I needed to see this today. The whole Coronavirus outbreak just has me so anxious despite really being in quite a safe situation. I don't work, husband can work from home etc., no exposures we know of etc. However, still something normal in all the chaos is reassuring.

@@salma-ym6bq Because I have an anxiety disorder and I now have panic attacks My husband and I are able to make it work financially and we decided it was best for both of us. Here's the full story:. I taught Pre-K for over twenty years and I worked retail and was an editor for a law business during high school and college, so it's not like I never worked. My final year of teaching, I had a child I just couldn't reach no matter what strategies I tried. He made it impossible to teach and he was beginning to injure me in ways such as tripping me and laughing and going down on all fours behind me so I would fall over him if I stepped back. It was intentional as it happened often and he would laugh hysterically. I was always the most passionate teacher. At the first school I taught at I was the master lead teacher. At the second school I was the go to for leading things such as the holiday program and I was untitled but the person the owners told staff to go to if there were questions and they were not there, I was also certified as supervisor for student teachers and method teachers. I spent so much time and money on my classroom and my curriculum. I was sending children to kindergarten knowing how to tell time, how to do simple addition and subtraction, how to count by 2s,5s and 10s. I made learning fun and my classroom was my favorite place to be. But Fall of 2017, everything changed. I felt broken because I couldn't reach that child no matter what I tried and I was alone in the classroom with no one to help me or give me a moment to step out of the classroom. I was very far from the director as we were in a portion of a church and I was almost in the church. We were not supposed to have cellphones and although my boss finally admitted that she knew I wouldn't abuse it, they rarely answered my calls for help. It finally came to a head in December. Although I had had anxiety for most of my adult life, it was basically under control until one day I finally couldn't take it anymore. I had a literal nervous breakdown. I gave up, I lost all confidence in myself and my teaching and I didn't feel supported. I took a short leave at Christmas but essentially told them after some thought that I just couldn't come back. Right after I left, the teacher who got my old room got a full time assistant to help her. That hurt. So there you have it, that's why I no longer teach despite the fact that it was my absolute perfect job for many years. I still get kind messages from parents of past students. Sometimes mental health wins out over work. However, in the future I would avoid that question because you never know if the person was injured or has been job hunting for a year. I myself find the question painful as in Spring of 2017 I would have told you that I would teach until I was actual retirement age as I loved it.

Teacher from Germany here. Today was the last day of spring holidays but schools will be closed for at least two more weeks. Will be at school tmw though to make a plan. We are advised to homeschool all of our students. That‘s going to be interesting.

The whole Coronavirus outbreak has made me so anxious. I live in Washington state. Schools are now canceled until April 24. Colleges are closed until April 24th as well. Everything will be online for my spring quarter until April 24th. It could still be online after that if Inslee decides to do more. Sporting events and events are not happening. I am still working as of now but my work might need to shut down. This week I will see how much I work because now that the school is closed for this long period, IDK how many children are going to show up to the daycare I work at. So crazy! This video was so nice to see! I love all the color!

Thanks Alexa, your timing was SO perfect with this one❣️We have opted to stay home (we’re lucky enough to be retired) and do our diligent social distancing to protect ourselves and others. On Day 3 of this, I found myself feeling the littlest bit down today which I think is part of adjusting. Attempting to make progress with my shoe purge today was NOT helping.
