I do get why people didn't get romantic vibes from Mikasa and Eren, since its not really explored much at all until these last few episodes, and also because they were raised together some people only see them as siblings and get weirded out by the possibility of romance. But ive seen that presumption block or color what are very obvious hints and scenes throughout the entire series that show Mikasa likes Eren. But it always seems one sided, Eren doesn't show a hint of liking her back in that way until the season 2 finale, where Mikasa almost kisses him before theyre going to die. But before that even in season 2 whenever someone presumes theyre lovers or call Eren her boyfriend, she brushes and gets flustered, which for kther characters might not mean much, but for Mikasa who is extremely stoic, its very telling.
So yeah its been interesting to see many reactions to the finale where peolle didnt see the romantic angle coming at all, they simply had blinders to it, and its probably harder to spot and retain in memory if you only watch the episodes once ever. Since i watch so many reactions, i know a lot of my favorite shows in and out. That's not the case for a lot of reactors so yeah some people have been whiplashed with the romance angle of Mikasa and Eren. But it is there, just a bit easy to miss, specially because its mostly one sided for most of the series.
