Hey y'all--Mirror Matt here. I thought it might be fun to play a silly little game on the channel today. I guess by now I should have known that any light-hearted game we play on this channel is actually just an excuse for Matt to have a mini breakdown. But alas, I wasn't thinking ahead. So here we are. i loved snakey bus...imho, it actually gets back to the true heart of gt live...not playing games for the viewers, not jumpscares, not even exploring lore...no, we got to see INTERACTION between matt and mirror matt...we got a sneak peak into their lives. i'd get on that bus any day!
That’s honestly my favorite thing about GTLive, and I feel like it’s been lost in a lot of the recent streams (mostly since Steph left, actually, now that I realize that).

As a person that really doesnt like horror games, I LOVED this! Pretty chill, I get my matpat time, without the scary stuff (though I know people love those and I support that too haha)

As a former RA, exactly exactly exactly. It's such a fine line between creating community, keeping people safe and enforcing University's expectations. Mine was a little wonky all around though. I was hired halfway through the year and was already a non traditional student at 24 years old. I was an RA from interterm-Spring Break and then our COVID lockdown hit, and it became virtual check ins with girls I hadn't gotten the chance to form a relationship with. The second year went a little better, in that it was a full year and we got to do things like have a Harry Potter Marathon and an April Fool's Rubber Duck Hunt. I did a lot of individual notes and gifts for my residents, I even made their door decorations out of baskets so I could drop off gifts throughout the year, and I started a Craft and Chat club for all students but it was still difficult because we were A. a Christian school and B. still in Covid so I was very unpopular with some of the freshmen who did not want to follow our visiting hours rules...
As someone who is in the final year of being at a Catholic university, I feel this. I have a friend who's an RA and hates his freshman group and so many people complain about the freshmen on our campus. I can see why my PA from freshman year graduated and distanced herself from everyone completely lol. I didn't dorm since the campus is so close to home but i still heard the horror stories.

I found this to be the greatest right now. As a freshman in college myself seeing these opinions from people who have gone through it all makes me feel less anxious for the future and what to do with my life. That is what I love from these GTLives. The connection and talks we get be it funny past stories or advice they may have for the audience.
Thank you Matpat & Mirror Mat for revealing a flaw (one of many) in the college/American school system because that's kind of how they want to do stuff. Rather than teach kids in a way that teaches them life skills (that they'll actually use) in a fun & safe way, it's just let's teach kids to memorize stuff (that they'll likely never use) for a standardized test (s) It's all go to ur classes & don't do this or that when in reality teaching them to understand how to do things in the long run safely is actually better than just saying no don't ever do that knowing full well they're going to do it & because they don't know better they end up putting themselves in dangerous or stupid situations

I had a therapist who would get so mad when adults would just tell kids not to do things without explain why or helping them get out of bad situations. During one of our sessions I was ranting about underage drinking (I don’t remember specifically what it was about lmao) and she talked to me about how frustrating it is when parents just tell their kids to not drink alcohol without explaining why and if their kid does experiment with it they don’t help them with the aftermath of it or anything like that
I absolutely LOVE the videos where Matpat plays a game and “the matts” have a deep discussion. Idk why, but these are my favorite GTLive videos.
Any game that causes Mat and Mirror Mat to go into podcast mode is a 10/10 game for me

Believe it or not, this is exactly the episode I needed today.
Okay, I love Mirror Matt's choice in odd games. I loved college. Granted I went to a community college but I was also juggling two internships at the same time. I remember I would eat a Jack in the Box breakfast burrito in my car every morning and watch CZcams before class. Yet the only way I was able to afford that was because I had managed to secure an almost full-ride scholarship. I wouldn't have been able to afford any degree otherwise. I had a couple of friends from high school who I hung out with. I didn't have time to go to my graduation though. Unfortunately, I feel like my degree ended up being pretty useless though.
If matpat ever get a new channel better be Life theory with his college talk

Genuinely one of my favorite episodes- I love how chill and relaxed it is, and the conversations you guys have are absolutely the highlight of these videos.
This episode was so refreshing and enjoyable, it reminded me a lot of older GTlive and I would love to see mirror Matt join you on the couch (or not if he isn’t comfortable doing that). And I really needed an RA like you my freshman year that would’ve made a world of difference for me lol. Awesome video.

Well, it really does devolve into chaos. But you know, it was kind of fun listening to the chill conversation. Probably not what the game designers meant to happen, but work with what you've got.

so a lot of times when GTLive is playing I'll be doing other things but this one (and old ones like this) make me stop and watch. it feels like I'm part of a conversation while I'm not actually being put into a position where I have to talk. It recharges my mental batteries in a way I can't express and it feels so nice.

This reminds me of that thing where a school (I don't think it was a school but whatever it doesn't matter) introduced a fine for dropping your kids off late, and lateness *immediately* went up.
The reason was that parents were far more incentivised to not be late if they had to deal with the guilt and awkward conversation with a teacher about why they were late. When the fine was introduced they started thinking "oh well, I've payed for it that's fine then." They felt as though the fine absolved them of any guilt that would have come with lateness in its absence.
Absolutely love the sheer chaos going on in the game while M.Matt and MatPat are having chats about RA's.

I've always loved GTLive for the podcast aspect so this is an absolute favorite.
I genuinely enjoyed this episode a lot more than other recent episodes because it gave both of you a great chance to talk. This sort of interaction is exactly what I enjoy listening to when I watch your videos.

No, but Mirror Matt has a point with the college not being built for students who come from lower income households/are not as well off as others financially. I'm in my fourth year of college currently and I work part time. I was also enrolled in the Honors Program for 2 school yrs. I literally had to drop out of honors because I was drowning between work (thanks to being understaffed due to the pandemic), normal school work, and a huge honors project. And what sucked the most was that the scholarships I did get/could get from the program would have helped me out tremendously (seeing as I'm the one putting myself through college with no help from my family just due to it being costly), but it just wasn't meant for someone who was working to put themselves through college. It was meant for students who were well off.

I know Matpat was worried this video wouldn't be liked but I honestly loved it. The back and forth and overall discussion with the game in the background felt more like hanging out with two friends more than watching a video.

I honestly agree with what Mirror Mat said. College is just kind of worthless in today's society, all it does is give us debt to look forward to paying off. After I graduated from high school back in may, I moved from Florida to Indiana to live in a friend's house and get a job. I'm currently saving up to buy my first car and rent my own place and from what I can see, I'm better off right now than some of my friends that are currently in college. Also, I love the Snakeybus video and I hope to see more xD
