- So defending Wake Island has proven to be a task regardless of what I do. In this game I'll try and pull the win using the A6M2 Zero.

I love the idea of losing the airfield and losing air support.....it would be really cool if their aircraft carrier had hp and that with enough bombing runs you could eliminate the allies airpower too

Isn't it related to low graphics settings? Maybe with lower graphics settings and less ground details you could spot them easier?
I have them on all low and I can’t see shit! I just light up the objectives and hope to get a kill. I can spot tanks and vehicles pretty easily.. but I rarely get a clear sight of a group of enemy infantry. This dude had superhuman sight lol
It's all about the monitor. You don't want low graphic settings like some people say because that makes it harder to spot movement when you're higher up in the air because your TV isn't rendering that kind of detail.
I just love that bug where you change from 3rd to 1st person perspective and all the enemy on the grownd glow like christmas lights for a split second lol

I’m mostly a tank main and it isn’t until the 2nd to last base when we get our tanks which is a joke but so is the time to kill, but I concentrate on the tanks mainly and that’s the only way I’ve ever gotten a win
You see that 6-pounder by the banker on the first sector? Use it wisely and you get to wipe out decent numbers of enemies

Unreal game. I'm a ground and pound sorta guy, and it's nice to see things from a more top-down perspective :) Planes are the only thing I've yet to really get the hang of, never have been much of a flyer. Gonna look at your other vids for a guide or something. Cheers!

Defended Wake Breakthrough as the only pilot left after our landing strip was taken. Got 102 kills that round, mostly focusing tanks. My team supported me with anything they had while I never let a tank past the strip and simultaniously dropping flares where needed. It was glorious. We did not lose another point. I was not shot down. We won.
Love the vids! One suggestion, there are some parts of your videos such as at 7:22 where the in game volume over powered your lovely voice and I can’t tell what you’re saying as clearly. Keep up the great work tho man. :D
Historically speaking, 2 Corsair pilots defended wake island alone for some time, taking out 2 planes and 2 ships achieving a combined killstreak of over 300. But still lost the match

I’d use the training map
@@danielmurin4546 as a pilot with 200h in BFV planes, and a streak of 74-0 in a corsair, i can tell you that it surely isnt impossible. when you get the basics, and start focusing on surviving, you will get the time to learn how to fly. if you get in a plane and start doing acrobatics and try to bring your plane to its limits, you will surely fail.
first of all, assign your pitch up to Spacebar and i would also recomment repair on Shift, and exit plane on something you cannot press hahaha! there are TOO MANY embarassing times where i accidentally jumped out of my plane!
after that, try to stay alive, do strafes but pull up fast, dont go close to the ground, and dont do vertical loops while close to the ground. try to play higher. it will be more, difficult to get kills but it will give you a lot of valuable time to familiarize yourself with the plane and the physics. for dogfighting, because i dont like explaining things for the next 2 hours writing here, search the internet, not for BFV tricks, but for actual, real dogfighting maneuvers. things like High Yo Yo, Barrel Roll Attack, Flat and Rolling Scissors, etc. You could also understand those things in practice, or by watching youtubers like @Silk, but it would be better and faster if you did research first.
When you get the feeling of how your plane works and you somehow by a miracle manage to lvl ur planes to lvl 6 (the last planes are the best so far, Mosquito with the cannon comes second), things will naturally come to you. it will be tough at first, but it is really nice to fly! dogfighting is interesting and fun, (though un-rewarding, THNX DICE for jumpers and low scorepoints) and air to ground is REALLY fun!
I got good by playing plane based games since childhood. Stuff like Heroes of the Pacific/Over Europe and the Ace Combat series. And other Battlefield/Battlefront games. I really enjoy flying.

Hey Silk, i wanted to ask, are these cannons still worth using ? because when i use them now, i aim pinpoint but i dont seem to be hitting or killing many, i can't tell if i'm doing smth wrong or did they get hard nerfed ? Im a pretty good piulot and have no problem hitting infantry with regular cannons, but these ones just feel rlly bad unlike what it shows in the video. PS i just started flying in bf5 like 3 months ago
The most triggering thing about this clip is your squad leader sitting on 60k + resources and never calling in the nuke or arti strikes... jeez.

Breaktrough on Wake Island feels much more as a historical military simulation than Conquest Mode. My personal experience since last week is randomly 50/50 US-Japanese victories on Wake Island at 10-15 matches. The map is definitly a challenge for the defender but its practical. In one of my Last breaktrough games on japanese side we break tue US-Tank rush before the hangar because there is very tight space for Tank to operate. And two other games on US Side we fail to capture the last sector by attrition
how do you set the ''spacebar'' for going up ? when im flying its like a new born baby that has been forced to run 50km. it just doesnt work xD
Where in the settings can i set the button of the eqipment for the planes to show, the icons showing while flying on the left down corner.
Because i cant see when my bombs are ready or when my instant repair is ready to use again

^^^That kind of logic is exactly how you get good at planes in BF games. Weighing the odds for risks and rewards before you decide to do something. Like deciding when to pull up during your strafe. The closer you are to the guy with the fleiger, the easier it is for him to hit you. And you gotta decide if you being dead for a couple minutes waiting for the next plane is worth the 1 extra kill you might get from pulling up late.
Oh definitely. For most of my strafes I kinda look at the risk of doing something versus the reward. Then it's up to the pilot and how risky they fly. For someone like me I fly pretty risky, but someone like BigBossFoX (400 kd), he'll almost never strafe if there's risk.

How to defend wake Island in my opinion, is how I have found to be the best way to defending.
1. The at cannons are extremely valuable get a squad of three to take all three of them and put them on the edge of the airfield, obliterate all tanks because if you let them live the enemy team will have 4-5 lvts, 2-3 shermans.
2. The enemy need to be constantly spotted, decoy snipers, flare guns and planes with flares are very important.
3. Make sure that the tanks are on japan's side are protected as they are highly valuable assets especially if the enemy is down to 2 shermans after the hanger is lost.
I find even one AT cannon is great to protect the hanger point from flanker and tanks as extremely valuable don't forget you have tow hooks on the cars

As someone who only plays BFV to fly, you GOTTA drop those flares if you wanna give your team a fighting chance to "burn tickets", especially on defense. No excuses.

That makes zero sense, he clears out all the enemies so his team can push forward. Blame the developers for making a horrible spawn system

Ive setup my bindings to be exactly like Warthunder Air, now I win 95% of my dog fights, so easy to pull reversals, and setup energy traps

Yeah, I had a really good win 2 days ago. They took A and B pretty fast and somehow they took C with light speed, I died and when I respawn they had it.
Then they moved along pretty fast but was stuck on the last points for atleast 300 tickets and somehow we managed to hold them off with 0 planes, and I had enough points to call in back to back 3 artillery strikes at the end which helped a bit aswell.
I'm not the best pilot, so when I get an enemy plane on me, I try getting my plane into the water and then getting the nose almost vertical so I don't blow up and my plane slows down enough to the point where the other plane passes right over me, all while my plane while my plane is trying to leave the water. By the time the enemy plane passes over me, my plane gets out of the water and is back in the air. It's real hard to explain and pull off, and I have a success rate of maybe 50%, but I prefer that over trying to out maneuver the enemy, since I'm not the best pilot. Then there's you, who makes flying look so damn easy. Awsome job man

It only happens when everyone goes to A and F. They take the boats out far and swing around to C and D. Or stay on B and use the AA guns to keep the planes from supporting
I love being a good pilot when the enemy team isn’t when playing Wake Island because even after we lose our airstrip I’m dropping them like flies getting them mad and all of a sudden there’s fliegers AA guns and airplanes trying to kill me it’s great
Im my honest opinion, Air support for japan is key on this map. For once your impact as a pilot is crucial for the allies. Use the tank killer load out, the 500 pound bombs and help your team by eliminating the tanks and air support.
It’s a great challenge as a pilot I’ve only fully survived once. Everyone got on a AA while being chased by two pilots lmao
Its been awhile but rewatching this, my advice as a pilot.
If you cant full punish tunnel vision, harrass them enough to break that. If more infantry is focusing on you as a pilot the less infantry are focusing on the objective.
Also for new pilots, the best advice i got to dogfighting, get the mindset you are fighting to manipulate velocity
A wounded player looking to heal is just as good as a dead one.

@@UncleJamzz As I have seen in previous videos of him, it is some kind of graphic bug, which makes players glow white if he is away a certain distance. If you watch closely this effect stops when he is closer to the players

I don't think it's possible on PS4. As far as I know it's to do with pre rendered frames as some people have it caused by the Nvidia Ultra Low Latency settings
Defending wake island is easy once you get to the sector where japanese tanks arrive, you just hold the silos at B sector and they can’t get through when you have the type 5 75mm and you stay near the supply station for vehicles
Looking at your enemy planes they seem like bots, are they persons behind them?
Got over 120 twice, one was a 125 streak until their pilots got annoyed and rammed me. Pretty annoying you cant spawn planes after the second sector though, Americans have 3-4 planes and about 800 tanks all the way through the round.
If you kill the tanks at the start, there's no issues there.
The lack of plane spawns though is really annoying

Maybe I'm lucky, but I usually have quite close games on Wake in breakthrough mode. Good tankers are usually a huge advantage for attackers but if there aren't any, attack dies on 3rd or last sectors.
How do you pitch while repairing? I can do it with the mouse, but it's awkward.

I gotta go back to your vid with your settings - even after 5.2.2 the enemy are glowing white. I notice when you get closer to the ground that effect disappears. The enemy pilots fucked up by attacking you - pretty sure you would have let them do their own farming if they left you alone - it 'might' have improved their teams chance of winning.

I am a horrible pilot, granted I am on console, but I am trying to get better so I can fill whatever role my team needs. I’m already a good tanker, support, medic, and sniper, but I’d love to be better as a pilot. From this video alone, I picked up so much than the week of practice. It just sucks sometimes when I go up against someone who is god tier and then I’m over here with no clue how I even got in the plane in the first place. What setting marks the enemy team as white avatars on the ground?
As of the time of this Comment, I finally got my first taste of BF5. Played the 'Crash Course Intro' where I felt like a clumsy dumbass just like in the Crash Course Intro in my brief look in BF1, rejoiced when BF5 turned out to have a actual Practice Area (Why the hell didn't BF1 have this!!?) & hopped into it. I wish this Practice Area had Helis... they're my 2nd most interested in Vehicle behind Tanks. Anyway, hop into Plane & holy shit how the hell do I fucking fly this goddamn thing!!? O_0
With default controls, I can't wrap my head around Mousing Up to Pitch Down & vice versa for the other one... it feels too counter-intuitive to me... so I find where I can Rebind these two controls, but I can't tell if my inability to automatically succeed at mousing up or down PERFECTLY straight is translating into the Rebinding Input or not causing inaccuracy in the Plane's aim in Pitching up on Mouse up or vice versa. Is there any help for this?
How the hell do I actually figure out how to Airplane... turning how I want, how the hell to not keep accidentally flying out of bounds, how the hell to tell how to turn into another direction & actually AIM this to take me where i'm actually wanting to go (Like the damn stupid hard to hit Resupply Point...) instead of getting easily misaimed, if not dazed & confused... & even how to quit screwing up my own efforts to control my Altitude during flying up into the Sky or diving down & crashing my stupid ass embarrassingly...? :( (& maybe more things i'm not quite remembering atm...)

14:35 playing world of tanks made me a better tanker in this game since I knew where to aim to get the best hits how to take on over tanks and also positioning my tank to use my armour effectively

Dice definitely needs to reduce the number of tanks the attackers get!! I can only dream of being this good of a pilot. Guess I'll just stick with getting one strafe in and then being immediately killed by and enemy plane lol.

When you are on defense on the last objective it's impossible when the planes just continue to kill everyone.

Planes are ballanced and great for the overall gameplay, yes.
I actually do not find it that hard to win, so far I have won about 9 times and losg about 9 times
The key to win on defence is to destroy the US army's tanks on the second sector, me and my friend always goes tank hunting and usually aim for the LVTs first since they can't respawn.
Yeah this is definitely the key. But there's also the issue of one team not having planes.
They had no tanks and if I died, we would have lost 100%
@@SilkOCE It's pretty dumb to have planes spawn at the air field in an active war zone while they wage war 50meters away.
In BF3 conquest assault the advantage of taking C flag was that the planes and the havoc simply stopped spawning. The same could've been done here.
Just stop them from spawning, but also dont spawn american planes from there. It's just dumb.
The towable cannons are key !!! Grab them at the start and take them down to B or park them at the hanger

I play west coast USA and over here I find the last point the easiest for us to defend and generally win as defenders regardless of armour or air support. The dogfighting is so much more aggressive on USA servers than what I've seen from you or Niccaman, so I have to roll the 2 20mm and increased engines on the bomber loadout instead of the 4 20mm HE. I don't see any pilots over here getting above the 50 kill mark really for it.

@@SilkOCE this technique that we often use in war thunder is called split, you create a sort of S in the air by going out and coming in to take the tail of the player who follows you.

Doesn't matter if it's not fair, part of the game to use AA and Fliegerfaust to take down enemy planes when they take the airfield. If you defend the airfield good enough they won't take it. If they do and you get shot down, well it's time to go infantry. I guess the airfield is the turning point on this map
Can you do an updated controls/ dog fighter tutorial? Decent pilots always seem to be able to out turn me and end up behind me.

@@ivan53725 I didn´t say it is a "bug", afaik it is a deliberate setting of a config file (probably on Nvidia profile inspector) to gain this visibility advantage

I haven't used profile inspector, but I do change stuff in Nvidia control panel
