For those wondering she killed another Navy officer - an enlisted man beneath her in the chain of command - who she was having an affair with when he tried to end it to save his marriage. It was partially based on a true story of a military woman and the fallout of her affair minus the murder part.
Always love McCoy calmly asking: "Did you rip him a new one?"
I work in the wildfire area-I’ve run across women like Blair more times than I want to remember.
They claim the departments are against them and will whine to the other girls when they get called out.
It is embarrassing and so unbecoming to the real women who go to work and fight forest fires and love the job!
I heard that the wildfires in Canada were actually started due to a training program gone wrong. They were training a bunch of broads to be fire fighters because diversity...and something went horribly wrong and it got so out of control that's what causes the recent fires in Canada, and they've done everything they can go suppress it because it's embarrassing and it tells us what we all already know...women shouldn't be firefighters.
It should never be racist or sexist to keep someone who is unfit from serving. Unfit means they are incapable of doing their duties and responsibilities. Given the opportunity? yes but if they fail, they fail and are gone.
True, and I would agree with you mostly, except there must be also a level playing field, otherwise people with historical advantage not only get to make the rules but get more advantage.
Of course don't certify unfit pilots, and ensure women are not disadvantaged across any field. When there is actual, consistent equal treatment and opportunity, you see different results.
@@oventi_ I would agree with you except when we are talking about jobs where people could die because of a mistake or inexperience.
The margin of error is so small sometimes, a person’s record could make a huge difference. She couldn’t handle a high stress training session, what about next time she’s on an aircraft and on a mission where seconds count?
There is a level playing field. White privlege doesn't exist.
When there is one standard and one standard only that doesn't lower to make people feel comfortable...pilots are basically all men in that case.
if you have a guy and 2 woman and the guy scored a high 95 pass grade and the Woman scored as well a 95 pass grade and the other one got a 76 barely pass grade and you need to hire two people, you pick the top 2 not skip the guy and get the two woman simply to fill a political agenda quota and vice versa.
What a poorly veiled attempt to hide your racism and sexism. The fact that you felt the need to share a common sense point is far more telling about who you are as a human being.
Not even the navy escapes from a trial
Wow, how desperate must they have been to pass her despite her 250% failure. Remember just 2 downs was enough to disqualify. She got 5 downs.
They went woke, so it doesn't matter.
DACOWITS. There are quotas for female participation because the military is a jobs program.
@@noblelies At least she got some training. How much government training/experience did Trump have?
@@JLee-rt6ve "government training" yeah you clearly have a very tenuous grasp of the way the world works
@@wristocrat You have an imaginary grip on reality and facts. Did you fail third grade English? Trump had no experience, zero, zip, on how to govern and how American government works. His own staff had to watch him constantly because of his vast ignorance.
Jack McCoy: The BEST DA Prosecutor we all need ever more so!
Now he's lead attorney district NYC
He’s a sleazebag, cheating his way to win
Kate Walsh! Not used to seeing her as a blonde.
ive seen so many actors on this show when they are young.... this show must be the gateway for the actors, for their acting career. is that so?
The air force trainer was the young ER doctor in the beginning of the season 2 episode where a baby freezes to death because the landlord shut off the heat to convince residents to move out of the apartment complex.
I was watching this through my peripheral and was SO sure that was Matthew Perry for a minute to the point where I had to rewind it
From the First Lady of Argentina to a defense lawyer!
Why was she surprised the tape was entered? Her lawyer obviously knew about it.
Probably because the lawyer told her they wouldnt use it.
I don't think she or her lawyer knew what the contents of the tape was. The lawyer would know there was a tape but until she heard Jack's line of questioning, she most likely didn't realize how Jack intended to present the tape.
@@MrSilnev That doesn't make any sense. If it's been entered as evidence then the defense has to have had a chance to review it. That's problem when her original objection came up. It would be malpractice to know that the prosecution has new evidence and not look into it, especially if it has to potential to color how your defendant is perceived by the jury.
Because it's more dramatic to have them surprised, McCoy give such comments, and them not having prepared responses. Because... this is a TV show and not real life.
@@MrSilnev Yeah that would be a *Massive* Brady violation.
McCoy is always point on
Ross's attitude is exactly why unqualified women continued to hold positions of power when they are challenged. She instantly jumped to defense of the pilot, someone she was prosecuting for murder, even though she was told the pilot was given 4 (she "succeed" on her 6th try) extra additional kicks at the can in a career where failure means death.
this whole narrative, your comment included, is a falsehood concocted by misogynists to justify their own shortcomings. women don't get free passes or unqualified promotions, if anything qualified women have to reach a level of extraordinary to even register on the patriarchy's radar. or do you believe we've never had a female president because there just haven't been any qualified women in the entire 250-year history of this country?
No Ross’ attitude is why qualified women get to positions that they have earned. Your attitude is why unqualified women hold positions they haven’t earned. Because discriminatory institutions have a tendency to hire women who are unqualified, but will do as they’re told and stay in low-key positions. Misogynistic groups do this in order to satisfy the optics so that when they discriminate against qualified women, they can’t press charges against there would be employer because all they have to do is hold up the list of women they’ve hired and say, see how could we be discriminating. If powerful groups do not want an integrated staff they will find a way to get around the law. The defendant in this case is a perfect example. Military may have passed her, but they had no intention of using her I assure you.
"Did you rip him a new one?"
This was one of my favorite episodes. I would have called it “Checkmate.”
Patti LuPone! Yea!
I remember this episode vividly.
1. She set herself up real good
2. The Navy only protected her because their name was being dragged, once they could(and did) throw her to the wolves, they did.
Yeah, I really liked this ep. Though I think that one of the reasons they abandoned her was because they knew she wasn't qualified and yet still put her through because they needed more women pilots. They were trying to keep that from getting out. Once that got out they went to cover their butts. One thing that was messed up is that she plead guilty to the max but then was still calling the charge unjust.
God bless you.
The defense knew this was coming, idk why she set herself up for that.
@@FeedingFrenzy91 If you create an inhospitable environment, you're not going to have good applicants. So it was on them both ways, in the systemic issues and culture and then ignoring established standards to promote her rather than addressing the issues that discouraged potentially stronger applicants.
@@TheSongwritingCat I more think when you open up you don't boost people in a field that requires so much skill just because they were disadvantaged beforehand. These are the kind of results you get.
God bless you.
@@FeedingFrenzy91 exactly! I work in wildfire and experience is sought after more than a degree. I’ve failed a few times not passing our pack test and I just kept training until I could pass. But I was on a tight rope. It pushed me to do better!

Did they put the entire series on Peacock again? The last time I checked it started at Season 13 .

How do you watch this on Peacock? My Peacock starts at season 13. Do I need the Premium Plus or $10 plan?
Nope might as well buy the DVD box set or have someone download all the good seasons for you to binge watch

Kate Walsh, blessed with looks, but such an interesting actor.
What is the episode with the woman Canadian killer who was so sweet at first?
True North
I love Original Law & order, it was more real more dramatic but also REAL. new law & order doesnt feel that real more like novelas with affairs and personal problems. i dont know. For me, it will always be McCoy, abbie Carmichael and Lenny briscoe.
Ironically, the best episode, Aftershock, was focused on personal lives and not a single case. Nothing wrong with those types of episodes once in a while.
@@fromthehaven94 You can delve into personal lives without becoming soapy, though.
@@MuzzyBarker I have largely stopped watching the entire franchise, ever since the decision to introduce Organized Crime with the death of Kathy Stabler. Either way, I didn't mind many of the personal life plots. And McCoy talking about his upbringing, Briscoe's strained relationship with one of his daughters, and Curtis actively breaking his marriage vows wasn't "soapy". I did watch Melrose Place in the 90s.
@@fromthehaven94 I don't think Law and Order was ever soapy. I do think it's spin-offs have become soapy. It isn't the personal lives that are the problem. It's the way they're presented.
@@fromthehaven94 I HATED Aftershock. Brilliantly written and acted, but so painful to watch. Likewise, the first three seasons have a lot of casual police brutality from our heroes in them, which is also hard to watch, but those old L & O actor teams so make it worth looking past that if you can. And I've been done with anything Stabler in it for years. I always found him a bit creepy and he just kept getting worse. A criminal told him once "if you weren't a cop, you'd be out there doing the same as me", and to me it looked like Stabler (silently agreed). I wish they would bring back crazy Bobby and Criminal Minds, but maybe give him a little Zoloft this time.
BURN!!!!
I thought you weren't allowed to speak directly to the jury when you're on the witness stand?

@@AndrewBarsky I still want to know what a singal officer is.
She couldn’t pass quals. A carrier landing 🛬 is no joke. Every trap is judged, and if you can’t do it you’re a danger to the ship, flight deck crew, and the multi million dollar aircraft in addition to yourself.

@@bowlofnuggets Probably for the reason of the woman giving advice to Ashley Judd when she's in prison in the movie Double Jeopardy.

@@bowlofnuggetsgotta defend bad people.
I agree completely with the Landing Signals Officer. The point of the training is to train the pilots to be able to fly the fighter, regardless of the type. If the trainee can't operate the plane - take-off, fly, and land - then they're a liability at best, a risk at worst, and need to be reassigned to a different duty. If they don't like it, they can request a reassignment. Can they request a discharge from the service? I don't know about that, but if they won't accept a different assignment...
I can appreciate wanting to make certain everyone gets equal opportunity and all that. However, if I'm the president of a company, I don't care if the person is gender-fluid, has multi-colored skin, and is part of a religion where instead of a Buddha statuette, they worship a head of lettuce. If the person is trained and qualified to do the job right the first time around without having me to hover over the person's shoulder to make certain the job gets done right, that's what most important. It's the same thing with the Landing Signals Officer. He followed the rules and regulations in judging her, and she made two major mistakes. She proved she wasn't capable of landing on a carrier at night. He would have been in the right to scrub her from the training, regardless of political pressure.
I also liked how he made his position clear on things and basically got Ross of his back. He had nothing against women being pilots. He was against unqualified people, regardless of race, religion, or gender, being pilots.
For some reason her demeanor reminds me of Amber Heard.
Also, Patti Lupone was on this show a lot! 😆

That’s irrelevant to the case and also the defense weren’t notified about the tape, cheating your way to a conviction I see
The defense had to renew the objection to the evidence, that means at least the lawyer knew what was on it. Also not irrelevant, the accused made a statement on stand that was suppose to assure the court of her trustworthiness, the evidence was a direct refutation of her statement. Showing she is untrustworthy and should be treated as such. That is very relevant to the case.
The prosecution is allowed to rebut any evidence the defense offers.
She's wrong of many things, but the F-14 plane thing is right. Those sorry excuses for vehicles should been scrapped after Vietnam. They were NEVER meant to be use as trainees nor advance fighter jets. The only use they have these days are eating sun rays and getting rid of bad completion.
