I PLAYED with a £1 Wooden Driver...

So I’ve been to the local charity shop and found this BEAUTY of a golf club… A £1 Wooden driver from the 1950s, and I decided to use it for 3 holes at the beautiful Feldon Valley Golf Club to see how I get on… I don’t know how people used these clubs back in the day! 🤣🤯

I started playing in the early 60's and turned pro in the late 60's. Everyone played with wooden headed woods and bladed irons. The British ball was 1.62 and it was only later that the American ball was adopted. I would love to see todays pros playing a four round tournament with the equipment we used.

Here is a new challenge for you with guests:
9 hole challenge
You are allowed to have 9 clubs in your bag.
You rotate your golf clubs, so if you start by using the 5 iron.. the 5 iron will go all the way back into queue, so you have to use the rest of the 9 clubs before you are allowed to use the 5 iron again.
So lets say for example, you are on a Par 6 hole.. You start by using the Driver, and you end up finishing the hole with 7 clubs and you have lets say a 56* and a 6 Iron. On the next hole, lets say its a Par 5.. You must use the 6 iron or 56* before the rest of the clubs come available in your club rotation

I learnt to play with wooden woods and bladed irons and a blade putter. Back in the 1970s
that driver looks more like from the 1970s BTW 50s woods didn't have face inserts like thats got. Well had rubber band balls with balata covers and a blue inky filled rubber ball centre core.
I've literally just started playing again 6 months ago after not hitting ball since the 1980s.
I've bought a cheap secondhand set of Callaway X12 irons. A Taylor Made Jet-speed 3HL RBZ 5wood and a Mizuno MP630 fast track driver. Bag tees balls gloves putters (several) which owes me about £150. I managed to break 100 on my 5th round and want to be breaking 90 before the years out.
