- I am producing this video series with my co-instructor, Myla Sunshine, who is a beautiful girl who has low tone and Down syndrome. She lives 250 miles from my house. Her parents were nice enough to allow me, a perfect stranger, to come in and share their daughter with the world. Thank you, again. My name is Amy Sturkey. I am a pediatric physical therapist from the United States. I hope to follow Myla as she develops. I hope to teach ideas to help her learn to move, crawl, sit and walk. I started this video series after questions came in from all over the world from people seeking assistance in helping children with low tone. The ideas I teach in this video are not appropriate for a much weaker child than the one featured in this video. I hope you find this idea useful and simple.
My website is www.pediatricPTexercises.com My Facebook page is Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises. My informational books, "A is for Autism," "C is for Cerebral Palsy," "D is for Down Syndrome," "Pediatric Physical Therapy Strengthening Exercises for the Hips" and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Strengthening Exercises for the Knees" are available on Amazon. "A is for ADHD" should be available shortly. Do not hesitate to contact me at amysturkey@gmail.com with questions, concerns or favorable reviews! Please note I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated.

Thank you!
Thank you so much your video help to my baby one and half year old, she is having right side hemiparesis due to brain stroke. Please share video for hand straightening exercises including fingers.
I am so glad that you are finding my videos helpful. The exercises you need For your child are very specific. I do not have an appropriate child to film those kind of activities unfortunately. I recommend finding a local physical therapist who specializes in children who can help you. I wish the very best.
My baby started having this after an injection last week on his butt now I don't know if he is still in pains or if it is an issue from the nerve. He is unable to balance properly on his right leg, help
If you are unsure, I recommend you contact your doctor. I cannot Make recommendations from this distance.
Thank you for the video! I was wondering if you had any exercises or tips for helping low muscle tone/stronger weight bearing for legs? I have a daughter with spina bifida that has great strength in her upper body and hips but her lower leg muscles can't seem to bear weight fully. We have orthopedic shoes for her to practice standing so she can get into position but can't extend the legs herself fully in order to stand. Many thanks :-)
The issues for a child with spina bifida are likely beyond the scope of the videos I have done. I would love to do videos with a child with spina bifida but don't have access to one outside of my work. I recommend you find a local pediatric physical therapist to help you.
