end! you can really see how engaged they are.

All I want is to see more footage of this or at least a recorded song.....ughhhh I love Dave Malloy and this cast so much. Seeing Starr and Nick was so cool, they have such gorgeous voices!! Also I swear I recognize the person singing with the pipe in their mouth, but it might not be who I think it is.
I saw one of the last performances of this show in January and honestly my 2020 peaked w that experience
The freaking slot machine sounds at the end are the hilarious icing on the cake. I hope I get to see this show someday

Honestly I would never have conceived the idea of a Moby Dick musical myself, but it's such a PERFECT book for the medium. I would love the chance to see this live sometime. I hope it comes back!
