I’m over rubbish fans that think they’re owed anything, you’ve got half the fan base (fake ass fans) complaining and crying because the team didn’t perform when things got tough, but these bullshit fraudulent fans can’t even keep supporting when things get hard. Whether you like it or not, the Bombers have competed very well most weeks, they made some more decisions and wasted too many opportunities against Carl, GC, Melb, Ade etc, should’ve won otherwise. Geelong game rolled by umpires. The early Port game and last weeks Saints game were the only two rubbish games. Sometimes in an even comp, you’ll lose close games. Dogs, Bris, Pies, Port have done it a few times this year, finding a way to fight back after a shit performance like the Saints and play competitive again and put yourselves in a position to win again this is what matters. I think we need to change a few positions around but get back to playing positive, proactive footy and bring the pressure back.

Honestly imagine how Zac Merritt genuinely feels, he tries to lead by example or carry this anchor of a team on his back and he looks around and the effort he would see would be like watching ur ice cream melt, so fucking soft. The real question is WHERE TO FROM HERE, WE "TOPPED UP" last year and it was obvious we needed a clean out so what now.....I'm totally done looking on the positive side,we could be unbeaten on top of the ladder next year after 15 rounds I'll expect a fade out every time. Merrett needs to take the team aside this week and give them an ultimatum. Either they collectively sign up to putting in 4 quarters of effort every week or he will request a trade. Next year will be lost too if they don’t finish the season playing 4 quarter games. The remainder of this season can either set us up for next season or establish a blueprint for failure once again.
I don't think Merrett can do any more, which is telling to the people surrounding him. He is flat lining to carry the team and is at risk of burning out or fracturing himself.
I was at the ground together with a lot of loyal bomber fans, I reckon we had more fans than the saints and it was their home game. Well done, bomber fans for turning up, we are an unbelievable supporter group. Being there live I couldn't believe the total lack of effort showed by our players. Because of our height and talent, we were able to get a fair bit of the ball, but time after time our players had nobody to kick to, there was just NO movement ahead of the ball, players were just standing around like a team of under 12's in the 4th quarter of a mini league match when they are all tired and thinking about going to McDonalds after the game. We had a tall team, but we just had zero movement and no smalls around packs when the ball was kicked into the forward line. Yes, our players weren't trying real hard, but who are our smalls? Apart from Menzie, we didn't have any, and for this, the coaching and selection panel must come into question. The only bloke who had injected some run and effort late in games is Nick Hind; why was he dropped? As you mentioned our ball use is horrible, but this is of our own making as well. Who shipped D'Ambrosio off to Hawthorn for next to nothing when we have been short of wingers and good ball users all year? Why isn't Archie Roberts getting a game? He is a great ball user, gets plenty of it and has looked a cut above in the VFL for weeks. Obviously our coaches don't value this? Why was Parish played when he had no match fitness? This goes totally against everything Brad Scott has been preaching all year. Parish was as good as a man short and would have been more use staying home changing dirty nappies. The Essendon Football club needs to come out and formally apologise to it's fans and especially its paying members. I pay more than $800 a season for my high mark membership, plus, living in country Victoria, its a 7 to 9 hour return trip to go to the footy, which I do most weekends. I am self employed and a day at the football represents about $600 in lost work time for me. Adding in petrol and parking, why should I pay the equivalent of $700-$800 every week to watch this bunch of highly paid pretenders go around? These guys get paid $5000, $10,000 and in the case of Ben McKay, $20,000 a week! All of them, including the coaches and except Zach Merrett should give their wages this week to charity. In Summary: absolute disgrace.

At the game you can see all the rest of what's going on. Who's gut running? Who's putting on shepherds and blocks? Who gives second and third efforts? Who's leading and demanding the ball? Who's positioning themselves well? Who's talking/directing traffic? Who WANTS the ball? Sad to say Bomber fans, but we were awful. Worse off camera than we are on it. There's no industry in the team, no accountability, no one wanting to take the responsibility on themselves. We looked like we didn't care. And there's plenty of reasons for that but the most glaring one at Essendon is that these players know they're not going to get dropped. It's time to clean them out. I don't care who they are replaced with but it has to be a team chosen on merit(no pun intended). For the love of God, wield the fucking axe...
How is it every man and his dog can see these bombing kicks into the forward 50 from a distance aren’t working, but the bombers keep doing it year after year. Maybe the is some confusion over what the team’s name “Bombers” is supposed to stand for😂
I mean bombing it in like we do doesn’t help. But the other issue is how EASILY our forwards get beaten. A bomb to a pack should still at least be a 50/50 chance of our forwards winning the contest you’d think. Yet they’re constantly beaten, whether it’s because our talls cant bring the ball to ground or because our smalls just get trounced. So yeah Bombing it in doesn’t help, but our forwards should still be able to make it a stalemate but instead get regularly beaten.
The problem is with Scott. Killing us every week at selection table. Drops Wright and Heppell deservedly lack week and without playing a minute of VFL (they had a bye) he recalls them. They have a negative impact and their direct opponents kick multiple goals. Roberts should've been tried. Hobbs, Hind or even Tsatas must have been named over Heppell, Wright, Parish. Too tall, too slow. Players will get blasted by AFL media by lacking effort, and they definitely did but it also appears lack of effort when you can't match your opponents speed. Why is Perkins a sub? He needs to be dropped he's hopelessly out of form. It's not like we're struggling for fit midfielders or half forwards. How Menzie is playing ahead of Hobbs or either Davey. Say what you will about ADJ but least he pressures the ball and when he played and we had 1 ruck we played our best football. Cox should be our second ruck we're just going to have to persist with it. Bryan should play and Draper needs a spell as well. Langford very lucky not to be in the twos.
At the game, was a hard watch, Merrett Durham X and Shiel were the only efforts in person. Coaching was a mess, small on talls, couldn’t kick it to Langfords lead no matter what, so constantly turned inside out where his opponent had the advantage. All in all, poor in poor
Since Hird resigned, everytime the opposition scores a point I think O oh, they are probably going to carry the ball down the other end and kick a goal.Because the Bombers forwards don't fill the holes, man up to create a contest or chase with the intention of actually trying to catch the ball carrier.The mids don't go back to help out, smother, tackle or get in the way.Instead, the call out, "kick it to me.I am on my own". The problem is not the players.The problem is what the players do not do when they don't have the ball.
I feel like this has been an essendon issue for a while, forwards are not awake for the kick in. In particular the last 2 weeks. We dominate first quarters until we miss a shot at goal and the whole game turns.
It’s all good, Brad’s got the answers. He’ll bring back the geriatric Goldstein and the unstoppable Kelly. While ignoring all of the kids good form in the VFL until they request a trade, and bring in under done injury prone players (Parish). He’s an absolute moron!
Dodo has drafted spuds for years, half the team is full of players that were outskirt players at their previous clubs. Wright went for a future 4th. There are a handful of decent players but this is what you get from a bunch of players that aren't up to playing a full season and wouldn't get a game at another club. Play the kids and stop playing proven spuds.
Essendon gets sucked in year after year with dud high draft picks from other clubs. Setterfield, Shiels, Caldwell, McKay, Hinds, Stringer, that other GWS guy who retired. It never works at any club. Dordoro creates his own publicity.

There are no words to adequately describe how bad that was: putrid, insipid, diabolical are a few that come to mind. We've had 4 or 5 coaches in tha last 10 years and no-thing has changed. Our D50 is terrible, our F50 efficiency is atrocious, we can't defend the ground, we can't play 4 qrt of footy and we def can't play 23 games of footy. Clearly this is psychological now bc when the pressure is off they can perform but when the pressure is high and expectations crumble they crumble. It's been that way for years. Mentally weak as u said. They looked like they had checked out and was all too hard. Angry is an understatement and Brad Scott will choose the same team next week
I agree with most of what you are saying, but having just watched Sydney go down heavily to the Dogs who also have a 1 from 5 recent win rate along with Essendon, and Carlton 2/5, I think we need to put this into perspective. Essendon’s game plan has been found out and teams have a clear blueprint on how to beat it. Just like Sydney. In such an even comp this year it doesn’t take much for that to lead to breakout quarters like Q3 on Saturday, at which point weaker teams like Essendon drop their bundle. The game plan has to adapt, and that’s with the coaching. The teams winning at the end of this season have all adapted, Geelong is a perfect case in point, as are Hawks, Dogs, Lions and even Westcoast.

Attended the game with my brother on my birthday - putrid experience! The best part was feeling some solidarity in the humiliation of the event with other bomber supporters. So sad to be exiting with thousands at the 3rd quarter.
It’s so disappointing, here we go again, if we continue to dish this up we will be go down by 100 pts or more against Sydney and Brisbane. No run, no marking, no interest except for about six players, continually kicked direct to opposition and when we kicked to our players it was over their head. Need to drop at least six players, backline very bad, forward line no good, Langford lost all confidence in front of goal, Hayes was signed for two years during the week, he needs to play for rest of season, bring in Roberts, Hobbs, Setterfield, Davey twins, it might at least broking some passion into the side. So disappointing, it bloody hurts… 3. Duursma; 2 Merrett; 1. Durham and Role player Shiel for two goals.
i dont know how langford got votes last week, he has not had a passable game all year and has survived off free kicks as he hardly wins his own ball and his accuracy is absolutely shocking. stringer is too fat and too slow, wright can be replaced by a traffic cone, and basically everyone just stands there instead of creating leads/shepperding/gut runs/pressure tackles. I cant beleive perkins keeps his spot with 1 disposal in one and half quarters after replacing riddley i have been asking for a while why we have the lowest number of debutants of any team in the league, i think bryan and tsatas would actually be better at other clubs as its just good for them. It actually brings joy seeing Massimo tearing it up at Hawthorn as he is having a crack and bringing improvement.

I came back to footy this year after decades away. Wasn't sure why everyone was so down when bombers were going well and there was no trust. I can see why now. I was obviously completely naive to think that bombers were a flag contender this year 😂
Playing for Essendon now means some marque games like ANZAC day and Dreamtime not finals and flags. The players are there for regular season games and don't care about post season games.

Said this last year and got argued with but I'll say it again anyway. It's time the supporters made a statement. Boycott the games for the rest of the season. Make it a talking point in the media. Essentially go on strike until we see some serious changes being made. This is a joke of a team and at the moment I would be happy if we signed a merger deal at the end of the year
Had a night or so to think it through mate. Honestly if anyone is surprised/shocked or dumbfounded by that performance I urge them to look at the last month or so of footy. We were soundly beaten last night and there is no denying that. Saints were hungrier and put together a team effort. We looked uninspired even uninterested in the contest and our effort/intent wasn't at the level required to win games. It's as simple as that. No good comes from finger pointing but the club has to be proactive not reactive which to me has been a flaw in out approach for far too long. We got served a good dose of humble pie, credit those Saint flogs, came with a game plan and executed it. All in all the season has been decent and we're all happy when we're winning, season isn't done yet wherever we finish up there's still work in front of us.

Merrett as always = 100% effort, Nic Martin & Duursma tried hard, Durham always gives effort along with Caldwell and those the 3 just mentioned are still learning. Struggling to find any others worth mentioning. Don't get me started on Peter Wright. Parish looked disinterested in this match and his inclusion was a waste of time. Saints had only personal pride of performance to play for .. what does that say for us when our season and national footy respect was on the line. 5 of the bottom 6 sides look more like a team than Essendon. I'm embarrassed for the entire club and ashamed of the standards they accept. FANS DESERVE BETTER
It has been more enjoyable watching North Melbourne play recently. At least they are putting in the hard slog for the entire game. Our team are just pathetic. I was laughed down when I said we were cooked after the loss to Geelong. We just really should never have been as high as we were. The boys have "sort of" improved for the year, but these last few games have been atrocious. Just no players giving a f%&k outside of Merrett. St Kilda just never got tackled. It was so annoying to watch. They got the ball. They found the next target. No pressure. If they played on they just stepped around us. Just to pull out one player. What has happened to Langford? He used to be strong in overhead marking and goal kicking and the later part of this year he just can't grab them or put them through. Essendon need to look at other successful programs and work out what they do well with fitness and strength and conditioning, the team had to play this pressure game to win games early in the season and we got burnt out from it cause we are not talented enough to play any other style. We also have only played 25-28 different players this year which seems very low. I would for the rest of the season play every player under 23 and just rotate older statesmens in And then reset for next year.
It’s an actual worse situation than the 2 seasons post drug saga. We have hard baked in these duds on long contracts it will take 3-4 years to fix and that’s if we actually start now with clearing deadwood. We have no real trade value and no real high picks. We actually have to consider tanking and playing kids to get experience in, that’s how fked this is. I doubt Brad Scott wants to do that, which is fair enough as he a competitor. Use the membership money for the cost of living crisis guys.

BS tells us at every presser that we've improved - love to know what his measures are!! We have not improved - dreadful team to watch, no system nor gameplay. Every goal is a grind. Can never put an opposition side to the sword - something is very wrong at the Hangar. The playing list needs an urgent review no doubt - but what about the coaching group. They have proved one thing - they are all talk and no walk! Another year of no progress.

We had more inside 50s because all we did is bomb the ball in without any real direction. And we have forwards that just can’t take pack marks.

Drops Wright and Heppell deservedly lack week and without playing a minute of VFL (they had a bye) he recalls them. They have a negative impact and their direct opponents kick multiple goals.
Roberts should've been tried. Hobbs, Hind or even Tsatas must have been named over Heppell, Wright, Parish.
Too tall, too slow. Players will get blasted by AFL media by lacking effort, and they definitely did but it also appears lack of effort when you can't match your opponents speed.
Why is Perkins a sub? He needs to be dropped he's hopelessly out of form. It's not like we're struggling for fit midfielders or half forwards.
How Menzie is playing ahead of Hobbs or either Davey. Say what you will about ADJ but least he pressures the ball and when he played and we had 1 ruck we played our best football.
Cox should be our second ruck we're just going to have to persist with it. Bryan should play and Draper needs a spell as well.

At the game, was a hard watch, Merrett Durham X and Shiel were the only efforts in person. Coaching was a mess, small on talls, couldn’t kick it to Langfords lead no matter what, so constantly turned inside out where his opponent had the advantage.

Since Hird resigned, everytime the opposition scores a point I think O oh, they are probably going to carry the ball down the other end and kick a goal.Because the Bombers forwards don't fill the holes, man up to create a contest or chase with the intention of actually trying to catch the ball carrier.The mids don't go back to help out, smother, tackle or get in the way.Instead, the call out, "kick it to me.I am on my own".

I feel like this has been an essendon issue for a while, forwards are not awake for the kick in. In particular the last 2 weeks. We dominate first quarters until we miss a shot at goal and the whole game turns.

Dodo has drafted spuds for years, half the team is full of players that were outskirt players at their previous clubs. Wright went for a future 4th. There are a handful of decent players but this is what you get from a bunch of players that aren't up to playing a full season and wouldn't get a game at another club. There are no words to adequately describe how bad that was: putrid, insipid, diabolical are a few that come to mind. We've had 4 or 5 coaches in tha last 10 years and no-thing has changed. Our D50 is terrible, our F50 efficiency is atrocious, we can't defend the ground, we can't play 4 qrt of footy and we def can't play 23 games of footy. Clearly this is psychological now bc when the pressure is off they can perform but when the pressure is high and expectations crumble they crumble. It's been that way for years. Mentally weak as u said. They looked like they had checked out and was all too hard. Angry is an understatement and Brad Scott will choose the same team next week

I agree with most of what you are saying, but having just watched Sydney go down heavily to the Dogs who also have a 1 from 5 recent win rate along with Essendon, and Carlton 2/5, I think we need to put this into perspective. Essendon’s game plan has been found out and teams have a clear blueprint on how to beat it. Just like Sydney. In such an even comp this year it doesn’t take much for that to lead to breakout quarters like Q3 on Saturday, at which point weaker teams like Essendon drop their bundle. The game plan has to adapt, and that’s with the coaching. The teams winning at the end of this season have all adapted, Geelong is a perfect case in point, as are Hawks, Dogs, Lions and even Westcoast.
The difference is those teams all put in effort, essendon dont do that

Attended the game with my brother on my birthday - putrid experience! The best part was feeling some solidarity in the humiliation of the event with other bomber supporters. So sad to be exiting with thousands at the 3rd quarter.

It’s so disappointing, here we go again, if we continue to dish this up we will be go down by 100 pts or more against Sydney and Brisbane. No run, no marking, no interest except for about six players, continually kicked direct to opposition and when we kicked to our players it was over their head. Need to drop at least six players, backline very bad, forward line no good, Langford lost all confidence in front of goal, Hayes was signed for two years during the week, he needs to play for rest of season, bring in Roberts, Hobbs, Setterfield, Davey twins, it might at least broking some passion into the side. i dont know how langford got votes last week, he has not had a passable game all year and has survived off free kicks as he hardly wins his own ball and his accuracy is absolutely shocking. stringer is too fat and too slow, wright can be replaced by a traffic cone, and basically everyone just stands there instead of creating leads/shepperding/gut runs/pressure tackles. I cant beleive perkins keeps his spot with 1 disposal in one and half quarters after replacing riddley
i have been asking for a while why we have the lowest number of debutants of any team in the league, i think bryan and tsatas would actually be better at other clubs as its just good for them. It actually brings joy seeing Massimo tearing it up at Hawthorn as he is having a crack and bringing improvement.

I came back to footy this year after decades away. Wasn't sure why everyone was so down when bombers were going well and there was no trust. I can see why now. I was obviously completely naive to think that bombers were a flag contender this year 😂

Playing for Essendon now means some marque games like ANZAC day and Dreamtime not finals and flags. The players are there for regular season games and don't care about post season games.

Had a night or so to think it through mate. Honestly if anyone is surprised/shocked or dumbfounded by that performance I urge them to look at the last month or so of footy. We were soundly beaten last night and there is no denying that. Saints were hungrier and put together a team effort. We looked uninspired even uninterested in the contest and our effort/intent wasn't at the level required to win games. It's as simple as that. No good comes from finger pointing but the club has to be proactive not reactive which to me has been a flaw in out approach for far too long. We got served a good dose of humble pie, credit those Saint flogs, came with a game plan and executed it. All in all the season has been decent and we're all happy when we're winning, season isn't done yet wherever we finish up there's still work in front of us.
Not sure if you were there, but at the ground, the lack of effort was really obvious, thats the biggest issue, St Kilda had a game plan, but they're not that good

You are correct, saints were always going to win this game, they have got their game plan and system working, but as a bomber fan, the lack of effort made it a certainty. Your boys were good, but dont count it as a big win, you played against a shit team
Merrett as always = 100% effort, Nic Martin & Duursma tried hard, Durham always gives effort along with Caldwell and those the 3 just mentioned are still learning. Struggling to find any others worth mentioning. Don't get me started on Peter Wright. Parish looked disinterested in this match and his inclusion was a waste of time. Saints had only personal pride of performance to play for .. what does that say for us when our season and national footy respect was on the line. 5 of the bottom 6 sides look more like a team than Essendon. I'm embarrassed for the entire club and ashamed of the standards they accept. FANS DESERVE BETTER

It has been more enjoyable watching North Melbourne play recently. At least they are putting in the hard slog for the entire game.
Our team are just pathetic. I was laughed down when I said we were cooked after the loss to Geelong. We just really should never have been as high as we were.
The boys have "sort of" improved for the year, but these last few games have been atrocious. Just no players giving a f%&k outside of Merrett. St Kilda just never got tackled. It was so annoying to watch. They got the ball. They found the next target. No pressure. If they played on they just stepped around us.
Just to pull out one player. What has happened to Langford? He used to be strong in overhead marking and goal kicking and the later part of this year he just can't grab them or put them through.

Essendon need to look at other successful programs and work out what they do well with fitness and strength and conditioning, the team had to play this pressure game to win games early in the season and we got burnt out from it cause we are not talented enough to play any other style. We also have only played 25-28 different players this year which seems very low. I would for the rest of the season play every player under 23 and just rotate older statesmens in And then reset for next year.

It’s an actual worse situation than the 2 seasons post drug saga. We have hard baked in these duds on long contracts it will take 3-4 years to fix and that’s if we actually start now with clearing deadwood. We have no real trade value and no real high picks. We actually have to consider tanking and playing kids to get experience in, that’s how fked this is. I doubt Brad Scott wants to do that, which is fair enough as he a competitor. Use the membership money for the cost of living crisis guys.

We have not improved - dreadful team to watch, no system nor gameplay. Every goal is a grind. Can never put an opposition side to the sword - something is very wrong at the Hangar. The playing list needs an urgent review no doubt - but what about the coaching group. They have proved one thing - they are all talk and no walk! Another year of no progress.
