- Changing the transmission fluid in the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport I used to own. The process is relatively simple.
00:01 - drain and fill locations
00:20 - loosen drain plug
00:30 - remove drain plug and drain fluid
01:00 - use new washer and reinstall drain plug
01:09 - torque drain plug
01:20 - fill with ATF
01:52 - start car
02:27 - cycle through gears
02:55 - test drive and top off

What a great video on the process, not only giving the steps but providing bolt sizes and fluid capacities. Thanks
Appreciate the video. My 17 Sonata has 200k miles and has been pretty trouble free. I will be doing this soon.
You must do alot of driving because how does a 17 have 200k miles I just hit 100k. Daily driver about 40 miles a day more or less
@@ravendeberry6645 I bought the car in 2019 with 125k on it already. It was a salesperson car I guess. I suppose we do a lot of driving too, carting the kids all over creation, LOL.
@@airman6822 oh okay makes sense
You are the first person I've seen to do it right.
As per the manual of '14-'18 Tuscon and Sonata, the manual calls for fluid *change* and this process seems like a flush which is not called for. But I am no expert so maybe I am interpreting this situation wrong and I would love to hear your feedback if you know more than me on this which is likely. I thought a tranny fluid change is drain it then refill it?
@@gotacallfromvishalflush is the act of pressure pushing it out. The drained this then refilling it ! It was done correctly !
@@garrettherberg2237 good to know thanks!
I filled the ATF from the top because my transfer fluid pump did not work. I put in the same amount that was drained. To prevent air bubbles from causing the ATF to leak out, I disconnected one of the transmission cooler hoses.
What temperature is considered operating temperature?
How about a 2016 Tucson?
How often do you change the transmission fluid on your vehicle? Cant find anything on transmission fluid change on the service manual.
Basically every 30,000-40,000.
That's because Hyundai claims it doesn't have to be changed on these vehicles unless you fall under their "severe usage" criteria, in which case it's every 60k miles. That would explain why it's not in the manual. I'll copy and paste their actual service bulletin for you here:
(Hyundai)
ATF of 6 speed automatic transaxle doesn't need to be replaced. But, if the vehicle is severe use or business use, replace ATF every 60,000 miles for severe usage.
Severe usage is defined as
Driving in rough road (Bumpy, Gravel, Snowy, Unpaved road, etc)
Driving in mountain road, ascent/descent
Repetition of short distance driving
More than 50% operation in heavy city traffic during hot weather above 32°C(89.6°F).
Police, Taxi, Commercial type operation or trailer towing, etc
Is this a fluid change or a pump/flush? Hyundai manual makes it very clear you REPLACE the fluid of the tranny and coolant there is no flushing or pumping. But I know nothing about mechanics so correct me if I'm wrong here about whether pumping material thru a tranny is not a flush
This is just a fluid drain and fill, not a flush.
@@brenth7774 Thanks!
Probably easier to fill from the top, open the overflow drain.
You still have to check the level so it makes sense to just fill that way also, you're already there anyway to drain it.
Harbor Freight fluid pump one gallon goes in.
Which parts did you need to perform this service?
Did you have to remove any of the shielding to get to the bolts?
Yes you do.
So you didn't fill it until a steady stream of fluid comes out the fill hole?
Yea, sorry, the lighting was not the best. It's starting to overflow at 2:50 but I think I cut some of the video out when editing.
How many liter change oil transmission of hyundai veloster 2015 sir?
I'm not 100% sure on that one, I no longer have the Hyundai but this one was specific to this transmission on the Sonata.
are you able to change the filter as well? thx
It’s a sealed transmission so in order to do so you’d literally have to take the entire transmission apart is what I’m told
Not without opening the transmission entirely.. so nope
