“What experience and history teach is that nations and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted upon any lessons they might have drawn from it.”
    George Hegel
This record was created in 2002 detailing the history of events about and within 21 years before it. And yet here we are, 21 years after the recounting, playing the same game, by the same rules, seeking different outcomes. It saddens to imagine that 21 years to come, those of us who will survive the days will likely live to experience the same hardships, intrigues, and political hogwash - imagine 63 years of rocking chairs politics of always being on the move and getting nowhere...sad is an understatement.

PRESIDENT DANIEL TOROITICH ARAP MOI is arguably the BEST PRESIDENT KENYA has ever had ; Ignoring the toddlers who have made it their pastime to besmirch, harangue and despise MOI simply because he never hailed from their Tribes, simply because their parents and older relatives brainwashed them !! Tribal lenses aside !!

I completely disagree, politically yes he was the best,, but Mwai Kibaki will remain by far the best. He restored respect to the people of Kenya, reforms police forces, improve infrastructure which was long neglected by his predecessor Moi, and Kibaki obeyed the law where when his ministers no matter how close or personal relation he had with the minister you will take political responsibility. Remember Kimunya, Murungaru and Mwireria? But overall Uhuru will go down the history as the worst arrogant and egocentric President this Country will ever hard.

Moi was a tyrant ... he developed schools in his homeground Rift Valley plus he evoked the one party regime that like Ghana or Zimbabwe didn't not work yes but didn't care for the rest rest of Kenya so I strongly disagree with this comment.. If he was the best like you claim he would have step down like Mandela did

Watching this and you realize how most of these big men who walked the corridors of power are no more and now long gone just humbles you as a human. They enjoyed huge perks, thumped their chests, drove in big German machines, lived in big houses, owned many businesses and properties yet still fragile and not immortal.
I wish kenya would have true leaders who go to parliament to truly serve the people not engaging in corruption and looting the country.

    Things I terribly miss:
    1. The mature politicians of yester years - can't compare to the rubbish we have today (kieleweke/tanga tanga).
    2. Looking West (as opposed to East). For the young people who don't know, getting a loan as a country in the '90s came with conditions that were helpful for the borrowing country. In the case of the West and their institutions like IMF and World Bank, corruption needed to be weeded out before you were advanced the money, as was briefly revealed in the video.
    3. That old Mwai Kibaki - man was a great orator. The 2002 accident really messed him up.
    4. 2003. After Kanu's fall, Kenya was the most optimistic nation in the world. Many missed opportunities along the way. We could be way ahead as a country today.
    Great documentary.

I think you do not know world history well if you think Europeans are not looters. British Empire looted half the world and took the treasures back to London. For example Kohi noor they took from India. They looted the colonies and left the colonies in a more destitute state than when they arrived. In Kenya's case, why did the mau mau rebellion happen? Because the British and European people grabbed land from the people of Kenya and left them with nothing, no jobs no land nothing to support themselves. They were very racist and looked to oppress others who they thought were not as evolved as them.
