I met Saul Lester some years back at his show at the MIlwaukee Art Museum. Was a unique character with a huge talent. R.I.P.
hi Jim, What a great privilege to have met Saul Leiter, I agree with what you say. Thank you for stopping by and commenting!
Saul and your photographer, atypical, many people don't understand these photos. Many people say that it's not photos, it's more paintings because his creations look a lot like paintings. To tell the truth it’s art, he did something unique, he is inimitable, he is a great master of photography, very good video
😊 Thank you for watching the Saul Leiter video and for your kind message. You're absolutely right; Saul's photos are truly unique and often resemble paintings. He's a master in his art, and it's fantastic that you've enjoyed it.
There has never been, and never will be another Saul. Greatest photographer ever to use a camera-hands down the best!
I try to learn about many photographers, but I only remember Saul Leiter, for some reason. And now I'll remember him even better.
I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful.
So good. I enjoyed very much watching your video. It is so informative and the music is perfect. Keep the good work. Thank you.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the video about Saul Leiter. Have a nice weekend!
Excellent video....but the digitally added light leaks and scratches are a big distraction.

Hi Casual Prince! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this film.
I must admit it's the first time I've seen his paintings. Is there no end to this man's talent.
Its criminal that he only got recognise in his later years . But I'm sure it was the way he would have wanted it. Just stunning art all round.
Hello! 😊 Thank you for your message! I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed the video about Saul Leiter, and it's awesome that it was your first time seeing his paintings. 🎨 He truly was an exceptional artist, wasn't he? It's true that talent is sometimes recognized later in life, but as you mentioned, maybe that's how he would have preferred it.
I hope you continue to enjoy my channel's content. 📽️ And don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already, give it a thumbs up 👍, and share it with anyone you think might also enjoy it! Stay tuned for future exciting videos. 😄

Hello Gene! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video about Saul Letter!
Спасибо создателям фильма ! Вдохновляет !
I'm glad you liked the video!
Great overview. Thank you. And ff that's not Cate Blanchett's doppelgänger at 16:27, then it's proof positive the influence that Mr. Leiter's work had on the cinematography of "Carol" (2015).
Hello John! You're right, Blanchet's photograph is inspired by Leiter's work, so it's not a photograph of him. Thank you for writing and commenting. Have an excellent Tuesday!
Saul Leiter is truly an outstanding artist with both a camera and a canvas. Great video Joel.
Hi Andrew, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video about Saul Letter 🙂

What a good YT video. Beyond good.
I met Saul Leiter at the Strand bookstore while taking a street photography class. I was on the second floor and sitting on a bench. This older man sits down on the bench and asked me if I’m going to buy his book? Which book? He pointed the book out to me and I looked at it. I really liked it. Soul and I talked for about two hours and then I bought the book. After this encounter I’ve been a big fan.
I had been in the black and white Street photography camp Until I met Saul. I now shoot a lot of color street images. I am now shooting with slower shutter speed and intentional camera movement to help create impressionistic images.
There are so many images on your video I have never seen. Thank you for sharing some of his fashion images. Interesting to see what he did with those constraints.
I know Saul did a number of nude painted and photography images. I’d like to have seen more of his none nude painted images.
All I can say about this video is WOW! Will rewatch it following this message.

Dear Martin, thank you very much for taking the time to stop by, watch my CZcams video, and leave a comment with your valuable feedback. I hope you have a nice day!
Amazing talent! Really love those colours of kodachrome.
I completely agree, he was a true master of color but the most surprising thing and what I am learning and we should learn is about his simplicity as a human being. Thanks for watching and commenting, have a great weekend!
Im so choked up, because when I first learned about Saul Leiter maybe 3 years ago or so
I could not believe the breathe of this mans images...I was in a sence blown away and sad at the time....because I was really sincerely trying these almost 100% same method and experiments inside myself with a camera and also in my thoughts...its so hard to put into words...but i felt why should I go on Saul has already conquered this form of abstraction and experimention
Then I fell in love with who he was and the things he said what he h
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts about Saul Leiter, I hope you have a nice day!
Ottimo grazie
Prego!
I can't stop looking. This, Saul, and Fred Herzog. For me literally the best of the best. With Leonard Misonne at the very top.

A really great documentation about Saul Leiter. Phantastic photographs. Great music selection. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video and leaving a comment! Your feedback and observations are greatly appreciated and help me improve my content.
Great video! So informative and insightful while giving proper space for his work to speak for itself. One issue, though: Near the beginning of the "Colour" chapter, there is one photograph of a woman looking out the window of a yellow taxi. That photo is actually a still of Cate Blanchett in Todd Haynes' 2015 film "Carol". The film, which is a brilliant, moving work and highly recommended, is gorgeously filmed. Director Todd Haynes and cinematographer Ed Lachman used Lester's photography as an inspiration for the look of the film. So while very influenced by Lester's work, that still of Cate Blanchett is not one of his photographs.
Dear Subscriber,
I wanted to drop by and send you a big thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment on the video! Your engagement means a lot to me, and I'm always happy to connect with awesome subscribers like you.
Also, thank you for the correction about the photo of Cate Blanchett. You're absolutely right, it's not from Saul Leiter, but rather Edward Lachman, the cinematographer, who drew inspiration from Leiter's style. The photo indeed belongs to a frame from the movie "Carol." Your keen eye and knowledge are much appreciated, and it's great to have subscribers like you who contribute to the discussions and help make the content even better!
If you have any more insights or suggestions, feel free to share them anytime. Thanks again for your support and for being part of our wonderful community.
Wishing you a fantastic day ahead!
I was surprised to see Blanchett. Thought at first how lucky she got being filmed by him in the style of the film)
Love his work.. i as an expressionist photographer.. am so inspired by him.. so much of my own work has been greatly influenced by his work
Thanks for sharing your experience in the world of photography!

Nostalgy.

Thanks for this beautiful documentarie. He was much more than a photographer, he was a visual artist. Very, very inspiring. Your documentaries are amazing, my only critic is the AI generated narative it takes much away from your artistic endevor, takes away from the warm touch you give to your docs.
Hello Jaques!
Thank you so much for your message and for appreciating the documentary about Saul Leiter! I'm really glad you found it inspiring. You're absolutely right, Saul Leiter was indeed an exceptional visual artist.
I understand your comments about the AI-generated narration, and I appreciate your honesty. I want you to know that I'm working on improving the quality of my videos, and your feedback is incredibly valuable. As I mentioned earlier, in the future, I plan to hire a professional narrator to bring a warmer and more human touch to my documentaries. 😊

Best regards, and see you soon! 👋😄
Saul Leiter's work is simply magnificent. It has a kind of magic that speaks to me like no-one else's color photography does.
Great video and great content, just one remark: the photo at 16:27 isn't one of his images, that's a screen cap of Cate Blanchett from the movie Carol.
Thank you for watching and commenting and thank you for the correction about the photo of Cate Blanchett. You're absolutely right, it's not from Saul Leiter, but rather Edward Lachman, the cinematographer, who drew inspiration from Leiter's style. Stay tuned for more content! have a nice day!
Saul Leiter is an example of a photographer who doesn't need words and texts to explain his photographs. Photos talk, not photographers.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
❤
Thanks Larissa! have a nice day!
Personaly, seeing his output now and forgetting the controversy over colour or not …
This guy was an impressionist artist who used a camera rather than a brush
Everyone now wants to say “street photography” but I’m pretty certain he just took a picture of what he saw … never mind the classification
We are lucky he did
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts with us!
Fantastic content. But, Joel, I'm sure you could record the text yourself better than this robot voice. Your content is so good that it deserves to feature you speaking your own words. Thanks for another great video.
hi John! Thank you so much for stopping by, commenting, and providing feedback on my CZcams video! I really appreciate your support and taking the time to engage with my content. Your feedback helps me to improve and create better videos for you and other viewers. Thank you again for being a subscriber and for your continued support!
Edward Steichen's name is pronounced like Stike-en
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video and leaving a comment! Your feedback and observations are greatly appreciated and help me improve my content.
I'm almost certain it's an AI generated voice. You can also hear it in the diction at 10:09: "black and white work" with a longer gap after "black" than it would normally sound like.
