If Mohg chose to learn any other magic, he still would have been strong. The way I understand the descriptions of blood incantations, Mohg created them and one must be skillful to do that.
He is using the formless Mother's blood as base, but that's how magic works in elden ring.
Glintstone sorcerers also use the power of glintstone and don't create it out of nothing.
Holy magic is also created from the golden order, right? Radagon and Morgott don't create their own holy energy, but channel a power that is already there.
I see it similar to a water bender from Avatar. They need water as a base to even fight, but still need their own skill to properly use, what is already there.

    • @Nameandaddresswithheld

To be fair, Melania and Miquella are clearly stronger, with Melania being much stronger in game. Radahn is heavily degraded when we meet him. Morgott is similar in power, but doesn’t have an entire outer god carrying him through the fight. Mohg in phase 1 is easier than most demigods, it’s only after blood mommy comes in that he’s a problem

    • @TrashPanda90914

@Nameandaddresswithheld I think Mohg is the demigod closest to Malenia. When CZcamsrs have pitted them against each other he's one of the only bosses in the game who can really contend with her. His bleed spells seem uniquely suited to beat her.

Aldrich is the only character in the entire Souls franchise to commit infanticide, he takes a sadistic enjoyment in eating people alive, invaded Anor Londo and devoured Gywndolin for his powers, and intended to bring about the Age of Deep, which was much worse than the Age of Dark because all will suffer in it.

True, I don’t think he deserves to be on the list to begin with given that there’s far more evil characters then him. How is Gideon on the list when there’s selivus who basically makes puppets of woman by taking their control over their bodies and then ra p.. them. That’s far more evil than Gideon especially since his plan was to make a puppet out of a demi god who had the potential to become a god (ranni) and then do even more messed up stuff once he has the power to

    • @Ozzieapologist
      @Ozzieapologist Před měsícem +11

As strange as it may sound, I don’t think he ever wanted to become Elden Lord. It was only a lie he told Nepheli to keep her close. Having to rule and bring stability to the Lands between would only distract him from his knowledge-searching. That’s why he starts helping us after we beat Ensha. We proved that we’re strong enough to make a legitimate claim for the Elden Ring, so why don’t just let us inherit both the title and the cumbersome responsibility that comes with it?

    • @GodfreyFirstEldenLord
      @GodfreyFirstEldenLord Před měsícem +8

@@Ozzieapologist yeah I think the same, i feel like he might fear us given the fact that we killed a lot of demi gods and are dead serious on killing a god. Either that or he knows something that makes him believe that there shouldn’t be a next elden lord. His armor description says that he saw what Queen Marika planned and despaired or smth like that. Or lastly he wanted to be defeated so all his doubts are gone since you have the power to become elden lord. He was despaired to he might have sought hope from you cause you’ll become elden lord and shatter those doubts, there’s a lot of reasons to why he fought us, but there’s no way he wanted to become elden lord

I don't know if the story i know about him is correct, but he wasn't even evil at all, he took care of a human civilization while they were growing up, and didn't even tried to harm someone, he was tortured to release his dark soul power and that ended the way it ended (i don't know if he was still councious in that point in time). And if it had been up to him, he would just have waited until win failed and the age of darkness came naturally so that humans could live in it. You said that Manus was evil, and I'd like to argue the opposite. The point of Dark Souls is that Man isn't evil, they just stem from an abyss that is counter to the Gods' fire. They are part of the natural order that came with the first flame, and are the rightful lords of what is to come after the age of fire. Sure, the Gods would argue that Manus was an evil villain, but evidence actually points towards the Gods as being the true villains. They feared the dark that humans came from, and chose to shackle them as a means to control them. Hence the Darksign. Gwynn even broke the natural order by kindling himself to stave off the coming darkness. There is nothing inherently wrong with the Dark, the gods just fear it because they cannot control it, as they attain power through fire.

I mean… the Old Blood healed. People came from different countries because of the phenomenal healing properties. The Healing Church really was doing that, healing people.
I don’t think they could’ve anticipated the Moon’s effect on those with the Blood in them. Only dudes who met the Moon to my knowledge were Gehrman and Laurence. Laurence becomes a beast, Gerhman is enslaved by the Moon, so I don’t think there was really anyone to give a heads up warning.
Now, the Choir? The subset of the church? Those fuckers were eeeeevil. The whole Lumen Flower/orphanage/Celestial Emmisary thing is foul. If I remember right they’d take children from the orphanage, use the old blood and Celestial Emissary (who I believe was a Choir member who changed) to turn the children into mini emissaries, then they’d be planted and turned into Lumen Flowers. Lumen Flowers would attract… some otherworldly entity (like higher dimensional fireflies, phantasms I want to say?) which the Choir could then use to conduct their Arcane abilities and rituals and experiments and what not. Basically they took orphans and turned them into energy.
So I think the church as a whole was a genuine helpful thing for the most part, but the guys in the Choir were despicable.
God I want to replay now it’s been forever. Lore is sooooo damn good I love how literally everything is explained.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think Gwyn is that evil of a character. Going through to timeline of events, he created the darksign, which is probably the most evil thing he did, but even then that allowed humans to live free lives, trusting fully in the illusion of life instead of living as hollows.
He gave the pygmies the ringed city to seal away the dark. While this may be bad, it is also one of the most impressive and stunning places in the franchise, rivaling his own city of Anor Londo in beauty and greatly surpassing it in size.
He feared the dark and did everything he could to stop it, but can you blame him when you know that the only two places he saw the dark were New Londo and Oolacile? I think most people would prefer pretty much anything to that, even more so when you realize an age of dark would likely mean the death and destruction of him, his family, his people, and everything he worked and fought to build.
Even then, when the time came to link the fire, there were plenty of powerful souls to choose from that he could have commanded to do the work for him, but he chose to go himself, sacrificing his own life first to save the world he loved.
When you look at how just about every other character deals with their enemies (player characters included), the fact that Gwyn managed to give humanity a place in the world which, from the descriptions of nations like Catarina and Astora seems not bad at all, is pretty impressive.
The original Age of Fire (before the darksign and undead started showing up) seems like it was good for everyone, and I can see why he would want it to keep going when Oolacile seemed to be the way the world was headed.

    • @Stormmblade

Gwyn's greatest sin, ironically, was his hubris. Just like the Witches of Izalith, Gwyn knew (or learnt) that eventually the flames would fade and the Age of Gods would end to give way for the Age of Man. Gwyn feared the Dark, and he also felt that he knew what was best, so he did all sorts of things to artificially delay the inevitable.
On that note, while it's true that some humans could climb the ranks in Gwyn's army; Bishop Havel the Rock comes to mind as an example, generally speaking humans were technically considered second class citizens. Humans had to live outside of Anor Lond, Golden City of the Gods, and only those who could prove worthiness and loyalty were permitted entry. The Giants, too, were treated as underclass as laborers and servants, albeit still held in higher esteem than humanity. Humans were valued, but they were also seen as rather expendable, as evidenced by the intentional flooding of New Londo Ruins, or by the Dark Sign to make into suitable kindling for the First Flame.
Gwyn's attempt at imposing his ideal order managed to alienate all three of his children, the next generation and his would-be successors. His firstborn was disowned and struck from the annals of history, despite generally being considered a fair and virtuous young God of War (also being direcrly correlated with the subro Warriors of Sunlight covenant), simply for living partially at odds with his father's world view. Gwynevere effectively abandons Anor Londo to its fate, having supposedly married a flame god from a distant land and presumably moving on. Gwyndolin still holds true and loyal to his father's view, but he was also raised at odds with his own existence (which can be considered questionable). Also, artificially extending the Age of Fire seems to have done the world a lot of harm, as evidenced by the twisted and burnt-out state of the world the player character explores (which only proceeds to get even worse as time progresses into DS3).
Ultimately, Gwyn's story is a pretty tragic one. He was a being who was gifted enormous power, and enormous responsibility to match it. He worked hard and did a pretty decent job of making things turn out okay. People treat him as a God, maybe he even believes it himself, he's certainly the most powerful and capable being around. But he has flaws, and is nowhere near as perfect as everyone believes him to be. Nowhere near as powerful as he needs to be. Refusing to adress certain issues, he pushes away those closest to him before finally making the ultimate sacrifice to (pointlessly) extend an age that nobody is really around to benefit from anymore (but obviously that's open to interpretation). He's long gone and the story is set in motion.

THANK YOU! Ngl i was a little surprised to see Gwyn as the final EVIL character of the video. For the final evil boi absolute monstruosities like Aldritch comes to mind, not Gwyn.
The Age of the Ancients and the Everlasting Dragons was a bleak, immemorial, gray world filled with immortal creatures where no progress was bound to happen. With flames came disparity yatta yatta and the Lords coalition led by Gwyn was effectively the first big event to what would eventually be an age full of bustling cities like Astora (know for having a highly advanced culture and society) and Catarina (a place know for festivities and drinks), locations that paints a picture of humans living an okay life in some parts of the land.
Ofcourse there was a lot of bad things too that came with the Age of Gods, that we all know. But between the forever stillness of a bleak gray world and the Age of Gods? The Age of Gods will always sounds like a better choice in my book.

One thing regarding Manus that isn't mentioned here: it wasn't just the loss of his pendant that drove him crazy, it was the torture. The bonfire to get to him sits in a cell with chains and a broken wall, which he presumably broke himself before trying to return to his grave site where we find and fight him, probably in utter confusion (and agony, being exploded from the inside by the Abyss was definetely not a nice experience).
That cell is also surrounded by other cells, and right outside that corridor there is a Chained Prisoner, clearly another human who underwent torture. Another source for this is Gough's dialogue, he says something in the lines of: " (the Oolacile sourcerers) wanted to discover the secrets of Primeval man". Also, Kaathe (Kate) wasn't the only one responsable for it, Allfather Lloyd, or Gwyndolin, or both, also had a part in it. The bonfire in Manus' cell can't have gotten there on it's own, and the Way of White (commanded by Lloyd) is the group which was tasked by Gwyn to place bonfires all around Lordran.

She’s guarding Sinh, she’s the last line of defense against the Drakeblood invaders who murdered her people. Pretty sure she thinks we are a Drakeblood too the way she greets us ‘you are not deserving of the mire’. Of course she’s wrath, she lost everything. And even after losing everything she’s still denying the invaders their prize. LOVE her.
I don’t think Nadalia was evil either. Don’t remember her story as well but iirc she basically was given to Iron King as a bride but was cast aside and abandoned. She’s solitude. All the shadows and soldiers in the tower are her trying to not be alone. She protecting the one person who cared about her and gave himself to her, Raime, just as Raime protects her ‘body’.
I think the stories of those three sisters are beautiful. They’re all really sad but they all found their place before something (Drakebloods, us, Chaos) rips it away from them, leaving them broken.
Then there’s fucking Nashandra. Who got literally the biggest toughest dude in the series as her husband, who was fully devoted to her… and still she couldn’t help but crave power. She caused her own demise. Other three sisters? Tragic. Nashandra? Deserved.

I like to say a couple things on Sulyvahn: by your words "Aldrich had no intention to becoming allies with Sulyvahn" but I am pretty sure they were allies before Aldrich linked the First Flame. Sulyvahn put a magic barrier on Ithryll's gate, and gifted Aldrich a Peculiar Doll which's a key to pass this barrier. Although, when Aldrich walked to Anor Londo to consume the fallen god with his deacons, he had left the the Doll by his tomb. He forcefully broke through the Sulyvahn's barrier, but of course Sulyvahn didn't want Aldrich and his deacons force through his city, which leading them to get into battle. Also that's why Ithryll isn't overran by Aldrich and his forces, because he never aimed to take over Ithryll, he was just to make it to Anor Londo.
Also he sends out Outrider Knights to die all around the Lothric.

Priscilla was the result and the power of life hunt might have come to be due to havel and his lover be part of the plot against the gods. 2- in ds2 the last giant IS the giant lord... which in true souls fashion with pathetic bosses that we face often well past their prime, thats why the last giant is such a let down of a boss. I mean how well would you fit after being pierced with stone and in prison for who knows how long, and like in ds1 with sif, he remembers that you fought him in the past later in the game. Lastly patches serves to punish the greedy and if you look at his dialoge in ds3 you have some idea of this as well as in ds1. The only thing we know is that he returned to Irythill after he was resurected. What is vastly more likely is that Aldritch made a pact with Sullyvahn. He would get rid of Gwyndolin and privide his wisdom and strengh to Sullyvahn, in exchange of being excepted to his home, and to have Gwyndollin provided to him for consumption in order to gain more strengh. It's why I don't see why gwyn is on here as wile his actions could hardly be justified, he was doing what he thought was best to keep the world bright which evolved sacrificing himself to preserve it. Not something I'd think a truly evil character would do. I also think Sir Gidion is an asshole but not that evil as he does show some compassion for nepheli and even goes out his way to kill seluvis after you tell him seluvis's intentions to her. And if Gidion is evil because of the atrocities to the albinaurics, then practically anybody associated with the healing church in Bloodborne which includes Lady Maria and Ludwig should be seen just as evil even.
Speaking of sylvis, I'm surprised he wasn't even given an honorable mention as I'd consider him to be one of the most evil characters in these games, he is an arrogant asshole like Gidion but has done awful things and asks the player to help his demented game. He releases Nito’s miasma within the dragon and ends up poisoning the entire kingdom. All because his ‘noble order’ just had to slay this comatose half dead dragon they heard about. Like he wipes out an entire kingdom in pursuit of fame and glory. Seeing Shulva has very South/Central American designs, it wouldn’t surprise me if Yorgh and his knights were supposed to be the Souls equivalent of conquistadors.

I’d argue gwyn is the most evil as he held back the natural cycle of the world (gods-dragons-dark) which caused the undead curse and the dark soul and the cause of most of the suffering.

Im surprised the slayer of demons isnt on this list. Like i get it, the ending is player choice, but at the same time the fact one of the two endings has the slayer of demons just fucks the world on a comedic scale is insane. I think only the tarnished one can fuck over the world like the slayer of demons with the frenzied flames ending

There's definitely an argument to be made about adding Shabriri and the outer god that is the frenzied flame to this list. The fact that this entity only cares about burning the world to the ground makes it seem quite villainous in my eyes.

If this list can contain non-Fromsoft Souls-likes too, I have recently played through Lies of P and was blown away. If you haven't played the game yet - play it, it's insanely good. A most worthy spiritual successor to Soulsborne games and it has many pretty crazy twists. So before reading ahead, best to play the game.
So, spoilers for the characters: Simon Manus and Gepetto. Simon Manus is seen as the "obvious" antagonist of the game. He was a part of the Alchemists, an organization seeking advancements for humanity, but mostly seeking power. His ultimate goal was evolution of humanity and achieving immortality and godhood. He spread the Petrification Disease across the land, which hardened the skin of its victims while trapping Ergo inside (Ergo being the essence of humanity) and "leaving only the truth". He also used his Isle of Alchemists as a base to collect Ergo from around Krat, to achieve contact with God, and transcend him - which he seemingly almost achieved, before we stopped him. Aside from that, he also imprisoned Sophia, who was a lady with power to control time and puppets, and used her to the point where her soul split into pieces.
Gepetto was originally also an Alchemist, a friend of Simon. He had a son, Carlo. Carlo eventually found a friend Romeo, which he had grown to befriend very closely, while resenting father - Gepetto didn't care much for Carlo, even missing his graduation. Eventually, however, Alchemists' experiments have reached them, and they both caught Petrification Disease, and his son died. Gepetto was devastated by that and began to despise the Alchemists. He tried to revive his son by creating a puppet out of his corpse, but the energy was destructive, so he took out the heart and placed it in P, our playable character. After that, he collaborated with Venigni to spread the puppets around the world - with all puppets bound by the Grand Covenant, to ensure they help humans, stay true and never hurt them. However, Gepetto also bound them with another hidden rule, Law Zero - which ensured all puppets obey him no matter what.
Eventually, the world was "modernized" with puppets - almost every household and facility made big use of them. And at that point, he activated the Puppet Frenzy - which made puppets go mad and kill humans. Meanwhile, he also used Romeo's Ergo to make him the King of Puppets, whom he used to command puppets and kill people transformed by Petrification Disease. Chaos unfolded in the world, and after that, we got revived by Sophia. Throughout the game, it is shown that Gepetto managed to manipulate everyone. And his ultimate goal - have you gather Ergo on your way, as well as pieces, and then resurrect his son. The bad ending is crazy, where he reaches that goal. He revives Carlo, and then sends him to murder all your friends from Hotel Krat, replacing them with puppets that serve Carlo. After that, it's shown that he probably wants to make a whole utopia of puppets just for Carlo, as he goes out to "stabilize" the rest of the land (probably meaning he's going to kill and replace last survivors). The sheer evil here is insane.

Am I the only one with the pet peeve of names being mispronounced when they are actually said in a game or movie?

  • @MeUngaBungaButYouAreWorst

Manus is not the furtive pigmy at all. He was an ancient sorcerer of Oolacile, they found he's grave opened it and since the dark sign was already placed on humanity he woke up , they tortured him making he's humanity lose control. That is a common misconception on the community. In dark souls 3 in the ringed city we see the masuleum of the furtive pigmy as we arrived in the horizon , we also see he's descendents on the thrones

We fight Sulyvahns mother I believe? She’s a witch tree I thought, near where the ice crabs are. It would explain Sulyvahn’s root ‘wings’. She has a slightly different moveset and iirc the item she drops (spell?) suggests it’s his mom.

  • @square_ace2160

Manus is not the furtive pigmy my guy, the only kind of direct mention of him in any of the games is in the japanese name of one of the bonefires in the ringed city that refers to a "royal masoleum" (masoleum as in tomb of a king/ruler), so the most logical thing to think is since the primordial human depicted in the statue before filianore's church receiving the ring from gwyn is most likely him (simbolizing his feudal submission to the god, again, most likely), he lived as ruler of the ringed city, to then pass the fragments of the dark souls to specifically the nobles (which is how gael is able to extract it by consuming them, as you can see just by looking at gael's soul after defeating him), and in general to humanity as a whole.
Again, this reconstruction is as vague as the direct mentions to the figure of the pygmy in the series which are almost non-existent, but it's an explanation that does have some fair grounds to stand on.
The conception of manus as the furtive pygmy by most of the community for what I know is instead mostly based on vibes and oooo abyss hooman 😮 😮😮

I personally think Shabriri/the frenzy flame is more evil than dung eater, the frenzy flame is like the end of everything where as the omen curse still has life, and though his actions are evil dung eater's twisted logic justifies it all by granting the whole world a "blessing". Shabriri is an evil manipulator that wants nothing but chaos and destruction. He frames the nomadic merchants, turning Leyndell against them and gets them buried alive deep under the shunning grounds driving them to insanity, he hops from one body to another manipulating promising tarnished like Vyke into succumbing to the madness of the frenzied flame, even body snatching familiar faces like Yura to try and manipulate our own tarnished by using the death of our maiden as emotional blackmail to get us to find the frenzied flame. And then the age of the frenzied flame is just the death of everything, its just destruction and pure chaos with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, at least the cursed age of dung eater's ending still has life.
