I found the size large ALICE I was issued was too large, too much unused space. I purchased my own size medium pack along with a 2qt canteen and two extra magazine pouches to attach to it. Ammo and water are your two most important things. I still have all the gear I purchased. I did up grade the pack by swapping out the steel strap clips with fastex ones and swapping out the hip belt for a MOLLE unit.

Getting flashes of going thru boot in 98. Enjoyed it. Their still issuing this.
