GM's Powerglide circa 1958-1969 were also 2-speed automatics. Unfortunately, we have one in our Olds Rocket Powered S10. Keep the content coming, I know it's time consuming, but prefer to watch your videos after I finish editing mine.

2 speed automatics was not just a Ford thing GM had it and Chrysler did too. most cars from the 60s had them unless they were manual

As a Chevy man I still appreciate a good Ford . Actually I appreciate any old car, and am glad to see them brought back to life rather then seeing them crushed.there are only so many out there. That why its necessary to save as many as possible. Unfortunately I don’t have the room to do what you do. Keep the great videos coming.

I would like to suggest the name of Gertrude because it reminds me of my aunts car when i was a kid. She had a1962 Mercury Comet that was about the same color as the one you have. I remember in the 60's ford and mercury had some weird paint colors. I also remember in the mid to late 60's there was a number of the small cars like the Falcon , Comet , Chevy II, Chevelle, Rambler American, Tempest and Olds F-85 that ran a 2 speed automatic and was a big thing in dirt track stock cars that did not want to use a manual transmission on short tracks. My one Uncle who raced use to say drop it in low gear and let er eat, if the transmission took a crap, just go to the junkyard and grab another. He would use up two every year he raced and always had a spare trans with him at every race and I have seen him change a trans in 15 minutes at the track.

Tina short patina or tinny tiny Tina. On the door, I see a hippie soccer dude with a sweat ban. He is holding his arms up in Victory! When I was just a young boy, my dad had a white Falcon just about the same as yours. The motor was worn out and it was a manual 3-speed. He had trouble getting started on a hill with 5 passengers. I drove a 1966 Falcon two-door sports coupe to high school. I learned from my dad how to work on cars. Tune-ups, brakes, and U joints. Carburetors on kitchen tables, those were the days!

That is for sure had a 1970 Ford F250 Camper Special that I took the 2 barrel carb off its 390 V8 and rebuilt it right on the table on my porch whe I lived in Massachusetts. Now have returned back to Michigan and don't know what happened to that truck. Was burning oil badly and the state started tougher inspections. 😮

The torque converters torque multiplication is what makes a 2 speed trans practical. The last year for the fordamatic two speed was 1964. Then they brought out the c4 3 speed automatic. I like the simplicity of the fordamatic. They are light weight, reliable, and easy to pull and rebuild too.

To me when it first started turning over. It seemed compression was extremely low. I believe it started picking up as it got turning over more. Thanthe break you give it was just what it needed after a little heat. Those rings popped lose than compression came up enough to bust off. It wasn't free spinning after that. Or it didnt sound to me like it was. Starter had to work more to make it spin. With some nice wheels I can see this car being fun

My first car was a '61 Falcon two door and your video brought back memories of it,in case you haven't found out by now the gas tank bolts down through the tank floor and the engine uses solid lifters that probably needs adjusted, mine had the rocker pedestal clogged up and it was worn enough that it was noisy even if you adjusted the rockers,we ended up taking the assembly off and unclogging it then Dad made a bushing to quiet down the noise, mine was a 144 with the air cooled two speed Fordomatic transmission as well.

In Argentina this car is a legend, it was manufactured almost 40 years, but here the coupé version was never built. There were several versions even sporty called SPRINT with a 6-cylinder engine, and bright colors in the 70s

I’ve always had a falcon in my from 1975 to today. If you look at old specs and adds you will find out that the the automatic models had a top speed of 80 mph, the standard model 84 mph. When they were made the highway speed limit was 55 mph. Back in the day Kmarts had auto repair just like Walmart does today. I currently have a 1961 Falcon Ranchero that I’ve had since I was a freshman man in high school 48 years ago.
