The Stig's 7 times World Championship winning cousin
Yes, very significant episode. The reason the Stig has his face covered, is you can use almost any person. So, TopGear got onto Ferrari and asked to get an FXX to test, and Ferrari stalled and waffled for a long time, and finally said they were all sold, the Beeb would have to talk to owners. So they got onto Schummi, who was quite happy to do it, as long as he got to be the Stig on that show... So that is Schummi driving his own car, and being the Stig. Is it any wonder he blew the track record out of the water?
@Victor Nag Yes, that's right. And then Ultima went to the track with their own driver, and blew the Zonda away too, so then the Beeb took them to court, because it's their track. So after 18 months of legal wrangle, TopGear say that was cheating and CZcams says an Ultima with a mildly tuned LS in it, is way quicker than even a Ferrari FXX driven by Michael Schumacher. TopGear claim that's not a road car, but then Schummi driving his personal FXX is not really a road-car either...
Skipping back to the present, I would think if you went and borrowed a Radical SR5 or whatever the top Radical of the moment is, with lots of downforce, that'd be faster again... It comes back to the question of who and what you allow into that competition / comparison. The time Jeremy Clarkson got in a Morris Minor on under-inflated 30 year old crossplies, is relevant when compared to James May's time in an Austin-1800, set the same day, but that's got nothing to do with what Lewis Hamilton can do today in his F1 car, with the whole Mercedes F1 crew there to play along with the joke. Is an FXX a road car? No, actually, it's not ... Ok, what about a Hennesey Venom with an upgraded LS and 60psi of boost? (Making about 1700 or 1800hp.) That's a modified car, not a stock car. Ok, so what is a Ferrari FXX again? And why did the Beeb battle so hard to stop Ultima claiming any time set on that track without a BBC supplied driver?
@@Kneedragon1962 who's the Beeb here?
@@Pirustae ~ It was 4 years ago ... ummm. I would say the BBC, the people who owned and produced and wrote and broadcast TopGear.
@@Pirustae the BBC ?
Some say that Ferrari wouldn't let the real Stig drive the FXX for the power lap, and that Michael Schumacher took his place, all we know is that the FXX isn't a road car and its time didn't stay on the board.
because they didnt even spell it right
Technically some of the cars that finished the racing championship are now being registered as road legal cars so maybe it should go back on the board.
+Audiman It would need to do the lap again.
+Cloxxki I doubt there's much chance of that happening now
Audiman Does the new Top Gear rent the same track again? A customer car can always be used.
It sounds absolutely incredible. Tears in my eyes.
The noise coming from that Ferrari is just superb.....simply amazing.
What a cool car; makes an amazing noise!
The good old days!
isn't it called FXX?
After loosing the three presenters they have to work on a budget now so they couldn't afford another X there sadly.
+MJTbreww The lamest thing I've read... you're not funny one bit sorry dude
+DopeItsKris I think 63 thumbs ups (including mine) say otherwise.
Yeah, we will just have to disagree with the other 72 people and agree with you.
MJTbreww you do know this channel is just made by a fan? I know you made a joke but still...
If you have watched a lot of cars on this track ...you can just see the fx was just just shaving a second off each camera section of this track. ...and that section with the tires, good lord he was just screaming past that section.
1:07
Anybody notice a red car here?
Now I do
There have been planes active in the back of shot
This is a Ferrari FXX, not a Ferrari FX as the title clams! the title needs to be changed!
Redline staring: Nathan Phillips & Nadia bjorlin
Some say that only The Stig can beat The Stig.
I like that shirt. It matches my phone.
Carlo’s Ferrari Enzo & Natasha’s Koenigsegg Ccx
Will we ever know what a P1 does around there? Or a One:1?
+Cloxxki they should make a replica of the track for their new show. I doubt BBC has the rights to their track design. Mclaren might though
Some say his skeleton was coated with carbon fibre and that he has never seen an anime because it looks like some form of colourful morse code to him. All we know is, this cars time didn't stick.
WHATTTTTTTTTTTT
they removed it from the board. because it was on not-street-legal tires.
They removed it from the board because it is not a road legal car. That was always the rule of the board, it has to be road legal, and it has to be able to go over a "sleeping policeman".
lol, some say, the stig doesnt even know how to spell fxx... all we know is, he is called the stig!
looks like a zonda
schumacher :(
✋❤️
I would hope that the FXX would be number one I mean come on if you own one it's not in your garage it stays at Ferrari
isn't it the FXX
Uploading always the same videos and yet uploading the videos with Jeremy.
It's FXX, not FX
RIP Stiggy Schumacher
@@masterhybrid16 He's in the worse shape than dead now.
In 2025 all road cars will be this fast, even today you can buys a cayman with a PDK which is faster than the trans in the FX
Fast cars after not about shifting quickly but about what happens when you are in a gear. And for laptimes, weight and grip are hugely important. Downforce is becoming a factor also.
*FXX
isn't it ffx?
It's actually an FXX
sorry The Stig negive is to the BBC not for you
Ferrari "FX"?
I wonder how fast the Ferrari TheFerrarri would be. It has to be pretty close, as this Ferrari FXX was made as a research and development tool for future cars.
Ferrari FX is the Testarossa by the way.
+Lars Agerbæk I do think so, but road legal tires make a real difference. As does ride height.
Cloxxki true, I saw this car, at an open air car show/race in Copenhagen. The organizers had to weld the sewer covers before demonstrating the car, because they feared it would suck them up.
Ride height is also what made the McLaren P1 beat the Ferrari TheFerrari and the Porsche 918.
Lars Agerbæk The 918 was beat, on selected courses, largely due to limited ICE power and high mass. On start-stop courses where no high (cornering) speeds are reached, 918 can and does win on traction. Or as on the Nurburgring, on larger batteries that just don't run out as easily.
Hard to get good intel, but LF may just be a couple hundred kilos heavier than claimed.
I'd love to see a sewer covered be lifted by a passing car. From a safe distance.
Cloxxki 918 runs on ice?
+Cloxxki Check out Mythbusters. I believe that they did an Indy car special where they tried to lift a manhole cover.
but it doesn't count because it's not a street legal car. You can buy the FXX from Ferrari but they don't let you keep the car in you possession. You can only drive it at the Ferrari designated track, so.........this lap time doesn't really count, sorry fans
You can't even buy it. Ferrari gave it to some selected customers
Everything about this show is now gone.
I don't get it whats the point of buying cars that aren't road legal
